E! Online ~ Top 9 Hottest Vampires Not in Twilight

Photo credit 20th Century Fox, Entertainment Pictures, Geffen Pictures

E! Online created a list of the hottest Vampires that are NOT part of the Twilight series. They did not include Mick St John, Josef, Coraline or Lola in their Top Nine :( We all know that Moonlight is bursting with sexy vamps. However, E! did leave the number ten spot open for fans to suggest who should round out the list. Let them know what you think!

Top 9 Hottest Vampires Not in Twilight
by Natasha Vargas-Cooper

Robert Pattinson didn't invent the smokin'-hot vampire. Before his army of chastity-lovin' Twilight tweens came along, bloodsuckers were synonymous with S-E-X. Hooking up with a citizen of the underworld meant steamy nights in cramped caskets, making out upside-down in the rafters and illicit fang bangs.

So as Rob Pattz prepares for a massive home invasion with this weekend's DVD release, we look back on the absolute hottest vampires not in Twilight.

Here's our top 9, with No. 10 left open for you to decide (and based on the comments, it looks like you already have):

1. Kiefer Sutherland, The Lost Boys: Proof that the undead can still rock! Sutherland and his glam gang of pasty pals sleep all day, party all night, and toss hilariously camp lines like "You'll never grow old, and you'll never die. But you must feeeeeed!"

2. Nicolas Cage, Vampire's Kiss: His (figuratively) soulless literary agent gets a hickey from a mysterious woman and is convinced he's a vampire. How could you not adore a caped Cage running down the street screaming "I'm a vampire!" Some say eating a real-life wriggling roach for a movie isn't hot, but those people are wrong.

3. Brad Pitt, Interview With the Vampire: So many wistful afternoons are spent dreaming of Pitt's Louis from this flick—so where did he go? Really, Brad, get over the "serious actor" trip, grab some extensions and fangs, and get out of the coffin and into my car!

4. Salma Hayek, From Dusk Till Dawn: As an uncredited stripper/vampire queen in the Quentin Tarantino-Robert Rodriguez flick, she only has one scene. Where she grinds a python. In a bikini. On George Clooney's table. You're welcome.

5. Tom Cruise, Interview With the Vampire: Lestat's pad is without a doubt one of the hottest spots in Hollywood's batcave. Hey, remember that part when he wrapped his mouth around that cold, scaly, reptilian creature so he could stay alive—oh, no, wait, that was Eyes Wide Shut. Whoops!

6. Susan Sarandon, The Hunger: She doesn't want to suckle just anyone's blood—she lusts after the lady blood. Decked out in shoulder pads and a sherm perm, the woman-on-woman scene in this slick little vamp flick is off the chain! It brings to mind only one word: VILF.

7. William Marshall, Blacula: He's deadlier than Dracula—he's Blacula. The ladies say his bite was outta sight!

8. Jim Carrey, Once Bitten: He's adorable as an chaste teenager hunted by an undead countess thirsty for virgin blood. It raises a puzzling question, though: What's more rare in the L.A. dating scene in—a vampire or a virgin? Also, this is the worst movie ever made about Los Angeles—besides Crash.

9. Kate Beckinsale, Underworld: She's one juicy piece of dead! Armed with clingy tops, tight pleather and plenty of guns, this vampire warrior defends her cadre of hemophiles against their sworn unkempt enemies: werewolves. Who are, let's be clear, not hot.

10. You Tell Us!

CBS President, Nina Tassler, talks about Alex O'Loughlin

E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos spoke to CBS President Nina Tassler regarding the network's future shows and stars. She asked Nina specifically about Alex O'Loughlin.

CBS Scoop
by Kristin Dos Santos

Last but not least, although Nina Tassler says how in love she is with Alex O'Loughlin—just like so many of you!—he has still not been cast on a new CBS series. Says Tassler, "Hopefully we will [place him on a show]. We do have an idea, so hopefully we will see that soon."

Kristin Dos Santos speaks to Nina Tassler

Kristin Dos Santos, from E!, spoke to Nina Tassler about canceling Moonlight. For someone who says, "I personally love the show. I love working with Alex O'Loughlin and Joel Silver" she sure has a funny way of showing it, doesn't she?

Lindsay in Atlanta :

I am a little miffed at you, Mrs. Dos Santos. When it comes to TV watching, you are my go-to girl. If you tell me to watch it, I do. So, I'm miffed that now that Moonlight is gone, and I'm hooked. You have given us nothing to sooth our broken hearts. Where is your gritty (but always polite) interview with those evil CBS bosses? Give us something please!

Kristin Dos Santos :

I did talk to CBS president Nina Tassler last week at the CBS upfront about the cancellation of Moonlight, a show so many fans loved passionately, and she defended the decision, saying, "Once we got back up on the air it was about the numbers and the ratings, and we were just struggling a little bit. I loved the show. I personally love the show. I love working with Alex O'Loughlin and Joel Silver, and I just think we had to make some very tough decisions. It was hard." Not half as hard as it is for the fans who went to great lengths to save this series, Nina! Just sayin'! I'm also working on getting an exit interview with one of the stars or producers for later this week, so stand by.

More speculation about Moonlight's future

E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos and TV Guide's Michael Ausiello are also speculating about Moonlight's chances for renewal. This always happens during the upfronts. Everyone tries to guess and scoop ahead of time. It's an emotional roller coaster ride! The networks enjoy the attention the "will they or won't they" speculation brings to their shows.

It is hard to deal with, but comes with the territory unfortunately. I just can not believe that CBS would be insane enough to let go of Moonlight, its loyal & amazing fans and Alex O'Loughlin!

Today, Watch With Kristin originally reported that "Moonlight is likely to receive a pickup."

http://tinyurl.com/3h6y2b

In her next report, she changed her stance.....

Moonlight: I'm Staying Firmly in Denial Until Wednesday, But...

Frik! Frak! And darn it all, too.

Don't freak out yet, but the word on Moonlight is suddenly trending negative.

My personal favorite Moonlight source just informed me of rumblings that the show was not looking good for a season-two pickup.

Sadly, Variety's Cynthia Littleton (who is a crackerjack reporter of the highest order) is saying the same thing. In particular, Cynthia reports, "CBS is high on a bunch of its drama pilots this year (no surprise there), and thus, there may not be room on the Eye's sked for more Moonlight next season."

Now, nothing is official until Wednesday, when CBS presents its 2008-09 slate to advertisers, so no need to panic yet, but I thought you guys would want to know the word on the street, for better or for worse.

http://tinyurl.com/4rthed

Michael Ausiello has heard rumors that CBS will renew The Unit and give it Moonlight's time slot. As we've been discussing, this is all just speculation. Plus, the network could simply move Moonlight to another night too... maybe a better night.

Eli Renewed! October Road Axed! Moonlight Dead?

CBS is expected to bring The Unit back, and may slot it on Fridays at 9 pm. What does that mean for Moonlight? Good question.

Watch With Kristin's spoilers about ADA Benjamin Talbot

E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos was the hostess for Moonlight's Paley Center panel. She passed on a bit of info she learned that night.

SPOILERS about new character, ADA Benjamin Talbot

Elie in Lincoln, Neb. :
You moderated the Paley panel on Moonlight, and I'm stuck in Nebraska, so I count on you to give me the dish! Spill.

I thought the most interesting info was the writers saying that by the middle of season two, CBS willing, we would love Eric Winter's character, even though he was introduced as a third party in the Mick-Beth relationship. And he's not what he seems to be at first, but he's also not a vampire. Hmmm...

Kristin Dos Santos announces host of Moonlight's Paley Center event & gives spoilers

E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos was asked a couple of Moonlight related questions today. Get your Moonlight questions ready! Kristin is going to be hosting our show's Paley Center panel. She wants us to send her anything we want to ask. The poor thing is gonna be flooded with emails from Moonlight fans. :)

Warning...... Her first answer has spoilers!

Ana in Lisbon, Portugal :
When Moonlight returns will we get some Mick and Beth love?

I can tell you that when Moonlight returns April 25, Beth finds out shocking news about Mick's life back before he was a vampire—and even before he was a soldier in World War II. Also, when we return, Mick is still "human," but the way he eventually returns to being a vampire is something that will have repercussions for seasons to come...

Izabela in Iguassu Falls City, Brazil :
Oi Kristin tudo bem? People in Brazil are loooving Moonlight. Do you know if it is coming back for season two?

Oi, amiga! No word yet from CBS, but I would be stunned if it didn't come back. In other news, I just found out I'll be moderating the Moonlight panel at the Paley Center for Media on Tuesday, April 22. If you have questions for the cast and producers, email me at tvdiva@eonline.com and I'll be sure to get you answers. Also, if you are coming to L.A. for the event, consider getting there early because there's going to be a Red Cross blood drive at the center before the event! Yay vampires...er, I mean, philanthropy!

Thank you to the lovely Kim for checking to be sure I had this info :)

Video ~ Watch with Kristin gives SPOILERS for Moonlight

E Online's, Watch with Kristin, has a new online SPOILER video about several returning shows..... Gossip Girl, The Riches, Bones.... Moonlight! She talks about the episode (#1x13 & #1x14) spoilers we have already discussed, but it is great to hear our show mentioned.

Even better, the video includes behind the scenes peeks of Sophia Myles and Alex O'Loughlin. It is great to see them! Moonlight appears around the 2:31 mark.

SPOILER ALERT!

In the Ask Kristin part of the video ~

Kristin, can you tell me what happened to Moonlight?

Kristin Dos Santos : It's coming back, and taking a turn toward tabloid dirt. A hard driving editor takes over Beth's Buzzwire and turns it into a scandal loving blog, of all things. Right around the time the paparazzi start digging into Mick's mysterious background, threatening of course to expose his bloody secret.

Update ~ The video is not available right now on the E! website. According to the tech dept, it will be fixed but they don't know how soon. Luckily, I had already typed out Kristin's answer for you here :)

Watch with Kristin discusses Moonlight being on the bubble

E! Online's Watch with Kristin has posted her opinion about Moonlight being on the bubble. She talks about other tv programs as well, but of course I concentrated on her Friday night info. Thank you to the sweet Kim for making sure I knew about this :)

Bubble Wrap: Faves That May Be in Danger

We hear you. And feel your pain.

Many of you have been writing in since the strike's end to ask about the fate of your favorite series this season—and beyond. And while the official word on most series won't be handed down until the new season is unveiled in New York City May 11-15 (mark your calendars!), we figure it's only fair to let you know what we're hearing about the current status of shows that are "on the bubble." So, click on to find out which shows are in trouble of cancellation...and how likely they are to be saved.

The crowd of angry villagers is gathering in Comments; the protest captains are handing out pitchforks and torches. And we storm the castle at midnight.

There's a Reason They Call It the Death Slot
• Friday Night Lights (NBC)
• Moonlight (CBS)
• Women's Murder Club (ABC)

If you weren't around for, say, The Tragedie of the Firefly Ship, by bard of the globe Joss Whedon, you might not have heard about this thing called the "death slot."

We fans use the term to refer to any and all shows that get scheduled on Friday nights, where they die a slow, sleepy death because everyone's out getting drunk or at least sleeping off the workweek and then receive a eulogy in the trades that sounds like, "Alas, poor show, we hardly knew ye..." It's a veritable tautology of television: If you get the death slot, you die.

As such, no one should be surprised that three Friday-at-9 p.m. shows are in trouble, namely America's best-ever reality show (Friday Night Lights; nothing else on television is more genuine); a cult-fave vampire detective show (Moonlight); and a smart, fast-talking girlie crime drama (Women's Murder Club). In the end, it's like Jessica Rabbit said, if she were a TV producer instead of a bombshell, "I'm not a flop, I'm just scheduled that way."

Watch with Kristin's open letter to CBS about Moonlight

Kristin Dos Santos, of E! Online's Watch with Kristin, has written an open letter to CBS about Moonlight.

Words of Advice to CBS: Don't Even Think About Canceling Moonlight

From: Kristin Dos Santos [tvdiva@eonline.com]
Date: Tue, 12 Feb 2008 10:37:30
To: CBS [powersthatbe@cbs.com]
Subject: Moonlight

Hey, CBS, what's up? Just wanted to send you a quick email and let you know that even though you haven't had any news for us lately about what's up with Moonlight, we're cool. Unless, of course, you do something stupid like cancel Moonlight, in which case we are both in a world of pain like you would not believe.

Not sure if you've been informed way up there where the powers that be live, but Moonlight fans are crazy. And I mean that in the best possible way, because (a) I am one of them, and (b) crazy fans are my bread and butter. In case no one has told you, we fan types are seriously, seriously obsessed with Mick and Beth, not to mention that beyotch Coraline, and, oh yeah, Josef, who is played by one Jason Dohring—and nobody's even over the cancellation of Veronica Mars yet—so, for the love of all things unholy, if you take him away from us again...Well, let's just say the Moonlight fans will make the Jericho fans look like uncaring dweebs.

Anyway, if you could maybe reassure us all sometime in the next week that we're getting more Moonlight, that would be super. Thanks so much.

Love,
KDS

P.S.: See all those fans who've commented below? That's what I'm talkin' 'bout.

E! Online's Watch with Kristin announces an upcoming Moonlight special event!

Big news from Kristin Dos Santos' E! Online column! She has heard that there is a special Moonlight event scheduled for April 22nd, 2008 at the Paley Center for Media. Ooooooo.... what could it be?!?!

Mary in Truro, Cornwall, United Kingdom :

Please help us support Moonlight. It's an amazing show! Do they have intention to give to us more episodes? Do you know if they already decided for the next year? Do you have any news? Thanks for being so kind to us.

Kristin :

Don't know to your first Q, don't know to your second Q and yes to your third Q. I just heard from inside sources at the Paley Center for Media that they have planned a special Moonlight event for Apr. 22. Whee! I promise I'll totally be there to bring you all the Alex O'Loughlin goodness you all long for!

E! Online's Watch with Kristin comments on the writer's strike

Writer's Strike Update ~ E! Online's Watch with Kristin column has published the following comments about the possibility of a resolution to the WGA's strike!

It seems this week's rumors that the writers' strike is coming to an end may indeed be true. We are hearing from several sources that the WGA and the AMPTP are "very close" to a deal, which could be announced as early as later today.

According to reliable insiders who asked not to be named, the writers and producers were in talks for nine hours yesterday and made a "staggering amount of progress," as all of the major sticking points have been settled.

"We are 99.9 percent of the way there," one source inside the negotiations said. "As of late yesterday, just a few small issues remained."

The stickiest issue of all, compensation for new-media projects, has been agreed upon by both sides, according to sources. Said one: "There is most certainly light at the end of the tunnel, and we are rapidly approaching it."

Stay tuned, and keep those fingers crossed. An announcement could come any minute.

E! Online's Watch with Kristin talks about Moonlight

You are wonderful Moonlight fans! All the voting and comments you have left for the Watch with Kristin polls I told you about are really paying off :) Kristin Dos Santos has written an article regarding Moonlight's upcoming episode ~ The Mortal Cure #1x12 ~ AND giving her thoughts about the possibility of Moonlight being renewed. I like what she has to say, so you know it is positive. *wink* Kristin has nice things to say about Alex O'Loughlin.... who doesn't?! She also gives a shout out to Moonlight's "incredibly devoted and vocal fan base!" That is you, my friends!!!

She includes a video of a red carpet interview with Alex from before Moonlight premiered. I remember watching it and thinking how adorable & down to earth he is. Since I had the pleasure of seeing Alex on The Shield, I was already a fan. However, if I hadn't been, this funny interview would have turned me into one. I'm glad she found the clip for us to enjoy again.

Read what the lovely Kristin has to say about our show. Oooooo.... and there is a tiny spoiler about The Mortal Cure (episode #1x12). The yellow highlights are my emphasis.

Moonlight Sets...but Just for Now!

Time flies! It seems like just yesterday I was talking to the adorable Alex O'Loughlin about CBS picking up Moonlight—a moment you can see above—and now we've reached the end of the first season, assuming the strike doesn't break, like, tomorrow.

The last ep completed, "The Mortal Cure," airs this Friday on CBS at 9 p.m., and it's the last chance for you would-be fans to get in on the action and (please, oh please) help to send off the series with a nice uptick in the ratings.

So, why should you watch? Well, I have three good reasons...

1. The fans are bat-poop crazy over this show, as evidenced by Moonlight's number two ranking in our TV Throwdown poll, which asked fans to vote for the best series of 2007.

2. Star Alex O'Loughlin is charming and likable and an all-around nice guy. See for yourself in the clip above!

3. This show is strangely addictive—just the sort of series you'll want to catch up on during these here strike-riddled times. You can do so by visiting iTunes or the show's official site at CBS.com to watch full-length episodes of the series.

Spoiler!

As for you existing fans, you'll be happy to hear that this Friday's season finale episode will not disappoint. It features Mick and Coraline vamped out and vicious and more tears for poor brokenhearted Beth as she deals with a new crisis, even though she has yet to get over you-know-who's death last week.

Now, if this is the end of the first season, could there be a second season? Many of you have written me at
tvdiva@eonline.com about this, concerned that CBS has yet to give the series a commitment. Now, that's true—I checked on this for you, and the official word is still that there's no word.

However, I can tell you I would be astonished if Moonlight didn't get a pickup. It's a relatively inexpensive show, and the ratings are respectable, but more important, it has you guys. Yes, you. Moonlight found an incredibly devoted and vocal fan base right out of the gate, and you can't buy that kind of passion with any amount of treasure.

http://tinyurl.com/3cpa8p

Please, write to Kristin to thank her! tvdiva@eonline.com Of course.... keep leaving your awesome comments and voting. *cheer*

Watch with Kristin sets up new round of TV Throwdown

As you know, Kristin Dos Santos (from the E! channel's Watch with Kristin) has asked the fans to vote for the best tv show of 2007. She has set up a new round of the TV Throwdown. Time to vote for Moonlight again! Remember, the results of the poll will help decide which television programs E! and Kristin cover the most in 2008.

Moonlight mentioned in E! Online's Watch with Kristin article

Moonlight got a mention in Kristin Dos Santos' column, Watch with Kristin, on the E! Online website. In her opinion, Love Lasts Forever (#1x11) is the best episode since Fever (#1x04)!

Angi in Chowchilla, California :
Moonlight got some love on your TV Throwdown. So, how about showing the Moonlight fans some love by some ever-needed scoop?

Kristin :
I'm all caught up now, and I can tell you the ep airing Friday, Jan. 11, is the best since the one in the desert. It's an adrenaline roller coaster. No Josef or Coraline, sadly, but lots of heavy stuff between Mick and Beth—including Mick contemplating his "mortal feelings" for her. Also, shirtless Mick. For that reason and several others, it's worth tuning in.

Vote for Moonlight on the E! Online's Site

The lovely Kristin Dos Santos, of Watch with Kristin fame, has listed her Top 10 tv shows for 2007. Unfortunately, our show was not one of her faves (yet!). However, she has asked for viewers to vote at her E! Online blog to tell her what television programs we love. This is very important because Kristin says the voting will "largely determine what we cover in this show & in my column in the coming year." Go vote for Moonlight!

Thank you to Susan for writing to make sure I had this information!
