Did CBS miss the Vampire bandwagon?

Our friends at the TV Addict have picked up on Perez Hilton's blog post..... and they agree with us! :)

I also LOVE the banner/header they are using on their website (see above). It was created by a wonderful, anonymous Moonlight fan for the TV Addict's second annual "Pimp Your Favorite Show Contest."

Did CBS Miss The Vampire Bandwagon?

Here are five words this TV Addict never expected to write: Perez Hilton has a point.

In his recent post titled, ‘Vampires Are In’ the reigning queen of celebrity gossip sights the 3.5 million copies being printed for Stephanie Meyers fourth and final installment of the TWILIGHT series BREAKING DAWN, the upcoming September premiere of Alan Ball’s [SIX FEET UNDER] highly anticipated new HBO series TRUE BLOOD and the TWILIGHT movie set to hit the big screens in December as proof positive that vampires are the new boy wizards.

Leading us to wonder aloud — with interest in Vampires seemingly at an all-time high — could CBS have cancelled MOONLIGHT at a worse time?

Perez Hilton ~ Vampires Are In

Blogger Perez Hilton has written a post saying what we have all been discussing for months! Vampire stories are more popular than ever right now. Books.... Southern Vampire series of Charlaine Harris and Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer, Movies... such as (of course) Twilight, Lost Boys 2 : The Tribe, Rise with Lucy Liu & Michael Chiklis. TV... True Blood on HBO. CBS could have been a leader with an already established television show in Moonlight. :(

The Vampyre girl in me is excited by all the projects coming out, and can not believe how short sighted the executives at CBS were with our show! *sigh*

Vampires Are In
by Perez Hilton

Vampires will be showing their teeth the next few months!

On the first Saturday in August, teens are expected to attend midnight parties at bookstores across the land in droves to celebrate the release of author Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final book of her Twilight series.

Breaking Dawn has a first run printing of 3.5 million copies.

Talk about popular!

And then, not too long after that, the first Twilight movie should be hitting movie screens worldwide.

Also, in September, HBO's premiering the vampire show True Blood on September 7th.

True Blood is based on a series of novels by Charlaine Harris. It's set in a world where vampires have come out into the open, thanks to the development of synthetic blood that allows them to survive without feeding on humans.

Anna Paquin will star as a mind-reading waitress who's drawn to a vampire who arrives in her small Louisiana town.

The undead live on!

Perez Hilton posts about the CW's ratings issues too

Hollywood blogger, Perez Hilton, has a post on his site about the CW Network's ratings issues... also quoting The Wall Street Journal. We have been trying to get media outlets (magazines, web pages, tv shows) to cover the ridiculous canceling of Moonlight, and also to write about Moonlight fans fighting to save our show. So, we have been contacting People Magazine, TV Guide, Ellen Degeneres, Entertainment Weekly, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter ~ you get the idea :) All of this is important because we need to reach viewers who are not part of Moonlight's devoted online fandom.

Perez has a huge audience! Let's leave comments on his blog about how lucky the CW or any network would be to have Moonlight & its ratings. That could inform a whole new group of people about our show..... and perhaps Perez will actually do a post about saving Moonlight!

Failing!
by Perez Hilton

They're gonna have to work harder next season!

According to the Wall Street Journal, the home of Gossip Girl, the CW network is tanking.

The CBS/Time Warner co-venture lost 28% of its target audience of 18 to 34 year olds so far this season.

And, its ratings during this month's "sweeps" period — the all-important measure upon which future advertising rates are set — are down about 22%.

According to an insider, if things don't turn around dramatically one of the big partners is going to walk away.

The WSJ also points out that part of CW's problem is that the demo its targeting spends a lot of its leisure time on the internet. Good for us!

And, the Writer's Strike probably hastened the departure of the demo from traditional TV to the net.

Any of you youngins have advice for the suits?
