Syfy Network Contact Information

Many have been requesting contact information for the Syfy Channel. Some want to tell the network executives "Thank You!" for airing reruns of Moonlight, others want to encourage them to continue repeating our show, ask them to consider producing a Moonlight mini-series &/or tv movie, some want to do all of the above! Such good manners! =) I have posted the channel's info several times in the past, but here it is again for ya.

Keep in mind, sending email messages is great. However, taking just a few minutes to write & mail an actual postcard or letter has more impact. Postcards can be read immediately, while letters may not be opened at all. Of course, we need to continue to be polite & concise in all correspondence.

Also, for those interested, you can become a tv panel member for the NBC networks (Syfy, Bravo, CNN, Lifetime, Telemundo, MSNBC, USA, WE, Oxygen, The Weather Channel, NBC, etc). You will be able to take surveys about channels/programs you watch or don't watch & give feedback. If you wish to sign up, use the following link.....

CBS boss weighs in on Moonlight’s possible RESURRECTION

Uplifting news today, my friends! Matt Mitovich asked Nina Tassler about the possible return of Moonlight. She admits to discussing it with Joel Silver recently! Also, not surprisingly, Tassler says CBS wants to hang onto Alex O'Loughlin.

I find it funny that she makes the exact same point we've been screaming since our series was canceled........ Namely, CBS could have been in the forefront of the Vampire craze with an established show, amazing cast & writers, and a hugely popular leading man in Alex! Instead, they made the unbelievable decision to cancel Moonlight *sigh*

You have done such an excellent job of keeping Moonlight alive in the thoughts of entertainment reporters/bloggers, network exes, Silver Productions, Warner Bros, etc etc. Demonstrating how loyal and dedicated Moonlight fans are to our show! I am so proud of you :)

For those who want to join in sending postcards, letters and emails, I have posted the addresses for the WB, Silver Productions, et al in previous posts on my blog.

CBS Boss Weighs In On ‘Moonlight’s Possible Resurrection
by Matt Webb Mitovich

Will CBS jump on the bloodsucking bandwagon and bring ‘Moonlight‘ back to life?

Sources tell Fancast that one of the former vampire drama’s producers and a few original cast members have been approached by CBS and producer Warner Bros. TV about making another go of it.

And really, who could blame CBS for now second-guessing its decision to snuff the series two years ago, given the success of the ‘Twilight’ movies, HBO’s ‘True Blood‘ and now The CW’s ‘Vampire Diaries‘?

Fancast asked CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler about the latest buzz, and whether ‘Moonlight 2.0′ could serve as a means to keep the very popular Alex O’Loughlin on the network’s payroll.

“I just want to say one thing – who was out there first with vampires?” she at first responded. “Who was out there first?”

So…? Might Mick St. John resurface for another “bite”?

“['Moonlight' executive producer] Joel Silver and I were talking about it the other day – but we talk about a lot of things,’ Tassler told us. Any possible ‘Moonlight’ rebirth would be a ways down the line, however, seeing as “we’re about to pick up all of our [2010-11 season] pilots,” Tassler stressed.

One way or another, CBS is determined to find a new project for Alex O’Loughlin, whose ‘Three Rivers’ has been canceled, Tassler confirmed on Saturday.

“We love [Alex] and want him to stay around for a long time,” she said.

As for why the organ donation-themed medical drama failed to draw an adequate audience despite the Aussie actor’s ardent and vocal following, she offered, “‘Moonlight’ was a much more [O'Loughlin]-centric show, whereas ‘Three Rivers’ was more of an ensemble.” She then added, “Some shows find their legs earlier than others.”

Their official synopsis for the show.....

Moonlight (2007)
Red-blooded and romantic cult favorite about vampire-detective Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin) and Web-tabloid reporter Beth Turner (Sophia Myles) solving strange murders in Los Angeles, where a community of the undead thrives just under the radar of the human population. Viewers late to the game take note: the series revamps the rulebook of traditional vampire mythology, with garlic, holy water and wooden stakes having no effect on their targets. Co-created by Ron Koslow, who developed the heart-fluttering Linda Hamilton-Ron Perlman television series Beauty and the Beast. With Jason Dohring and Shannyn Sossamon.

The cable ratings have finally been released! Big thanks to the lovely Robert Seidman @ TV By The Numbers for tracking down the info for us :) Moonlight's premiere on the Sci Fi Channel was watched by just over a million people. We need to continue spreading the word for new folks to tune in every Friday night. I have talked to several people recently in random lines, at restaurants, etc who had no idea Moonlight was gonna be replayed on Sci-Fi. A friend living in TX also informed me that she does not get the channel on her cable service. BOO!

By supporting Moonlight on Amazon, fans help to get DVD release for show

Thanks to all loyal Moonlight fans for preordering the Season One DVD, sharing your reviews, buying the episodes, etc on Amazon! As David Horiuchi wrote on Armchair Commentary, the continued support from you helped to convince Warner Bros to release the series on disc. *cheer*

We also owe David a huge debt of gratitude for passing on our desire for Moonlight on DVD to the WB. You may leave a comment for him in response to his blog post below, and/or send a "thank you" email to armchaircommentary@amazon.com. Since there are several contributors writing for Armchair, be sure that you specify David Horiuchi in your message.

This just emphasizes the good things that can come from us vocally promoting Moonlight :)

Amazon Blogs ~ Armchair Commentary
Best DVDs of January 2009: "Moonlight: The Complete Series"
by David Horiuchi
DVD & Video editor at Amazon.com

What it is: No, it's not Twilight, which is also about vampires so you'd certainly be excused for the confusion. Nor is it True Blood, which is also a recent vampire-centric TV series. Moonlight is the series that debuted on CBS in the fall of 2007 and was unceremoniously canceled after one season. Alex O'Loughlin plays Mick St. John, a vampire who mingles with the human world by working as a private investigator then finds himself falling for a human (Sophia Myles).

Why it's Significant: When it was canceled after one strike-interrupted season, Moonlight seemed destined to join the ranks of TV shows that had a devoted following but were quickly tossed on the dust heap. But even worse, when I talked to the folks at Warner Home Video in the summer of 2008, they said they had no plans to release Moonlight on DVD--it wasn't even going to get the chance to become another Firefly. I explained to them that Amazon customers were passionate about the show, that you had signed up in droves to be the First To Know when it was available on DVD. You had bought the episodes on Amazon Video On Demand and written hundreds of customer reviews on the AVOD page and on the First To Know page. And you had sent us e-mails and posted on our discussion boards that you wanted Moonlight on DVD. In October, Warner Home Video announced that Moonlight was indeed coming out on DVD, in January 2009. Though it's hard to say for sure what happened at Warner, I think it's safe to say that Amazon customers played a big role in getting their show on DVD. --David

Sci Fi Network message board dedicated to Moonlight

As I reported previously, the Sci-Fi Channel will begin airing reruns of Moonlight Season One on Friday, January 23rd, 2009. They have already set up a forum for fans to discuss the show :) Do you remember how long it took CBS to give our series its own message board when it originally aired? We had to wait for months even tho it was a first run program for CBS. I'm glad to see that Sci-Fi does not waste time. Let's be sure to thank them for bringing Mick, Beth, Coraline, Josef and the gang back to our television screens! And..... it couldn't hurt to tell the network how much we would love to see a Moonlight tv movie *wink*

Hey Nielsen! ranking system has changed

Several of the great fans who keep Moonlight & its cast at the top of Hey Nielsen's rankings have emailed new information to me. Apparently, the way the website handles its ratings has changed. The show and stars need opinions now more than ever! It is also important to leave comments and react to other people's opinions.

Right now, Moonlight is still #1.... that is due to the continued dedication of the fans. However, Alex O'Loughlin has fallen from #2 to #3, and the rest of the cast completely out of the Top Ten. Just think ~ you get to tell everyone what you think about our show, Sophia Myles, Alex O'Loughlin, Shannyn Sossamon, Jason Dohring, Brian J White, David Blue and Eric Winter while helping to maintain its visibility :)

http://www.heynielsen.com/view/moonlight/

Update : I just found out that my Alex O'Loughlin fan blog has its own listing on Hey Nielsen! http://www.heynielsen.com/view/alex-oloughlin-fanblog/ WOW! Not sure how this happened. They did not contact me, so I don't know if the website staff simply picked my page or if the fans nominated it. Either way.... it is a great honor. Thank you for all your wonderful support :) It means a great deal to me!

Continuing to contact Joel Silver & Warner Bros Studio

WOW! I've received heaps of messages from folks letting me know that they have also been writing to Warner Bros & Joel Silver. Urging them to give us more Moonlight. That makes me too happy :) :) :) I'm thrilled that you have been in this campaign too.... and not at all surprised by your dedication. We've been contacting Silver Pictures & the WB for months, and will continue to do so ~ right?!?!?

Many comments came from international fans saying that they have been sending mail. Some are using postcards showcasing their country. Very smart! Movie studios & producers want to make piles of money in the US and abroad. Mounds of colorful fan mail adorned with "Greetings from....... Australia, Germany, Brazil, Israel, England, Canada, Russia, Italy, Spain, Ireland, etc etc" is a great visual to remind them of the $$$ to be made around the world with Moonlight.

I received another exciting batch of emails from those who have not been writing to Joel Silver &/or Warner Bros ~ but now plan to after hearing Alex O'Loughlin's encouraging remarks. *cheer*

You asked for ideas about what to write. It is best to be concise and on point, since you are contacting busy people. Here are a few things I have written in various messages.... I will follow Moonlight no matter where it goes.... ask for a DVD release for season one.... encourage them to produce a film..... point out the continued support from fans even though Moonlight was canceled months ago.... express my love for our show (cast, crew and writers).... unlimited storylines.... thanks for giving us Moonlight in the first place.... Vampires are extremely popular right now.... untapped revenue to be had from movies & merchandise.... and so on :)

Official Press Release........

Alex O’Loughlin / Moonlight Blood Drive

Fans of the recently cancelled CBS vampire detective television series Moonlight have organized the Alex O’Loughlin / Moonlight Blood Drive to be held in San Diego, California on Friday and Saturday, 7/24-7/25/08. It will be hosted by Trevor Munson, co-creator of the series.

The freshman series amassed a huge fan base and a cult-like following, as evidenced by winning the “Favorite New TV Drama” on The Peoples Choice Awards.

The Alex O’Loughlin / Moonlight Blood Drive will be held at the W Hotel San Diego, 421 West B Street from 11:00 AM-4:30 PM Friday and Saturday. Trevor Munson will be available both days during these hours to sign autographs and chat about Moonlight and upcoming projects.

Trevor Munson is very proud to be hosting the blood drive. In his words: “When I was writing the novel that Moonlight was based on, I hoped to connect with those who read it one day in the way one does when creating a work of fiction. I hoped it would entertain and perhaps even inspire people in positive ways in their own lives. Eventually that novel evolved into a television show, and it was wonderful to see that eight million people a week tuned in because they liked the premise, enjoyed the stories, and cared about the characters. But nothing could have prepared me for the way that Moonlight fans took their love for the show and carried it out into the world in real and meaningful ways. Because of them, people across America and the globe, have linked themselves to blood centers and orchestrated blood donation efforts on behalf of the show they came to love … It is humbling and wonderful to have been a part of creating something that has served as a catalyst for so much good. I thank you all, and would like to take this opportunity to invite others (fans of the show or not) to come and join us in the spirit of the goodwill and giving at these events.”

Alex O’Loughlin is a dedicated supporter of the blood drive efforts. To support Alex and Moonlight, make an appointment at www.givelife.org and use the password Moonlight. This will take the donor straight to the events calendar where he/she can make an appointment for a time between 11:00 AM and 4:30 PM each day. Donors with an appointment will be given preference over walk-ins. Come out, save a life, and see Trevor Munson! The W Hotel San Diego is only 8 short miles from the Comic Con Convention, which is being held the same weekend.

The Alex O’Loughlin / Moonlight Blood Drive is being sponsored by www.youchoose.net, which is the place for fans of TV programs to join campaigns for their favorite shows, including “save our show” campaigns. The American Red Cross states that every two seconds someone needs blood, but only a small percentage of those who are eligible actually donate. Donating blood is a great way to make a difference in your community. Please go to www.givelife.org to find the nearest Red Cross Blood Service Region.

Fans who need information and do not have an internet connection can call 800-335-4852 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Pacific Time daily. To respond to this press release call or e-mail Barbara Arnold at robes4you@aol.com.

The only three sites exclusively affiliated with the Alex O’Loughlin / Moonlight Blood Drive are www.youchoose.net, www.moonlightblooddrive.org and www.officialalexoloughlinfanclub.com. For additional information, please contact the representatives listed on the three sites.

Nina Tassler comments on canceling Moonlight

Hello all.... On Friday, I read comments Nina Tassler made regarding Moonlight. This was reported by several sources who attended the 2008 Television Critics Association Press Tour. I've posted examples below. After reading what Tassler had to say, I had many thoughts streaming thru my head (I know you will also). I wanted to at least attempt to get those thoughts in order before posting this for you.

As you know, when I started my Moonlight blog I shared with you that I was already writing, emailing and calling CBS in support of our show. I was very aware of the fact that Moonlight was not the "normal" series and needed its fans to be heard. I asked you all to do that same. You joined the campaign with such wonderful enthusiasm. :) We continued communicating with the network right through the cancelation of Moonlight.

I can not begin to count the number of emails and comments I received from Moonlight fans who were contacting CBS. Lots of you even posted the messages you sent to them for all of us to read here on the blog. The notes got our point across but were dignified, polite and gracious... even after we learned that our show had been canceled. Just like the messages we have seen and heard from Trevor Munson, Alex O'Loughlin, Jason Dohring, etc.

One thing Nina Tassler says is that the fan response to Moonlight is "actor-centric." We all know she is referring to Alex O'Loughlin. Of course, Alex is a huge draw! DUH! Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a good thing? Don't you hire a leading man to do precisely that?

I was an Alex fan long before Moonlight. However, that is not the only reason that I am addicted. The vast majority of the messages I sent to CBS were about how fantastic the show is... the writers... the entire cast. You also shared with us that you did the same. We all know that MickBeth was the topic of innumerable letters, voicemails, emails and such.

Even if we were tuning in just to see Alex as Mick St John, since when is that a problem? Most television executives don't care WHY you are watching their show. They only care that your eyeballs are on their network and not some place else. It's about ratings leading to ad revenue.

In my opinion, the comments are simply an attempt at damage control. TPTB do not like to admit that they are wrong. I know you are shocked by that ~ *wink*

I'm happy to see that the entertainment reporters are still asking about Moonlight. Most canceled shows do not receive this kind of sustained attention in the media. That is because you have been doing an amazing job of keeping our show alive!

Sorry about the long winded post. I'm stopping myself now! I took the extra time to organize my thoughts so that I wouldn't ramble on. That didn't quite work out :)

Tube Talk ~ STLToday.com
Excerpts from TCA press tour: CBS party, only for the hardy
By Gail Pennington

The point of these events is to give visiting TV critics a chance to mingle with and interview actors, producers and network executives; people you either haven’t seen during the formal press conferences during the day or haven’t had a chance to talk to. The point isn’t really to have fun, although some of the parties can be fun.

...CBS partnered with the CW and Showtime and went all out, busing us to the club Boulevard3 in Hollywood...

...I again tried to get into the club and this time succeeded. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, in a strapless dress, was just outside the door; her publicist was rotating interviewers through on a 90-second time limit. Uh … no. Somebody handed me a glass of champagne (good) and a cone of french fries with rosemary mayonnaise (very good), but it was hard to walk without spilling on myself. After the crowd outside, the club was almost empty. That gave me a chance to talk to Nina Tassler, president of CBS Entertainment, who told me the “Moonlight” supporters had sent her red wine, and that she actually tried a bottle, but it was terrible. Although she had to cancel “Moonlight,” she said, she wouldn’t rule out another project for its star, Alex O’Loughlin.

Television : Breaking News : THE FINAL WORD ON 'MOONLIGHT' FROM CBS
By Carl Cortez

The stake in the heart of the show has been there for some time, but at least we now know why it was cancelled

LOCATION: The underworld

THE SKINNY: While MOONLIGHT has faded into the darkness, it was still important to check in with CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler at today’s TCA press tour about any final words on the series which starred Alex O’Laughlin as vamp Mick St. John.

“Everybody knows I love vampires, witches, werewolves, warlocks – I love them all,” says Tassler. “The response to MOONLIGHT was actually more actor-centric. So I think it certainly measures our decision on the show. Like I said, I don’t question the choice we made. I’m not getting as much mail and most of those comments were actor-centric.

So does that mean CBS would hire O’Loughlin in a heartbeat?

“Sure,” says Tassler. “We’d love to.”

San Diego blood drive hosted by Trevor Munson ~ July 25th & 26th

Speaking of blood drives....... I know a lot of you are riled up about going to the annual San Diego Comic Con 2008 (July 24th to 27th). Moonlight was introduced at last year's convention so it will always be special to Moonlight fans! I remember seeing videos & photos of our cast and falling even more for the show.

This year, an Alex O'Loughlin/Moonlight blood drive is planned to coincide with the convention. It will be held at the W Hotel because the con has a long standing, wonderful drive of its own. Can you imagine how many lives are going to be saved by the combined efforts of these events?!? Too exciting!

If this news hasn't already gotten you charged up.... The event is going to be hosted by our own Trevor Munson! YEA! Check out the adorable photo of him in the banner. For new international Moonlight fans who may not know that name, he is the co-creator & co-executive producer of our show. Without him, we would not have Mick St John. Trevor is such a gifted writer, as well as an unpretentious & funny man. I have no doubts that you will make him... and all of us... proud :)

New message from Alex O'Loughlin to fans about blood drives!

Alex O'Loughlin has sent a new message to all his fans! *cheer* It is soooooo good to hear from him again :) He writes about his continuing support for the American Red Cross and the Moonlight fans' blood drive. We know that Alex is a gracious, sincere person who wouldn't become involved with a charity if he didn't mean it. It never even entered my mind that he would turn his back on the campaign simply because Moonlight was canceled. Alex is not that kind of guy.... another reason that he means so much to us!

I'm reposting the video of Alex's wonderful public service announcement for the Red Cross.

I SUPPORT THE CONTINUED EFFORTS OF THE MOONLIGHT BLOOD DRIVE

AS YOU ALL KNOW, IN APRIL I SPOKE OUT IN SUPPORT OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS AND THE MOONLIGHT BLOOD DRIVES SPONSORED BY MOONLIGHTBLOODDRIVE.ORG AND IT'S ORGANIZERS.

ALTHOUGH THE SHOW HAS NOT BEEN PICKED UP, I AM STILL STRONGLY IN SUPPORT OF THE IDEA OF SAVING LIVES THROUGH THE CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE MOONLIGHT FANS...

TO FIND OUT HOW TO HOST A BLOOD DRIVE OR DONATE BLOOD, PLEASE GO TO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING SITES:

www.moonlightblooddrive.org

THE SITE WILL CARRY UPDATED INFORMATION ABOUT BLOOD DRIVES AND LOCATIONS. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT OF THIS CHARITABLE CAUSE.

BEST REGARDS AND THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE

Vote for Sophia Myles in the SyFy Portal Genre Awards

It is time to vote for Sophia Myles in the SyFy Portal Genre Awards! You know that she has been included in the Best Actress/Television category for her role as Beth Turner. As I posted previously, I think Alex O'Loughlin/Mick St John, Jason Dohring/Josef Kostan and Moonlight should have been nominated also. Of course, the snub will not keep us from voting for our girl :)

Voting will be allowed until July 25th, 2008. You can vote once daily per email address.
