US Weekly Magazine talks about Moonlight

US Weekly Magazine (February 9th, 2009 issue) has a small blurb about Moonlight due to the season one reruns currently airing on the Sci-Fi Channel. Alex O'Loughlin is singled out for special mention. They gave Moonlight a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. YEA! It is great to see our show receiving press coverage :)

Before True Blood and Twilight, there was the CBS vampire drama ~ which died in 2008 after just one season ( despite a rabid following ). Sexy Alex O'Loughlin charms as Mick St. John, a melancholy private detective, who moonlights as a bloodsucker. The case and mythology mildly intrigue, while the cast has, yes, serious bite.

Ewww! This poster is so creepy, it makes me want to hurl! And watch this show! Of course, the fact that Alan Ball is behind it -- the man who helmed one of my favorite shows ever, Six Feet Under -- has nothing to do with it. Nope, it doesn't. Okay, I'm lying. It has everything to do with it.

HBO's True Blood, starring Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, is set to premiere on Sept. 7 at 9 p.m. Here's the newly released poster for it. Makes you want to dig into a jar of strawberry jam, doesn't it?

Based on Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire novel series, the show follows the world of vampires set in small-town Louisiana. They're able to co-exist with humans by drinking a Japanese-manufactured synthetic blood. (Well, what fun is that?!)

We'll learn more about the show later this week at Comic-Con 2008, where a panel is scheduled. Also, check out the official web site.

And what is up with all the vampires lately? We've still got loyal fans mourning the loss of Moonlight, and on the big screen, vampire devotees everywhere await the release of Twilight, based on the books by Stephenie Meyer, on Dec. 12, 2008.

Are vampires the new wizards? Or are we just a blood-crazed society at the moment?

Detroit Moonlight rally in the news

The Detroit area Moonlight fans rally is getting some media attention! YEA! Mekeisha Madden Toby has written the following blurb about the gathering for The Detriot News. Remember, the picnic & rally takes place tomorrow :)

Metro Detroiters obviously feel an affinity for Alex O'Loughlin and "Moonlight," too. Local fans of the show will be holding a petitioners' picnic and rally to urge CBS to rethink its decision to kill the series. The local effort is one of several happening all over the country this weekend. The "Moonlight" picnic and rally will take place 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday at the Southfield Civic Center Park, 26533 Evergreen Road, Southfield. Moonlight blood drive in the media

The Moonlight blood drive is being mentioned by lots of media outlets today! WOO WOO :) I have seen it on TV Guide, Buddy TV, Reuters and Entertainment Weekly websites to name a few. This is really spreading the word about the blood drive, as well as promoting the show to new fans.

Update ~ While flipping thru TV channels tonight, I saw Moonlight fans and the blood drive mentioned on the E! Channel's Daily 10 entertainment show! They also said that our show "is not in imminent danger of cancelation."

I have chosen the article written by James Hibberd, of the Hollywood Reporter, to reprint here. The reason I selected it is because I like what he says about our show getting a second season ~ "Moonlight isn't in any imminent danger of cancellation. Although modestly rated (7.5 million viewers to date), the show is considered very likely to receive a pickup for the fall." AND.... James also brings up the rumor of Alex O'Loughlin becoming a American Red Cross spokesperson, which I mentioned previously. :)

"Moonlight" fans give blood to save vampire show

Fans of CBS' "Moonlight" are so passionate about the vampire drama that they're willing to sacrifice their own blood to keep the rookie series on the air.

Teaming with the Red Cross and online protest rally point YouChoose.net (http://www.youchoose.net), "Moonlight" viewers are organizing a nationwide blood drive to garner network support for a second season. They claim that more than 3,000 fans have pledged to donate a pint each.

"Moonlight" star Alex O'Loughlin has been so moved by fans' efforts that sources close to the series said he is becoming a spokesman for the Red Cross. The spokesmanship position will be announced this week.

For all the dramatic effort fans are expending to rescue the show, here's the kicker: "Moonlight" isn't in any imminent danger of cancellation. Although modestly rated (7.5 million viewers to date), the show is considered very likely to receive a pickup for the fall. Additionally, "Moonlight" still has four original episodes set to air when it returns April 25, so there's plenty of time for CBS to mull its fate.

Still, "Moonlight" fans aren't taking any chances.

"We wanted to celebrate the return of episodes and really focus attention on the show," said Barbara Arnold, who helped promote the blood drive. "They say one pint of blood saves three lives. So if we can collect 3,000, wouldn't that be nice?"

The fan intensity could be wearying for CBS.

The network just finished extinguishing a yearlong fan uprising about its other ratings-challenged cult drama, "Jericho" (which the network canceled last month). At least executives can take heart that, unlike in the infamous "Jericho" peanut-mailing campaign, "Moonlight" fans are using their blood to help a good cause rather than sending it to the network.

Video ~ Moonlight's cast in The Insider's photobooth for Crest Whitestrips ad

The entertainment tv show, The Insider, has a spot they do every episode called the Photobooth. Moonlight's gorgeous cast was recently featured! It is basically a commercial for Crest Whitestrips. More publicity for Moonlight is a good thing :) Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring and Shannyn Sossamon all take turns making goofy faces in photos.

Here is a video for those that missed the ad when it aired on the television program, or who just wanna rewatch the clip. The quality is not perfect, but it is still fun viewing. You will notice that Pat O'Brien mispronounces Sophia's name. Speaking of her..... Sophia, once again, has something sweet to say about Alex ~ "I can't believe I get paid money to spend my days with this man." Awww...

In the "Watch with Kristin" section on E! Online's website, you will find a poll for our show. Save it or Sink it : Moonlight! Another place for us to show the CBS Network and entertainment media outlets what a large, loyal fan base Moonlight has already developed in such a short amount of time. Vote!
