A new guest has been announced for the upcoming Moonlight Gala. Jordan Belfi will be making a public appearance at the event. He joins previously revealed special guests Jason Dohring and Brian J White.

Moonlight Gala on Halloween Weekend

What are you doing for Halloween? How about celebrating Moonlight and having fun with fellow fans :) The Moonlight Gala is scheduled for Halloween weekend in Schaumburg, IL. When I was writing the novel that Moonlight was based on, I hoped to connect with those who read it one day in the way one does when creating a work of fiction. I hoped it would entertain and perhaps even inspire people in positive ways in their own lives. Eventually that novel evolved into a television show, and it was wonderful to see that eight million people a week tuned in because they liked the premise, enjoyed the stories, and cared about the characters. But nothing could have prepared me for the way that Moonlight fans took their love for the show and carried it out into the world in real and meaningful ways. Because of them, people across America and the globe, have linked themselves to blood centers and orchestrated blood donation efforts on behalf of the show they came to love.

What better than a show about vampires to raise awareness about the need for blood and get people to give?

I am told that a single pint of blood saves three lives. The most recent blood drive held in the name of the show resulted in the collection of 3,165 pints, potentially saving the lives of 10,495 people. It is a precious gift we can so easily give. As someone with a mother who is in the process of going through a bone marrow transplant, I have seen first hand just how much blood and bone marrow donation can help a family who might otherwise have lost a loved one.

Even more amazing, despite the recent cancellation of the show, rather than give up and go away as they might have done, the fans have continued their efforts to raise blood and awareness. More blood drives are being planned even as I write this. It is humbling and wonderful to have been a part of creating something that has served as a catalyst for so much good. I thank you all, and would like to take this opportunity to invite others (fans of the show or not) to come and join us in the spirit of the goodwill and giving at these events.

Speaking of blood drives....... I know a lot of you are riled up about going to the annual San Diego Comic Con 2008 (July 24th to 27th). Moonlight was introduced at last year's convention so it will always be special to Moonlight fans! I remember seeing videos & photos of our cast and falling even more for the show.

This year, an Alex O'Loughlin/Moonlight blood drive is planned to coincide with the convention. It will be held at the W Hotel because the con has a long standing, wonderful drive of its own. Can you imagine how many lives are going to be saved by the combined efforts of these events?!? Too exciting!

If this news hasn't already gotten you charged up.... The event is going to be hosted by our own Trevor Munson! YEA! Check out the adorable photo of him in the banner. For new international Moonlight fans who may not know that name, he is the co-creator & co-executive producer of our show. Without him, we would not have Mick St John. Trevor is such a gifted writer, as well as an unpretentious & funny man. I have no doubts that you will make him... and all of us... proud :)

Finally, some Moonlight fun outside of California :) The lovely Gretchen is planning a convention and blood drive to be held on the East coast this time... in beautiful North Carolina to be exact. It is scheduled for September so you have plenty of time to make your plans to be there. Live entertainment, fanfic & video contests are just a few of the activities.

This will kick off the September blood drive event.

Spoilers ~ Alex & Jason answer important fan questions during Moonlight Panel

Eric Goldman has written a good report of what happened at today's Moonlight Panel at the NY Comic Con. Of course, the wonderful fans in attendance asked the question we all have.... Will our show be picked up for a second season? Alex answers that we don't have a renewal order yet, but he sounds positive.

NYCC 08: Moonlight - Vampires in New York
The stars talk about the possible future of the CBS series.

April 20, 2008 - The Moonlight panel at New York Comic Con today certainly proved the enthusiasm the show's fans have for the vampire series, as there were frequent cheers and shrieks from those in attendance, who were clearly very excited to see stars Alex O'Loughlin ("Mick St. Jones") and Jason Dohring ("Josef") in person. "That was so awesome! I can't breathe!", one girl breathlessly exclaimed after the panel.

Moonlight returns with new episodes on April 25th, though not many details were given by the cast about the four episodes that will close out Season 1. However, O'Loughlin promised, "We've got some great shows coming up." Asked if Josef's relationship with Sarah will be brought back into the story, Dohring said he wasn't sure if Sarah herself would be seen again, but, "There is a future storyline where it comes up and I build her a memorial."

However, there were some notable new sequences included in a long clip reel that opened the panel (Spoilers follow). Not only was some big action shown, but also an important scene in which a newly human Mick tells Josef he wants to be made a vampire again. Josef says he's sorry, as he bites into Mick's neck, beginning his transformation back into a vampire.

Dohring of course starred on Veronica Mars and said that going from that show to Moonlight was interesting, noting Moonlight had, "A much broader audience, but still has an intense fandom." For his part, O'Loughlin said, "To have no fans and then Moonlight fans is quite a transition."

Moonlight has yet to be renewed for Season 2, though clearly the fans are hopeful it will be. O'Loughlin was asked by a fan what he thought the chances were, and he replied, "I really want to tell you that we've got the pickup, but we don't. What I think is that we have a really good show with a really dedicated cast and crew and the numbers are evident." Addressing how the writers' strike has affected the next TV season, he added, "It's not like we had a pilot season and the networks have a lot of choices this fall. I don't see why the network would pull the show. It wouldn't make logistic sense to me. Then again I don't run a network."

Another fan ended up asking if Mick and Beth (Sophia Myles) would finally, as she put it, "Seal the deal." To a great many joyous female cheers, he answered, "I think that they are going to do that."
