The Hollywood Reporter thinks networks will be generous with renewals

James Hibberd has written an article, for The Hollywood Reporter, about the chances of bubble shows being picked up for a second season.

Networks generous with renewals
Some shows will get second chances despite ratings

For broadcast series still hoping for a renewal, last week was rough sledding.

CBS' "Shark" and ABC's "Women's Murder Club" returned to post about a 2.0 rating among adults 18 to 49, joining low-rated outings by fellow bubble shows "Moonlight" (CBS), "Boston Legal" (ABC) and "Reaper" (The CW).

But with most scripted series struggling from a writers strike ratings hangover, the networks seem inclined to give some of the lagging shows a second chance this fall.

Here's how things stand:

-- "Moonlight": Since returning post-strike, "Moonlight" remains the weakest link in CBS' Friday night lineup. Yet the vampire drama continues to win its time period. A pickup is all but certain.

Video ~ E! News includes Moonlight in their bubble tv show segment

E! News has included Moonlight in a segment they did about tv shows on the bubble ~ "Which TV Shows Will Survive?" Kristin mentions the Moonlight Blood Drive! She also explains why the Writer's Strike may have been good for our show. For the video, they used behind the scenes footage showing Alex O'Loughlin & Sophia Myles filming the Arrested Development episode (#1x05). Sophia waves & Alex chats with some kiddos.

How I Met Your Mother, Scrubs and Men In Trees are also in the spot. Moonlight begins around the 00:50 mark.

Update........ E! still lists this Moonlight video on their site, but it is not playable. They hope to have it back online soon.

Ausiello gives his opinion on Moonlight's chances of returning for another season

TV Guide's Michael Ausiello has created a list of bubble shows, along with their odds of being renewed for another season. He gives Moonlight a high rating on his survival scale. YEA! Of course, I wish it had been a 10... but an 8 is pretty good.

What does he consider the good news for our show? The FANS! Michael also mentions the fantastic Moonlight Blood Drive :) Have you made your appointment yet?

Bubble Show Update: Will Your Faves Be Back?

It's pins-and-needles time in the TV biz. Over the next couple of weeks, the suits at the Big 5 will be deciding which bubble shows will be back next season and which ones will be fast-tracked to the MIA network. To help ease your anxiety — well, except in the cases where the bubble's about to burst — I've compiled a list of those shows currently hanging in the balance followed by my own assessment of their chances and, mixing buzz and intel, an Odds of Survival rating of 0-10 (0 being dead and 10 being a shoo-in for resurrection).

Moonlight

The bad news: Another backstage shake-up has left the series without a show-runner.

The good news: Fans are batty over this vampire drama and have even gone so far as to organize a blood drive with the Red Cross to draw attention to it.

Odds of Survival: 8

TV Squad states Moonlight is likely to get a second season pickup

AOL Television's TV Squad website lists Moonlight as a bubble show that is "likely to be renewed." :)

What shows are on the bubble for next season?

The Hollywood Reporter has an article today that both breaks my heart and makes me ecstatic for the next television season. The article, citing lots of anonymous sources, lists shows that are "on the bubble" for next season -- meaning renewal is not certain--and predicts their likelihood of renewal.

Interestingly (and tragically), The CW's Reaper appears to be on the chopping block. Tonight's ratings for Reaper could tip the balance, as a new episode goes up against a new episode of Lost. While many critics think Reaper has lost its way since the pilot, I think it's been pretty much on track. We even got a new story line during the last episode where Sam meets a new love interest, aka the devil's daughter. The dialogue is clever, the lead actor is lovable, and his sidekicks are, well, a kick. Although, if I didn't have a way to record both shows, I would probably choose Lost over Reaper tonight.

Likely to be canceled: Reaper, Jericho [ Sadly, already true :( ], Cashmere Mafia

Likely to be renewed: How I Met Your Mother, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Scrubs (probably on ABC), Knight Rider (a series spawned from that crap movie), Friday Night Lights, Moonlight, Law & Order, Prison Break, According to Jim, 'Til Death, Back to You.
