Holly Valance to guest star on new tv show, Valentine

Holly Valance played the delectably dangerous Vampiress Lola on Moonlight. As you know, she is also the real life girlfriend of series star Alex O'Loughlin. Holly is guest starring in a new tv show called Valentine. It airs on the CW Network. Her episode, Act Naturally (#1x03), will be shown on Sunday, October 19th @ 7:00 pm Central/8:00 pm Eastern.

The brief, official synopsis for Valentine ~ A family of Greek gods brings soulmates together, while keeping their true identities as deities a secret.

Info about Holly's episode & character.........

Posing as lawyers, the Valentines save a movie starlet (Holly Valance) from jail time and get her a community-service assignment at a struggling theater. The actress' soul mate is the theater's owner (Ryan Devlin), who has doubts about her work ethic. Meanwhile, Phoebe breaks into Kate's apartment to find proof that she can't be trusted.

Public Appearances ~ Sophia Myles at Locarno Film Festival

I'm hearing that Sophia Myles will be making a public appearance at the 61st Annual Locarno Film Festival on August 15th. The fest is being held in the lovely Swiss city. Her sci-fi/fantasy/action/Viking/alien/period film, Outlander, is one of the most anticipated of the event. Everyone calls the enormous movie screen in the Piazza Grande the "heart of the festival." That is where Sophia's film will be showing :)

Check out this wonderful production photograph of our girl in her role as Freya. Kissing her co-star, Jim Caviezel. She looks beautiful, as usual. A red head this time! Seeing that she has hair extensions again made me think of Sophia's funny quotes about being glamorized for Moonlight & Hollywood.

Holly Valance champions the mission of MDRI

Mental Disability Rights International is an organization which helps people who are challenged. Sadly, they are often being abused and/or neglected. According to their mission statement ~ "Mental Disability Rights International (MDRI) is dedicated to promoting the human rights and full participation in society of people with mental disabilities worldwide."

http://www.mdri.org/

Alex O'Loughlin's girlfriend, actress/singer Holly Valance, has taken up this cause. This video shows the PSA she did in support of MDRI. Below is a message from Holly explaining why she became involved with this worthy cause.

A letter from Holly Valance, international model, singer and actress:

Dear Friends,

I first learned of MDRI after its Serbia story shown on NBC News. To say I was affected by the images would be an understatement. I guess you don't know what you don't know, but now that I do, I can never be the same.

Huddled over my laptop sobbing, I wrote to the organization offering to be of any service I could. As I learned through further educating myself with MDRI's reports and discussions with staff, I realized this is not only a mental disability rights issue – but a human rights issue.

The work MDRI does is so important - any kind of support is crucial and pivotal to changing the conditions, laws and mindsets of the countries affected. I lie awake at night sick to my stomach about what goes on in these institutions and MDRI is the one on the frontline making these changes possible. They are truly angels – and they need our help. If there was ever a worthy cause that can make the world a better, safer, more compassionate place, this is it. I've always been very drawn to helping those without voices, the ones who don't get a say; the ones who are not seen or heard but kept away in poverty and shame; treated worse than animals.

They are God’s children too and they need to be protected. They deserve every right and opportunity you or I have and it's simply not good enough to sit back and hope someone else will fix it, or it will go away. It won't. It takes hard work, perseverance and funding to change an enormous issue like those tackled by MDRI daily.

If you know now, please help.

Make a truly meaningful decision to be part of something life changing for millions of people. While you curl up in your warm and safe bed tonight, imagine the torture being inflicted daily on these unfortunate souls because not enough of us know.

It's disgusting – and you are somewhat responsible if you learn about it and do nothing.

This has got to stop. It can not go on.

I am so truly honored, humbled and proud to be associated with Mental Disability Rights International.

Yours faithfully,
Holly Valance

Sophia Myles talks about her film, Outlander

FEARnet spoke to Sophia Myles about her role in the film Outlander during their visit to Moonlight's set. No release date yet. The movie sites just say it's expected to premiere sometime in 2008. Thanks to Jenn from FEARnet for passing on the interview :)

Sophia Myles on Life After 'Moonlight'!

British uber-hottie Sophia Myles' cult favorite vampire show Moonlight may have been axed by CBS, but the fetching blonde's not hurting for work. In fact, she's already awaiting the release of her next genre project--Outlander. A viking/alien-invasion thriller (yes, you read that correctly).

Here's how she decribed the film when we spoke with her on the set of Moonlight last month: "It’s set in 709 A.D., and I play a Viking warrior princess in a small Viking village. Right at the beginning of the story an alien ship crash-lands onto planet Earth, and on board is Jim Caviezel from Passion of the Christ and this terrifying Moorwen--it looks like a dragon/bull. And he’s brought that with him from a galaxy far, far away to planet Earth. It’s kind of an epic-adventure, where we try and slay the beast. I haven’t seen that mixture of period and science fiction before, so it was interesting to me."

Myles of course is no stranger to screen fantasy, having starred in not only Moonlight, but the Underworld films and the BBC's Dracula mini-series (she also played the title role in the Hugo Award-winning 'Girl in the Fireplace' episode of the BBC's new Doctor Who). Since she's worked in both horror and science fiction, we asked Myles what she prefers.

"I would say I’d pick sci-fi over vamps," she laughed. "There’s got to be other forms of life out here. I think it’d be incredibly self-centered to think that us on planet Earth are the most powerful, the only thing out there. So yeah, that fascinates me."
