Blood Ties Season One DVD available now

Blood Ties tv show season one has been released on DVD. Another canceled Vampire show :( Who can forget..... Last May, CBS decided not to pick up Moonlight. At around the same time, Lifetime made the decision not to renew Blood Ties. Fans from both programs joined forces to protest the shortsided choices made by the television network executives. The current Vampyre frenzy ~ True Blood, the Twilight series (books and movies), The Vampire Diaries, etc ~ just illustrates the huge mistake they made.

You can get your Blood Ties DVD through this link ~

Blood Ties stars Kyle Schmid as Vampire Henry Fitzroy and Christina Cox as PI Victoria "Vicki" Nelson. The DVD set includes all 13 episodes from season one, along with bonus material (trailer and behind the scenes documentary).

Ooooooo yea.... You can also preorder the upcoming Blood Ties Season Two DVD set by clicking here --------> Blood Ties-Season 2 It is scheduled to be released on October 6th, 2009.

iF Magazine reviews Moonlight's newly released DVD

iF Magazine has published their review of the new Moonlight DVD. They have the same chief complaint that we do... no extras :(

DVD Review: 'MOONLIGHT: THE COMPLETE SERIES'

Fans get their beloved show in one set, but why no extras at all?

Grade: B
Stars: Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring, Shannyn Sossamon, Tami Roman
Writer(s): Ron Koslow, Trevor Munson
Release Date: Jan. 20, 2009
SRP: $39.98
Rating: NR
Distributor: Warner Home Video

By EMERSON PARKER, Contributing Writer

I guess the one good thing about MOONLIGHT: THE COMPLETE SERIES is that they actually gave fans the series in its entirety relatively quickly. Unlike fans of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and other genre shows that have come and gone and been fan favorites, they didn’t have to wait years.

Of course, this is just a bit of solace to fans of the show that believe the show should never have been cancelled in the first place and that CBS gave the series an unfair opportunity especially given the shortened season due to the four-month long writer’s strike from the 2007-2008 season. That also took away other shows that fans were getting attached to too soon as well, such as JOURNEYMAN.

But probably the biggest slap in the face of the fans in terms of the DVD is the fact that MOONLIGHT: THE COMPLETE SERIES lacks any special features at all. Really? You couldn’t get Alex O’Loughlin or Shannyn Sossamon or Sophia Myles at all for one interview? You couldn’t put together a few clips from behind-the-scenes and include them? There were no deleted scenes at all? Really? That’s just a big slap in the face and something that Warner Home Video – usually really good about adding extras – should have done, because this would be a DVD where fans would eat it up and actually watch the special features with a lot of interest.

That’s just not right. And I don’t know how any fan can be happy about it.

But again, those same fans are just probably happy to have the episodes in their collection and the ability to watch them whenever they want and in digital in a nice digital transfer from the already impressive widescreen broadcast presentation.

The story is an interesting one centering on L.A. private eye Mick St. John (O’Loughlin) who makes a living by learning about other people’s secrets and revealing them to those who pay him for such information. But the biggest secret of all is from St. John because he’s a vampire, yes a creature of the night with a past as complex as, well, all vampire series. He’s been good. He’s been bad. He’s loved. He’s lost.

Now he is drawn to a new love with a human woman (Sophia Myles) but his memories of his wife that turned him originally into a vampire (Shannyn Sossamon) and his lingering relationships with other vampires and the underworld leaves him troubled with his past, his present and maintaining a cover as a PI.

DIGITAL TRANSFER
Looks great. The widescreen it was originally shot on looks even better in this digital transfer of the series.

SPECIAL FEATURES
As stated above, there are none.

THE LAST WORD
Obviously, fans of the series will be buying this set. No if, ands or buts about it. But I gotta imagine they aren’t too happy about not having anything other than just the 16 episodes. A for the series, but because the DVD lacks extras it gets a B.

Sophia Myles film, Mister Foe, has been released on DVD! It is the role for which she won the BAFTA as Best Actress (the movie is known as Hallam Foe in Europe). The film had a limited theatrical release in the US, so most of us did not get to see it on the big screen. *pout* Reviews have been glowing! Here's a link in case you wanna order your own copy of the DVD......

More Moonlight DVD release news from TV Guide..........

DVD News and Reviews

For Moonlight Fans, a "Bite" of Good News
by Matt Mitovich & David Lambert

People want their Mick at night... and in the daytime... and, heck, whenever else they please. And yet thus far, the avid fans of CBS' short-lived Moonlight have been frustrated by the lack of a release date for a DVD set. Further exacerbating the sorry sitch is the fact that a November Region 2 (aka European) release was announced while Statesiders were left in limbo.

But the long wait may be about to end for us Yanks. Earlier this week in an online chat with DVD enthusiasts, reps for Warner Home Video advised Moonlight fans to "stay tuned for good news you can really sink your teeth into in the next month."

The good news: It sounds like a firm U.S. DVD release soon will be announced. The bad news: Dollars to donuts, the discs you are so blood-thirsty for won't be on shelves in time for the holidays, but rather just before or after New Year's.

TV Guide ~ No release date for Moonlight DVD in USA

I've been receiving tons of emails asking when the Moonlight DVD is scheduled to be released. While the European market (region 2) has been given a date ~ November 17th ~ we still have not heard anything official for the US (region 1). *sigh* According to several people who attended the Moonlight convention in May, one of Moonlight's producers said the disc might be out in September. That didn't happen. After contacting the WB many times about this, I received a single reply stating it would not be released in 2008. It went on to say the tentative plan is for Moonlight's DVD to come out in early 2009.... no exact date.

TV Guide's Matt Webb Mitovich responds to a Moonlight fan's inquiry about the DVD release.

Question :

I've begun to hear rumblings that the Moonlight DVD for the U.S. has been put permanently on hold, even though the European edition is set to release in November. Any truth to the rumor? – Robyn

Matt :

What did you draw me into?! I checked into this topic and was made met with quite a scary Silver Wall of Silence. At the end of the day, all I have is this from David at TVShowsonDVD.com: "Warner has not announced any plans for a U.S. release of Moonlight."

Please, keep contacting Warner Bros Home Video! Ask them to release Moonlight on DVD in the US.

Moonlight Season One DVD alert for USA & release date for Europe

Moonlight fans are anxiously awaiting the great day when our show is released on DVD. So far, sources have said they expect it to come out in September for region 1 (USA). Can't wait! Amazon has a cool service that will notify you as soon as the Moonlight Season One DVD is available. I already signed up for my alert :) Here's a link, in case you wanna do the same........

Moonlight DVD Alert

As I have discussed with you previously, it is very important for the DVD sales to be huge! Not only to show, yet again, how much Moonlight means to its fans. This is also a way of letting the studio, producers, etc know that there is money to be made with it. They kinda like that. *grin* Big DVD sales & a continuing active fan base have helped lots of canceled tv programs to gain a movie or a return to television.... for example ~ Star Trek, Firefly, Family Guy, X-Files, Sex and the City. You get the idea :)

For our international friends ~ We have an actual release date for the European market (region 2)! Moonlight's DVD is set to be out on November 17th, 2008 according to Play.com UK.

http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/6033706/-/Product.html?source=9316

Usually, the sets are released in the US before coming out for the overseas' market. The November release date for Europe gives credence to the possibility of the Moonlight Season 1 DVD going on sale here in the next couple of months. YEA!

Alex O'Loughlin's work on The Shield Season 6 to be released on DVD!

My good friend, Cinnamon, gave me some great news to share with you... Alex O'Loughlin appeared as Detective Kevin Hiatt on season 6 of The Shield (tv show). He was a wonderful addition to the cast. Alex made the character compelling and won over the fans, even tho Hiatt seems to be brought in to take over the job of beloved lead character Vic Mackey. The episode that introduces him is appropriately called "The New Guy."

We have been waiting ~ not very patiently ~ for the DVD to become available. A date has finally been announced for it to come out. The Shield season six will be released on August 26th, 2008! Mark your calendars :)

If you are like me and can hardly wait, you can pre-order your copy of the DVD now using this Amazon link.....
