Thanking Nina Tassler, Les Moonves and CBS for promoting Moonlight

We have been waiting for and dying to see promotion of Moonlight. Our show needs and deserves it. The time has come! Public appearances by our lovely cast, great Eyelab videos and now this incredible CBS tv commercial. *cheer* We need to be sure to thank them for this. I have already called & sent emails to Nina, Les and Audience Services, as well as leaving happy feedback on the CBS website. Also, I'm sending snail mail because they often consider that to be more sincere. You are such thoughtful folks, I'm sure that many of you have done the same. Just mentioning it because we definitely want to encourage the network to continue promoting Moonlight :)

CBS boss Les Moonves may begin talks with WGA again

Mike Farrell has written an article for Multichannel News that gives us Moonlight fans a glimmer of hope. CBS President & CEO, Les Moonves, is making noises about beginning talks with the WGA again. *fingers crossed*

We have already been contacting Mr Moonves in support of Moonlight. Now, let him know how we feel about the network working things out with the writers. As Love Lasts Forever (episode #1x11) proved again, we have excellent storytellers in our show's writing room ~ Trevor Munson, Ron Koslow, Jill Blotevogel, Josh Pate, Chip Johannessen, Gabrielle Stanton, Harry Werksman, et al. We don't want scab writers who do not understand Mick, Beth, Coraline and Josef to take over, do we? NO! Call and write to let Les Moonves know we want Moonlight to be safe in the hands of our scribes. The writers simply want their fair portion of the considerable profits made from their creative work. Keep your message gracious and to the point. I can count on you :)

CBS head honcho Les Moonves hinted at an industry conference Thursday that the television giant is trying to restart negotiations with the striking Writers Guild of America, but offered no details as to what that those efforts entail.

Moonves, speaking at the Citigroup Entertainment, Media & Telecommunications conference in Phoenix, stressed that the writers strike is not having an adverse impact on the network so far.

“We sincerely hope that the talks begin shortly and that there is a resolution,” Moonves said. “I can tell you there are some steps that are being taken to push that ahead, and we hope that reasonable people prevail and that we can make a go of it in the near future.”

But later in the conference Moonves said that he is “guardedly optimistic that it [the strike] will be over in the next few months.”

In the meantime, Moonves said that the strike is not having an adverse effect on CBS’ bottom line.

“We can finish this television season just fine,” Moonves said. “The television season ends at the end of May, obviously revenue will be down somewhat because ratings will be down. We have some live football games left, the NCAA [March Madness] basketball tournament is coming up, we have reality programming that is available, we have some original programming. The CBS schedule repeats better than anybody else’s schedule, because our procedural dramas – the CSI’s of the world – repeat extremely well. Our revenue will be down somewhat, but the cost of producing original programming will be down more.”

CBS to renew Moonlight?!?

In his MediaWeek column, John Consoli wrote about comments made by Les Moonves (President & CEO of CBS) regarding how the network will deal with a long writer's strike. Here is an excerpt from his article. The white highlights are my emphasis. Get ready........

Look for CBS to begin airing sister pay cable network Showtime hit drama Dexter sometime in midseason if the Writers Strike is prolonged, and for the broadcast network to bring back freshman sitcom The Big Bang Theory and first-year drama Moonlight next season.

Speaking at the 35th annual UBS Global Media & Communications Conference in New York today (Dec. 4), Les Moonves, CBS Corp. president & CEO, mentioned the two freshman shows as likely to return next season, and that CBS would be looking to air some Showtime shows to supplement its schedule should the Writers Guild strike continue and effect the return of first-run shows on the network.

Of the 5 new shows that CBS put on this Fall, he singled Big Bang Theory & Moonlight out. And stated.... he'd take two out of five any day."That's Hall of Fame batting," Moonves said... according to the Hollywood Reporter.

*CHEER* This is the first encouraging news we have received from the network. Our renewal campaign is having an effect, my friends. :) Be sure to continue watching every show, recruiting new viewers and contacting the network. We want them to realize this is the right decision!

Write to CBS and Support Moonlight!!!

We have almost made it through the first week of no Moonlight, only two more to go! Think happy thoughts... think happy thoughts....

Let's put this long break to positive use. Write &/or call CBS in support of our show! Sending email is a good thing, but actual letters and cards piling up makes even more of a statement. Postcards are often effective because the message can be seen immediately instead of needing to be opened first. Also, this is Christmas card time. It is easy to add one (or ten) for the network to your list. :)

As I mentioned previously, Ms Tassler said "Oh, I love my vampire!" and admitted to being "smitten" with Alex. "Alex is so warm and genuine and such a wonderfully talented actor. We had seen his episodes of 'The Shield,' and he's got such great charisma and is so unassuming in his crazy good looks that he just endears himself to you." We do not want her to forget why she was impressed with Moonlight to begin with or to change her mind.

A few thoughts.... please, keep your message clear and to the point. Eight page fan speak loaded letters can be off-putting. No threatening, name calling and so on. Who wants to read negative, rude mail?! I know you wouldn't do anything like that. :) We want CBS to have positive thoughts of Moonlight and its fans. Let them know how much we love our show, and appreciate them airing it for us. If you have shopped with the companies that advertise during Moonlight, be sure to mention that. We can write directly to the advertisers and thank them for choosing to run their commercials during Moonlight.
