Video ~ Mick St John & Beth Turner's first and second kiss

Does any show have better end scenes than Moonlight?!? This is a particular fan favorite :) You will see Mick and Beth's first two kisses in this video. Of course, it is the final, amazing moment from the Arrested Development episode (#1x05).

The music used as the soundtrack for this kiss scene is the awesome song Sleep by Meiko.

Spoiler ~ Recap of Moonlight's 5th outing on the Sci-Fi Channel

SPOILER ALERT ~ My little recap of Moonlight's Arrested Development episode #1x05

Great voiceover tonight. It was very informative for us to hear what Mick was thinking during this episode.

Can you imagine being a teenager for eternity? Or, until a roller coaster chops off your head? No, thanks! I see why Mick felt for the teen vamp. Not only because he will never grow out of the awkwardness of puberty, but being turned without consent.

Love the look Mick gives the guy who pushed past him to get on the elevator.

Josh insisted that Beth get a blood test because of her "chain link fence" injury. Ha! That is a pretty good cover for a Vampire bite. The look on Mick's face when a blood test was mentioned & then Beth's instant denial about marrying Josh.... I felt bad for the guy.

Happy anniversary, Josh..... I'm headed to the morgue!

As he will again in Sleeping Beauty (episode #1x10), Josh tells Beth he saw the way she and Mick looked at each other.

Mick instantly knew that Beth was in the morgue. I like his line.... "No, the one hiding around the corner goes first."

Josef meets Beth! I love the looks exchanged between Mick, Beth and Josef. "Mick says you have a great voice." That little comment got Josef a different kind of look from Mick. When Beth says "Whatever you want" that definitely got the attention of all the boys. ;>

Rider got a pat on the back from Josef for his good work.

How good did Mick look on the boardwalk?!

Mick tried until the end to talk Mineo down. He is so sweet and wants to save everyone.

Mineo ~ "Have you ever loved someone completely, so that she was your whole world? You'd do anything she asked... anything at all. Have you ever loved someone that way? You forgot about yourself and all you thought about was her." Mick closes his eyes and thinks of Coraline, then answers ~ "Yes." Mineo ~ "See, I never have!" He has always been a sad, lonely & pimple ridden teenager. That would make me a bit angry too.

Our writers and stars do the best last scenes in the biz! I love the expression on Mick's face when Beth kisses him. On a typical show, the girl would probably apologize or break down after kissing the hunk. Not Beth.... she looked Mick right in the eye afterward and gave him a little smile.... THEN gave him another kiss. As always, Alex has the perfect facial expression for the moment. The smile Mick gives as the scene fades out says it all.

What do you think about Sophia Myles as New Moon's Irina?

Edi Gathegi is the Vampire Laurent in the film, Twilight. He spoke to MTV Movies about the hotly anticipated sequel, New Moon, in which he will return to play the character. In the interview, he confesses to watching fan videos on YouTube. One in particular caught his eye. It features Moonlight's Sophia Myles as the Twilight series' Vampiress Irina. Those who are familiar with the Twilight books know that Irina is Laurent's love interest. Yet another vamp role for our Sophia?!?!? I thought Edi's comments about her were very sweet. :) I've highlighted his praise for Sophia below. What do you think about the possible casting?

Oooooooo.... also, above I posted the "Life of Irina" fan video he mentioned.

Mary Beth has created a YouChoose poll asking for your opinion ~

'Twilight' Actor Edi Gathegi Talks 'New Moon' Love Interest
By Larry Carroll

When last we saw "Twilight" vampire Laurent, he had aided the Cullens, turned his back on his fellow nomads and vanished into the woods of Forks.

Now, with a new director and a much-anticipated sequel just weeks away from filming, Edi Gathegi is eager to channel his character's evil side — and find true love in the process.

"It was a tiny little independent film — did moderately well in the box office," Gathegi laughed when he stopped by the MTV News studios for an exclusive interview to discuss "New Moon" and his latest movie, "My Bloody Valentine 3-D." Asked how his life has changed in the seven weeks since the vampire flick's record-breaking opening weekend, he grinned and said: "I've gotten a lot of MySpace requests."

Gathegi has also been spending a lot of time on YouTube and is particularly fond of a fan-made video that uses footage from various movies to continue Laurent's journey. "Yeah, I saw that," Gathegi said. "These fans are so passionate that they will spend time in their homes, editing splices together, because they're so in love with the story."

And, speaking of love, any good Twilighter knows that in "New Moon," Laurent meets Irina, a Denali sister whose actions will impact the future movies. That YouTube video casts "Tristan + Isolde" beauty Sophia Myles as Irina — a choice that would greatly please Gathegi.

"She's a good choice. I could be happy with that," he said of the 28-year-old Brit. "I like her work. ... Now I'm not going to be able to get her out of my mind for that character."

Of the soon-to-be-cast role, Gathegi said Irina should be "extremely vulnerable, as I think that's what leads her to make the choices that she makes. She should also be hard-headed. Vulnerable and hard-headed. But I think those are things that a good actress can do, so type-wise, I don't even know. I don't even think people saw me as Laurent for a while. So just let the best actress win, I say."

Speaking about his castmates, with whom he'll soon be reuniting, Gathegi said, "It's a 'Twilight' family. We were together for press junkets and tours, and this has been eight months together, ever since we shot in March. We've just been with each other constantly. And then we're going to go into the next one, and then they're going to do [parts] three and four, God willing. These are, like, lifelong friends at this point."

Just moments before the interview, Gathegi's phone went off. When the actor started laughing and showed us the caller ID, we saw that it was the one-and-only Taylor Lautner on the other end. "Taylor and I are going to his parents' place for dinner tonight — and then go to the gym," he said, adding that the duo were getting together to celebrate Lautner's recent re-signing as Jacob Black. "We're going to celebrate tonight. ... You should see this kid! He's jacked. He's taking it seriously.

"We've worked out in every city on our tour," Edi said of his 16-year-old spotter. "If you see him, you'll know immediately. This kid is so strong right now, it is unreal. He has achieved with his body what people with steroids cannot achieve. The only way I can describe it is that God has given him this time for this growth spurt and this body right now."

As for the rest of Laurent's "New Moon" arc, Gathegi said he's looking forward to "being fully bad. Not just halfway bad. I like the transition from being conscious and compassionate, to ['New Moon' when Laurent realizes] that's too difficult. I've got to be a vampire."

Commenting on the directorial musical chairs, Gathegi said he has yet to meet the new man in charge of the series, Chris Weitz. "Catherine [Hardwicke] was a doll. I loved that woman. I think she made the decisions she made for her reasons," he said. "Now I'm looking forward to the future. I'm looking forward to working with Chris. I think he's very capable. He's got that experience with huge pictures, with 'The Golden Compass.' He's going to make it beautiful. I loved 'American Pie,' so his track record is very promising for me. And I heard he's great with actors. I think 'New Moon' is going to be really good. ... He's up to his neck in things to do, so he's not concerned with [meeting with the returning actors yet]. We'll meet on set."

As for the moment, Gathegi said only half-jokingly, he's just trying to get a script to read. "I'm going to fire someone, because Robert [Pattinson] read it. He's like a supporting role in the freakin' film!" the actor smiled, threatening to call Mr. Pattinson on his cell phone. "Nah, he's in London now. I don't want to make any long-distance calls. I'm cheap."

TV Guide ~ Moonlight performing well for Sci-Fi

Matt Mitovich (TV Guide) answered a Moonlight fan's questions about how well our show is doing on the Sci-Fi Network, and if there is any talk of the channel producing new episodes.

Today's News: Our Take
by Matt Mitovich

Any word on how the Moonlight reruns are doing on Sci Fi Channel? Is there any chance Sci Fi will pick the show up? — Joan

MATT : Moonlight, which averaged 7.5 million viewers during its CBS run, has been hovering around a million weekly viewers on Sci Fi, making it one of the better-performing series acquired by the cabler in recent years. That said, a wild rumor suggesting that Sci Fi is seeking to get Mick and the band back together for a Season 2 has absolutely no teeth to it.

Alex O'Loughlin and Holly Valance have broken up

According to the Australian newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, Alex O'Loughlin and Holly Valance have gone their separate ways. The two had been dating for over three years. Not very happy relationship news for Valentine's weekend. Since the report is from an Aussie source, the focus is mostly on Holly. As we have noted previously, the entertainment media in Australia consider her to be the bigger star.

Holly Valance splits
By Ros Reines

LA stars Holly Valance and Alex O'Loughlin have split after being an item for nearly four years. The couple, there for each other throughout their careers in America, have unfortunately grown apart.

Former Neighbours star Valance has seen her fortunes change as her recording career gave way to acting.

Most recently, she was in the thriller Taken with Liam Neeson, but she has also scored guest roles in television shows including Prison Break and Entourage.

Although O'Loughlin's vampire series Moonlight was taken off the air, he used it to catapult himself into film roles, starring in the forthcoming Whiteout with Kate Beckinsale.

Alex O'Loughlin guest starring on the CBS show, Criminal Minds

TV Guide is reporting on the guest starring role Alex O'Loughlin has coming up on the television series, Criminal Minds... which I told ya about in a previous post. We get a little more info from this blurb. Not only is Alex playing the villain on his episode, the story will be told from his point of view! That should mean even more Alex screen time *cheer*

Another bit of information, the entertainment reporters @ TV Guide have asked again for any fresh scoop about Alex's possible tv project. Still no news, unfortunately.

Alex O'Loughlin Takes a Bite Out of Crime
by Matt Mitovich

It's not the series that long ago was promised to him through a CBS talent deal, but it's something.

Alex O'Loughlin is returning to CBS by way of a guest-starring gig on Criminal Minds.

The Moonlight star, a show rep confirms for TVGuide.com, will play a serial killer in a late-April episode that's got something extra going for it besides a dreamy Aussie. The outing will be told from the point of view of the baddie, as his latest crime and its ensuing manhunt unfolds.

At last month's Winter TCA Press Tour, CBS entertainment chief Nina Tassler had indicated that O'Loughlin fans might see him back on their screens soon, though the ideal, of course, is for the actor to front his own series again. But we just checked in (again) for any movement on O'Loughlin's talent deal with the Eye, and there is still nothing to report.

Baby steps, people. Baby steps.

SPOILER ~ Recap of Moonlight's 4th outing on the SciFi Channel

Spoiler Alert for those who still haven't seen Moonlight's Fever episode (#1x04).... do not read my recap below.....

First off ~ Am I the only one who did not see the scene of Mick talking to Leni in the ladies room?!?! Either I blinked for too time, or it was cut out. That is an important scene. We see, again, the gentleman side of Mick as he tips his hat to the women coming out. It establishes his longing for the family & children he can never have as a Vampire. Also, if I were Leni, my knees would have buckled when Mick said to look into his eyes and then pledged to save her and the baby.

Back to your regularly scheduled recap :)

Fever is the episode that changed the mind of many television critics and reviewers who initially weren't so kind to Moonlight.

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT for anyone who has not seen all 16 of Season One's episodes...... It was bittersweet seeing Josh alive and well. We also saw the sweet relationship between him and Beth. The ease with which they teased each other. Beth saying she had to stick to the facts in her BuzzWire report about Josh's case because she was afraid she "would start babbling about how hot you are." Then, when Josh jokes that he might be cheating on her, she says "who would cheat on this?"

The desert is no place for our Vampire!

Who didn't want to rush to Mick's side to feed him and save his life?!? Or, just feed him anytime! *wink*

Beth and Josh went to Mick for help because our vamp is good at his job. And, he is a gracious host making coffee for his guests.

Love the touches of humor in Fever. Mick daydreaming that he had found a "vamp friendly vending machine." The humor also led to some of my favorite quotes.... Beth ~ "you're a delicate flower, Mick St John." Mick ~ "it's a giant thrill ride that never ends." Mick agreeing that he is indeed a delicate flower when Beth arrives to save him.

We watch Beth becoming more and more fascinated with Mick.

At this point, Beth had known Mick for a relatively short amount of time. I think she seems much more upset when she thinks Mick has been killed than when Josh actually dies. We do see her usual reaction of lashing out due to guilty feelings.

Those ice cubes were really fake... but give them a break... can you imagine what a continuity nightmare it would have been if they had used real ice.

Mick was willing to die rather than bite Leni. He has such honor.

I could write pages and pages after every episode about Alex O'Loughlin's outstanding performance. He makes it all so real and believable.

In the Dr. Feelgood episode (#1x03), Mick told Beth that he trusts her. Tonight on the verge of dying, he told Leni that he trusts Beth.

That bite scene.... Ooooooooo my! Beth offering her blood willingly. Did you notice her breathing?! :> Mick trying to get her to leave with Leni. Finally, giving in and allowing her to save his life again! Mick ~ "At some point, you're gonna have to stop me." Gave me goosebumps!

I enjoyed the way Mick broke through the door and simply snapped the annoying assassin's neck. So easy for him.

Another unforgettable final scene from Moonlight! I had to use photos of that last scene for my post. Mick leaning on one side of the door, Beth doing the same on the opposite side. Connected, yet separated. Underscored by the haunting melody of Into Dust by Mazzy Star. Perfect!

Alex O'Loughlin to appear on episode of Criminal Minds

FINALLY! We've all been waiting for an Alex O'Loughlin sighting on television or the big screen. According to Michael Ausiello @ Entertainment Weekly Magazine, Alex will guest star on a soon to air episode of the CBS show, Criminal Minds. I am thrilled to know we will get some Alex time. It is soooooo important for him to stay out there and be seen. Hollywood has a short memory. This will tide us over until Alex's own show hits the air.... hopefully!

The Ausiello Files
Exclusive: 'Moonlight' vamp Alex O'Loughlin returns to CBS

Finally, I have a bone to throw all you inconsolable Moonlight fans.

The dead drama's central blood sucker, Alex O'Loughlin, is returning to CBS in an upcoming episode of Criminal Minds, sources confirm to me exclusively

The change-of-pace hour, which is tentatively scheduled to air in April, will track a case from the POV of a serial killer, played by O'Loughlin.

This is O'Loughlin's first leap back into TV since Moonlight was laid to rest nine months ago. At press tour last month, CBS president Nina Tassler -- who signed the Aussie hunk to a development deal in August -- hinted that we may see him back on the network "soon" in a new project.

What say you, Moonlight fans? Happy to see O'Loughlin sinking his teeth into another meaty TV role -- even if he's not literally doing so? Sound off below!

Recap of Moonlight's 3rd outing on the Sci-Fi Channel

Spoiler Alert.... This is a recap for Moonlight's Dr. Feelgood episode (#1x03).

I adore this photo of Mick St John and his cool car. How would you like to glance up and see that waiting for you?!?

We learned several things in Dr. Feelgood. Moonlight vamps can eat, but the food just has no taste. In order to be turned, you must be drained to the point of death & then feed your sire's blood. If the sire does not teach the fledgling what it means to be a vamp, things can go horribly wrong. The first thing a newly turned vamp needs is to feed. There are several hundred Vampyres in Los Angeles. However, they do not have a clubhouse. *grin*

When Beth is researching Vampyres online, Josh appears with a little midnight snack. So thoughtful. Back to that vamp lore on Beth's huge computer screen.... Josh obviously notices what she is researching. Beth's new interest in blood drinkers just happens to coincide with meeting Mick. Josh is an intelligent guy. His DA instincts will kick in & you know he will investigate the man who has taken Beth's attention from him.

I know that some people have speculated as to whether or not Mick knew Coraline was a Vampire before she turned him. He makes it quite clear that he had no idea.

Again the plot parallels Mick's life. The loneliness of Gerald Stovsky, our rocket scientist vamp. The doctor being turned against his will.

Laughed out loud at Mick's annoyance with Guillermo sending him so many text messages.

Mick has never needed the Cleaner's services, which means he was discreet even back in his wild days.

Mick is so afraid that Beth will see him as a monster. Since he thinks of himself that way, he can't imagine that she does not.

"And stay in the car means?" hehehehe.....

Alex O'Loughlin has such amazing command of his expressions. Just the look on his face spoke volumes about what he was feeling when Beth exclaimed that the vamp doctor had killed his own wife.

We got another patented Mick "ouch." That always makes me chuckle.

What a heart Mick has.... He tried to reason with the rogue to get him to reconnect with his humanity. That didn't work.

They sedate their patients with some heavy duty meds cuz that lady slept through Dr. Jeff sitting on her bed, chatting and then fighting with Mick! ha!

Mick went to Beth to tell her how he became a Vampire. He chose to put his trust in her. And, he reached out to her this time... placing his hand over hers in the doorway. Great final scene, again!

Ratings for Moonlight's 2nd episode on the Sci-Fi Channel

Nielsen ratings for Moonlight tv show's 2nd episode on SciFi Network ~ Out of the Past (episode #1x02) ~ on Friday, January 30th, 2009

Number of viewers ~ 1.199 million

As you will notice, Moonlight's viewership was up slightly from last week's 1.166. For those who wanna compare, Battlestar Galactica's ratings were down a bit to 1.560 million.

Australian Cosmopolitan leaves Alex O'Loughlin off list of Homegrown Hunks

Cosmopolitan Magazine Australia recently complied their list of "Homegrown Hunks." Shockingly, Alex O'Loughlin is not included among the 26 choices! They pick men like the one pictured above (Sorry for singling you out, Curtis Stone)... but... don't recognize Alex's beauty?!? At least, they were smart enough to select Hugh Jackman and Simon Baker. However, Alex is much better looking and sexier than the majority of men on the list. I'm sure that you will agree. Lots of people have already left comments asking why Alex is missing. Click on the link below to see the entire list of "hunks."

US Weekly Magazine talks about Moonlight

US Weekly Magazine (February 9th, 2009 issue) has a small blurb about Moonlight due to the season one reruns currently airing on the Sci-Fi Channel. Alex O'Loughlin is singled out for special mention. They gave Moonlight a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. YEA! It is great to see our show receiving press coverage :)

Here's what they had to say..........

Moonlight Television Series

Before True Blood and Twilight, there was the CBS vampire drama ~ which died in 2008 after just one season ( despite a rabid following ). Sexy Alex O'Loughlin charms as Mick St. John, a melancholy private detective, who moonlights as a bloodsucker. The case and mythology mildly intrigue, while the cast has, yes, serious bite.

Recap ~ Moonlight's Out of the Past episode (#1x02)

SPOILER ALERT ~ Recap of Out of the Past ~ Episode #1x02 ~ airing on Sci-Fi Channel

Since we were introduced to Beth Turner and Mick St John in No Such Thing as Vampires (pilot episode #1x01), the writers were able to explore their budding relationship in this episode. Alex O'Loughlin is so into the character. Even when he is not speaking, his eyes and body language talk to us.

Lee Jay had great reference books. Everyone, including Beth and the assassin in Sleeping Beauty, assumes that the old stories of stakes killing vamps and such are true. However, Lee Jay knows that staking will only paralyze and silver is poison to Moonlight vamps.

If Mick told me that someone was trouble, I would believe him. He is so sincere when he says "Trust me."

How funny was the exchange between Mick and his former police pal, Bobby? "Hey... what's with these muscles? How you stayin so fit? "Uh you know... diet"

Mick looks sooooooo good at the book release party. :)

You have to really hate someone to bash your own head into a glass and then to shoot yourself. No escape for Mick in that restroom.... turning in circles... caged.

We learned more about Mick in the past. He calls himself "young and stupid." He sure gave Lee Jay a beating. Of course, that is when he thought violence solved everything.

Love the 80's flashback scene of Mick and Josef. "Red or White?" Duran Duran! I would like to see an entire episode about that time in their long lives.

Tough love from Josef.

Who did Mick go to for help? Beth!

Poor Josh! Beth calling out another man's name in her sleep had to hurt. He is a decent, cute and good guy..... just can't compete with Mick. Who could? He did the right thing and helped Mick.

I also like that Mick is a gentleman and thanked Josh.

Beth learning this early in the series that Mick is a Vampire has been the source of debate. Many people feel that it was too soon, or that she shouldn't have known until the final episode. I happen to like the fact that she already knows. Beth is an investigative reporter after all. She wouldn't be very good if she ignored the facts. When the hero has a secret identity, it has always bothered me that the love interest has to be blind to all the evidence piling up around them.

Another symptom of the love interest is the constant need to be rescued. Which is why I love the fact that Beth saved Mick this time! "I thought I told you to stay in the car." haha....

Alex was amazing in the last scene.... his breathing and voice. You could just feel Mick's pain. When he showed up at her apartment, he wanted to tell Beth that he was a vamp but couldn't. Now he was not only going to be forced to reveal himself, but had to do so while vamped out. Showing her the "monster" he believes himself to be.

Fan Question ~ Why does Mick St John sleep in a freezer?

Welcome to all the new Moonlight fans who are discovering the series on Sci-Fi :) I've already been receiving heaps of emails and comments from you. YEA! Several messages asking why Mick St John sleeps in a freezer instead of a coffin as in most Vampire stories. I watched an interview with Alex O'Loughlin where he discussed the freezer thing. He said the Moonlight vamps had discovered that "their physical bodies decay over time over the hundreds of years" and the cold "slows down that process of decay."

Recap ~ No Such Thing as Vampires ~ Pilot Episode #1x01

Let's talk about Moonlight's pilot episode ~ No Such Thing as Vampires (#1x01).

SPOILER ALERT! If you STILL haven't seen the first episode of the series, do not read this post..... unless you want to know what happens :)

I enjoyed watching the pilot again! Reviewing it with the knowledge of what happens in future episodes made it especially interesting. We know that Moonlight just gets better and better every week.

Did you notice it is Beth's voice asking the questions during the "Interview with a Vampire" opening scene? Mick wants her to understand him. He is afraid she will see him as the monster that he perceives himself to be since being turned.

The first time we see Mick in his trusty freezer. YUM!

Marshall sighting! I like the show Alias, so it was nice to see Kevin Weisman pop up as Beth's camera guy. Just wish he had more to do. He had one of the lines that made me giggle. When Beth says, "I've become a news whore overnight." Steve replies, "Not overnight." ha!

When the handsome Lt Carl and Beth are talking at the crime scene, I wondered (again) just how well they know each other. They appear to be pretty familiar. Is that just from Beth's crime reporting? It is mentioned that this is her first on air story for BuzzWire, but she has obviously been writing articles for a while before making the move to being on camera.

I still want one of those cool iPhones.

Many of my favorite Josef quotes are from this episode. "Sooner or later your inner vampire is going to demand to be fed." <--- currently my profile phrase on MySpace. "What is it? Like... Non-fat, soy, Vegan blood?" "Vampire experts ~ beautiful! Now, we got the food mouthing off about the farmer." "Vampire solidarity ~ rah, rah, rah and all that." Better restrain myself or I will end up quoting every line that Jason Dohring utters.

Rudolf Martin plays Professor Christian Ellis. He thinks he is a vamp on our show, and he portrayed Dracula on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Beth smashing a vase over Mick's head and his emotionless "Ouch" makes me laugh every time. As does this exchange.... "How do I know you're not the killer? Well, because I'm not killing you. ......let's go with that cuz that's comforting..."

She is surprised that he knows who she is and all about BuzzWire.

I've mentioned this before.... this bit of dialogue between Beth and Mick gets me laughing too. "So, we're talking Vampires? You know, some people actually find them attractive. Really? Yea." Poor Mick! His "yea" sounds so deflated.

Leaving the funeral, Mick gets into his car. Beth places her hand on his to stop him & ask for the blood vial. He looks down at her hand on top of his for a split second. Alex is great with these little moments that tell you so much about Mick's feelings.

Mick is so smooth with the professor's wife. Imagine him showing up on your doorstep. Ooooo my....

The scene in which Mick confronts the professor, and he thinks he is schooling Mick in the ways of the Vampire is too amusing. "When most people hear the word Vampyre, they immediately conjure up an image of some undead monstrosity running around at night trying to drink human blood." With the perfect expression on his face, Mick says "hate that" under his breath. *chuckle* This scene also reminds me of one in Alex's film, Feed, in which he faces off with the cop.

Love the camera angle used when Mick closes the blinds in the professor's office.

Carl.... "Threesomes never end well" hehehe

Josef in Mick's loft when he returns is a cool scene. They play so well off each other. I will contain my desire to quote the whole thing. :)

Since I'm super into diners, Cadillac Jack's is my kinda place. Well.... except for the possibility of getting murdered by a crazy grad student thing.

Speaking of.... How come the creepy killer TA, Daniel, gets to use an accent but Alex O'Loughlin doesn't?!? *grin*

Adore how Mick is protective and concerned for Beth.

We got to see Mick vamp out several times in this episode. YEA! He easily manhandles the professor (priceless expression on his face when Mick transforms into a Vampire in front of him) and the killer.

Even though he is hurt during the car chase/crash, Mick wills himself to get up and run to save Beth. The silly killer thinks he has triumphed by stabbing Mick. That smug expression quickly changes to shock & fear as Mick stands again... and hurls him effortlessly!

During the flashback fight scene with Coraline, they are beating each other senseless. In the middle of it, for a brief moment they starting kissing! Then, back to fighting. Josef is correct in his assessment of their crazy love.

Throughout the episode, Beth is convinced that she has seen Mick before they "met" at the crime scene. After he rescues her from Daniel, she awakens on his couch. She says that he saved her when she was little. Mick dismisses the truth again by saying, "You got a really nasty bump on your head tonight."

Moonlight does ending scenes better than any other show. It all began with the one tonight. Beth hugs Mick in gratitude and he slowly puts his arms around her in return. Just the look on his face conveys the emotions.

There are some time line discrepancies, which we have talked about previously. Josef says Mick is 90 years old, but Mick tells Beth he is 85 in a future episode. When Mick holds out his hand to Beth at the end, the voice over states, "60 years is a long time to deny yourself the touch of another." However, he has only been a vamp since 1952. He was on & off with Coraline until she kidnapped Beth (and he thought he killed her) in 1985. Several things could explain these differences...... We have all rounded years up and/or down in telling a story. Or, exaggerated to make a point. There were sooo many behind the scenes changes before Moonlight ever even aired. Originally, Mick was supposed to meet & marry Coraline in the 1940's. None of this keeps me from loving the show ~ in case you hadn't noticed *wink*

iF Magazine reviews Moonlight's newly released DVD

iF Magazine has published their review of the new Moonlight DVD. They have the same chief complaint that we do... no extras :(

DVD Review: 'MOONLIGHT: THE COMPLETE SERIES'

Fans get their beloved show in one set, but why no extras at all?

Grade: B
Stars: Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring, Shannyn Sossamon, Tami Roman
Writer(s): Ron Koslow, Trevor Munson
Release Date: Jan. 20, 2009
SRP: $39.98
Rating: NR
Distributor: Warner Home Video

By EMERSON PARKER, Contributing Writer

I guess the one good thing about MOONLIGHT: THE COMPLETE SERIES is that they actually gave fans the series in its entirety relatively quickly. Unlike fans of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and other genre shows that have come and gone and been fan favorites, they didn’t have to wait years.

Of course, this is just a bit of solace to fans of the show that believe the show should never have been cancelled in the first place and that CBS gave the series an unfair opportunity especially given the shortened season due to the four-month long writer’s strike from the 2007-2008 season. That also took away other shows that fans were getting attached to too soon as well, such as JOURNEYMAN.

But probably the biggest slap in the face of the fans in terms of the DVD is the fact that MOONLIGHT: THE COMPLETE SERIES lacks any special features at all. Really? You couldn’t get Alex O’Loughlin or Shannyn Sossamon or Sophia Myles at all for one interview? You couldn’t put together a few clips from behind-the-scenes and include them? There were no deleted scenes at all? Really? That’s just a big slap in the face and something that Warner Home Video – usually really good about adding extras – should have done, because this would be a DVD where fans would eat it up and actually watch the special features with a lot of interest.

That’s just not right. And I don’t know how any fan can be happy about it.

But again, those same fans are just probably happy to have the episodes in their collection and the ability to watch them whenever they want and in digital in a nice digital transfer from the already impressive widescreen broadcast presentation.

The story is an interesting one centering on L.A. private eye Mick St. John (O’Loughlin) who makes a living by learning about other people’s secrets and revealing them to those who pay him for such information. But the biggest secret of all is from St. John because he’s a vampire, yes a creature of the night with a past as complex as, well, all vampire series. He’s been good. He’s been bad. He’s loved. He’s lost.

Now he is drawn to a new love with a human woman (Sophia Myles) but his memories of his wife that turned him originally into a vampire (Shannyn Sossamon) and his lingering relationships with other vampires and the underworld leaves him troubled with his past, his present and maintaining a cover as a PI.

DIGITAL TRANSFER
Looks great. The widescreen it was originally shot on looks even better in this digital transfer of the series.

SPECIAL FEATURES
As stated above, there are none.

THE LAST WORD
Obviously, fans of the series will be buying this set. No if, ands or buts about it. But I gotta imagine they aren’t too happy about not having anything other than just the 16 episodes. A for the series, but because the DVD lacks extras it gets a B.

By supporting Moonlight on Amazon, fans help to get DVD release for show

Thanks to all loyal Moonlight fans for preordering the Season One DVD, sharing your reviews, buying the episodes, etc on Amazon! As David Horiuchi wrote on Armchair Commentary, the continued support from you helped to convince Warner Bros to release the series on disc. *cheer*

We also owe David a huge debt of gratitude for passing on our desire for Moonlight on DVD to the WB. You may leave a comment for him in response to his blog post below, and/or send a "thank you" email to armchaircommentary@amazon.com. Since there are several contributors writing for Armchair, be sure that you specify David Horiuchi in your message.

This just emphasizes the good things that can come from us vocally promoting Moonlight :)

Best DVDs of January 2009: "Moonlight: The Complete Series"
by David Horiuchi
DVD & Video editor at Amazon.com

What it is: No, it's not Twilight, which is also about vampires so you'd certainly be excused for the confusion. Nor is it True Blood, which is also a recent vampire-centric TV series. Moonlight is the series that debuted on CBS in the fall of 2007 and was unceremoniously canceled after one season. Alex O'Loughlin plays Mick St. John, a vampire who mingles with the human world by working as a private investigator then finds himself falling for a human (Sophia Myles).

Why it's Significant: When it was canceled after one strike-interrupted season, Moonlight seemed destined to join the ranks of TV shows that had a devoted following but were quickly tossed on the dust heap. But even worse, when I talked to the folks at Warner Home Video in the summer of 2008, they said they had no plans to release Moonlight on DVD--it wasn't even going to get the chance to become another Firefly. I explained to them that Amazon customers were passionate about the show, that you had signed up in droves to be the First To Know when it was available on DVD. You had bought the episodes on Amazon Video On Demand and written hundreds of customer reviews on the AVOD page and on the First To Know page. And you had sent us e-mails and posted on our discussion boards that you wanted Moonlight on DVD. In October, Warner Home Video announced that Moonlight was indeed coming out on DVD, in January 2009. Though it's hard to say for sure what happened at Warner, I think it's safe to say that Amazon customers played a big role in getting their show on DVD. --David
