New interview with Moonlight actor David Blue

iF Magazine recently chatted with everyone's favorite slobby vampire, Logan (David Blue), from Moonlight. He is ready to do a Moonlight movie also :)

Television :
Exclusive Interview: DAVID BLUE STEPS THROUGH THE 'STARGATE UNIVERSE' PORTAL

The actor talks about the SyFy Channel series that he's on now, MOONLIGHT and UGLY BETTY (which he used to be on)

By T.K. DEHN

David Blue is only in his twenties, but he’s already on his fourth cult TV series, STARGATE UNIVERSE, after having regular/recurring roles on the vampire drama MOONLIGHT, the comedy UGLY BETTY and the youth-skewing THE SUITE LIFE OF ZACK & CODY. He’s happy to talk about all of them, plus he chats about shows he hasn’t been on (HEROES, CHUCK), but loves anyway.

iF: Do you have fans from MOONLIGHT, where you played Logan, the techie vampire?

David Blue : Oh, yeah. Absolutely. And even better, I have good fans from MOONLIGHT, who are saying that they’re going to watch this show. [Erstwhile MOONLIGHT lead] Alex O’Loughlin is a friend of mine, and any time I can read a script, I’m like, "We’ve got to find a role for Alex on this show." I know he’s busy with his new show, THREE RIVERS, but [MOONLIGHT was] great. If [MOONLIGHT executive producer] Joel Silver and the rest of them get together and decide to do a movie, would I love to be Logan again? Abso-freaking-lutely.

iF: Did they let you keep the vamp teeth?

David Blue : No, I never had to vamp out. In the original series finale, which was the season finale, I believe it was written that Logan vamps out and jumps and does some vampire-type stuff, and all the producers sat around and went, "Nah, he’s too lazy." So I just run. That’s why I wanted to do that role, was to have the fangs. It never happened. I would love to revisit that so I can do that. And the contacts are really cool, too. I’d like to do that.

David Blue : BLUE: Please keep tabs on me, at www.David_Blue.com or twitter/davidblue. As far as STARGATE UNIVERSE, and I really, truly mean this, watch and decide for yourself, because I guarantee you, that will answer all your questions.

David Blue to appear in new Stargate television series on Sci-Fi

David Blue (who played Logan, our lovable and slobby computer nerd Vampire, on Moonlight) has been cast in the new Sci Fi Channel tv show, Stargate Universe. Congrats to him :) Here is the official press release........

JUSTIN LOUIS, DAVID BLUE, BRIAN J. SMITH AND JAMIL WALKER SMITH CAST IN SCI FI'S 'STARGATE UNIVERSE'

New York, NY January 16, 2009 SCI FI Channel has announced Justin Louis, David Blue, Brian J. Smith and Jamil Walker Smith will join the cast of the highly anticipated new original series Stargate Universe. The four will enlist alongside Robert Carlyle (Dr. Nicholas Rush) in the latest adventure in the Stargate franchise produced by MGM television. Production will begin in Vancouver in February 2009 with an eye toward a fall '09 premiere.

Edgier and younger in tone than the two previous series, SGU follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who must fend for themselves as they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack. The desperate survivors emerge aboard an ancient ship, which is locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth.

Justin Louis (Hidden Hills, The Fighting Fitzgeralds) will portray Colonel Everett Young, an experienced Stargate team leader. Married, with years of tough decisions under his belt, life has taught him never to take anything for granted. He stays on top of his team so they stay alive.

David Blue (Ugly Betty, Moonlight) stars as Eli Wallace, a total slacker, who just happens to be an utter genius with anything he puts his mind to - mathematics, computers, video games. A lack of confidence has left him with an acerbic sense of humor.

Brian J. Smith (The War Boys, Hate Crime) is Lt. Matthew Scott, a junior member of the Stargate team. Green and rough around the edges, he is thrust into the role of leader well before he's ready for the responsibility and must learn to command, earn respect through action, and manage the diverse personalities aboard the ship. Jamil Walker Smith (Waynehead, Sister, Sister) will portray Sr. Sgt. Ronald Greer, a Marine with a temper you don't want to mess with. His past is mysterious but it's clear something dark formed the hard shell around him.

Brad Wright and Robert Cooper, of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, will serve as executive producers and writers on the new series.

Stargate Universe will debut as a two-hour movie event on SCI FI and will be distributed by MGM Worldwide Television Distribution.

Message to Moonlight fans from David Blue

This is a message to the fans from David Blue, otherwise known as Moonlight's vamp slob/computer guru ~ Logan :)

MOONLIGHT "cancelled" or what?

Okay guys,

About a gajillion of you have been emailing me asking about Moonlight and what I know. Just to clear it all up, the truth is, much like Ugly Betty, I'm not really in the loop about these things. The "Series Regulars" (main leads of the show, i.e. Alex, Jason, Sophia) are the only ones who are sometimes privy to political information about the inner-workings of the shows. As a "Recurring Guest Star" (on both shows) I only really hear stuff when they want to use me or when I'm shooting. So as much as I'd love to tell you what's going on with the show, at this moment I'm getting my info from the same sources as you. (And I'm not about to call Alex or Jason and ask them directly or bother them while we're all dealing with this -- besides, Alex is on a MUCH deserved vacation. The man works fifty hours a DAY).

I would imagine that everybody involved with the show is happy and humbled by your efforts... And very appreciative. My fingers are crossed for something to come together, as I have a lot of fun playing Logan and always laugh when I work with Alex (not to mention everybody else too... Jason, Sophia, Jacob, etc).

*********************************

Now that that's cleared up, make SURE to watch this Friday night's episode!!!! I won't reveal anything, but it was fracking AWESOME to shoot and soooo cool to be involved with. Let me know what you all think!

SPOILER Video ~ Sneak peek of Mick & Beth's donut scene from Fated to Pretend (episode #1x13)

SPOILER ALERT!

This sneak peek video is of Mick and Beth's donut eating scene from Fated to Pretend (episode #1x13). You may remember Sophia Myles referencing this sequence in the interview about celebrating her birthday on Moonlight's set. I like seeing the humor they are including in the storyline. Mick is so excited about getting to have the snack. The poor guy hasn't had a donut since 1952 after all. As I have said before, Mick is lucky that he has such a vigorous exercise routine cuz he is making up for lost time with the food. *grin* Beth ~ "Two words - Krispy Kreme." David Blue hinted to me that he was part of this scene.... and there is our Logan analyzing the "diet donuts."
