Fan video dedicated to Worldwide Moonlight Red Cross Campaign

The always clever Kelcouch has made a wonderful fan video to promote the Worldwide Moonlight Red Cross Donation Campaign :) She selected very appropriate scenes from our show (for example, Josef saying "Remind me to donate a little something to charity" ~ ha!) to go along with the theme. Music used is the song I'm Not Over by Carolina Liar.

Worldwide Moonlight Red Cross Campaign

As you know, the one year anniversary of Moonlight's premiere is fast approaching.... September 28th. Many Moonlight fans are making plans to commemorate that special date. Some are having gatherings & picnics, marathon watching parties, doing volunteer work and so on.

The international community has come up with a splendid idea. Fans are being asked to donate to the Red Cross in honor of Moonlight. With all the horrible hurricanes, earthquakes, floods & other disasters, the money is definitely needed. Be sure to notify the charity that you are donating in the name of Moonlight :)

Please note : Your funds should be donated directly to the Red Cross!

Here are a few details ~

Dear Moonlight Community,

Over at Moonlight en EspaƱol we (Latinamerican and Spanish fans) have been discussing a world wide campaign to raise Moonlight awareness. We decided to organize one day where fans from around the world could make a monetary donation to the Red Cross in Moonlight's name. We suggest a monetary donation because this is more approachable than a blood drive, and this way the Red Cross can invest in what is necessary. The date we have set is the 28th of September, Moonlight's premier anniversary. The donations go from 0.50 cents to 50 dollars, which will go directly to the country's Red Cross. These donations can be made in a number of convenient forms depending on the country and/or region. This includes via a phone call, the Internet, and of course, at the local Red Cross headquarters.

This campaign is readily accessible to fans all over the world, and will take place in one specific day, the 28th. The plan is to draw media attention to the widespread nature of our donations. With events that are simultaneous and worldwide there is much more coverage and impact than if it were done locally, as it occurs, for example, with worldwide movie premiers. Therefore it is important to adhere to the date and make sure that our donations are done on time.

We have been asked to include copies of the campaign and to send them to major parties, such as Nina Tassler, Joel Silver, CBS, WBTV, etc. which we will gladly comply as soon as we have gathered the results.

We are still working to include more countries. So far we have contacted and recieved a positive response from the United States of America, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, the UK, Australia and Latinamerica.

NY Daily News' interview with Alex O'Loughlin & Jason Dohring

The New York Daily News interviewed Alex O'Loughlin & Jason Dohring for their article about the wonderful Moonlight Blood Drive. Lots of praise for Moonlight fans :)

'Moonlight' fans are bloody determined
By Stu Horvath

Fans of the CBS vampire drama "Moonlight" are out for blood.

To ensure their favorite show gets picked up for a second season, they have coordinated with the American Red Cross for a series of charity blood drives, and the show's star, Alex O'Loughlin, has stepped up to become a national spokesman for the charity.

"The blood drive is so fantastic. It's just great to be a service," says O'Loughlin. "It's the American Red Cross. It's awesome. I'm their vampy spokesperson!"

Fans have organized dozens of blood drives across the country, including several in New York City following O'Loughlin's appearances at the New York Comic Con and CBS' "Early Show." Today, another drive is scheduled outside the "Late Show With David Letterman." Pledges can also be made on www.youchoose.net or local Red Cross blood centers.

Fan-run actions to save beloved television shows have become increasingly popular in recent years, more so after the peanut campaign to save CBS' "Jericho" succeeded in landing the show a second season after it was canceled. "Moonlight" co-star Jason Dohring is no stranger to fan campaigns: Devotees of his previous show, "Veronica Mars," flooded the offices of The CW network with Mars bars in an attempt to save the show.

"The 'Veronica Mars' fan base was a little more youth-oriented because we were in high school," says Dohring. "Now it's the mothers who come up and ask me to drink their blood."

O'Loughlin's heart pumps faster when he talks about his show's fans.

"Fans of the show are so devoted, so giving of their time and energy," says O'Loughlin. "It's a pleasure to be a part of something that people care about as much as I do."

"I really care about this show. Actually, I bleed for the show regularly. I'm forever getting thrown through windows and actually bleeding."

"Moonlight" follows O'Loughlin's adventures as Mick St. John, a private investigator who was reluctantly turned into a vampire and has since devoted himself to protecting the humans of Los Angeles instead of preying on them.

O'Loughlin is hoping his turn as an immortal lasts a long, long time.

"I've been thinking about getting my teeth ground down and elongated," he says. "I'm thinking about making that kind of commitment to being a vampire."

Sophia Myles interview from Moonlight's Paley Center for Media event

MSN UK has a short, fun inteview with Sophia from the Paley Center for Media's Moonlight event. I chuckled at her description of living in Los Angeles with & without a job, as well as her comment that "They don't want English blood." Also, I agree with her about Moonlight being renewed.

Sophia loves life in LA

British actress Sophia Myles says she's loved sinking her teeth into new US vampire show Moonlight, and says filming in Hollywood has been a "dream come true".

Speaking at a special Q&A with fans held in Beverly Hills, the actress said joining the cast had been amazing.

She said: "I was really excited to play an American. I've done so many period dramas that to play a contemporary girl that works 9 to 5 was interesting. Also to get the opportunity to work at Warner Bros Studios it's just a dream come true."

The actress added: "LA is a fantastic city, when you're employed here it's the most fabulous city in the world - when you're unemployed you want to commit suicide. I've had different times in my life and different relationships with this city, but right now it's rocking."

Sophia is confident that the show has earned a second series, saying: "I'll be shocked if there isn't [another season]. I'll be really disappointed in CBS if there isn't."

To show the networks how much they love the show, fans even gave blood in a special Red Cross drive in the reception area of the Paley Television Centre. Unfortunately, Sophia wasn't able to join in.

She said: "I'm not allowed to give blood. All of our fans are allowed to give blood to try and bring the show back, but I can't because I'm not an American citizen. They don't want English blood."

Moonlight airs in the UK on LIVING on Tuesdays at 10pm.

New article about the Moonlight Blood Drive & Alex O'Loughlin on Buddy TV's site

Kris De Leon has published a new article about our Moonlight Blood Drive and Alex O'Loughlin on Buddy TV's website. Spreading the word! Again, it is wonderful to hear how proud Alex is of his Moonlight fans. :)

Moonlight: Alex O'Loughlin Grateful for Blood Campaign
by Kris De Leon

As the star of Moonlight, Alex O'Loughlin couldn't be more pleased with fans that have put in great efforts, not to mention blood, sweat and tears, to promote the CBS freshman series. But among all the campaigns, what recently and significantly caught the Australian actor's attention is the fact that fans have come up with a philanthropic act that supports the series and helps save lives at the same time.

As reported recently, fans have launched a blood drive in association with the American Red Cross to request the network to renew Moonlight for a second season and to celebrate new episodes of the vampire detective series when it returns on Friday, April 25.

“It's just so great. Even more so than them caring about the show is that such initiative is being used to participate in a community service at such a selfless level. I think it's such a great idea, and it's such a wonderful project and I'm thrilled to be a part of it. And then on a show level, it's thrilling to know that people care about the show as much as I do,” O'Loughlin said of the blood drive.

While fans are patiently waiting for new episodes to air, O'Loughlin and the rest of the cast of Moonlight are also anxiously waiting for a second season pick up. Although the show has established a solid following and above average ratings, as of the moment, the network has not made any official announcement regarding the fate of the series.

“CBS is so unpredictable in how and why they make the decisions they make which is why no one, not even the other networks, can second-guess them at this time of the year before the upfronts. Personally, I think it'd be a smart business choice to pick the show up, because we have such a rabid fan base and people will tune in to watch,” O'Loughlin, who plays lead character Mick St. John, said.

“As an actor, I can't ever afford to second-guess anything, because often I'm wrong, and it hurts too bad,” he added.

If you're a fan of Moonlight, you can support the show through the blood campaign and by watching new episodes beginning April 25 on CBS.

Donating to the Alliance for Children's Rights in honor of Moonlight and Nina Tassler

The Alliance for Children's Rights is an amazing charity. It offers many much needed programs such as health care, special education, mentoring, court advocacy for abused & abandoned kids, assistance with adoption and for those exiting the foster care system. When I think of the children who have nothing and nobody, it breaks my heart.

Mission Statement ~

"The Alliance for Children's Rights is protecting the rights and futures of abused and impoverished children throughout Los Angeles County, in hopes of creating a world in which all children are able to have a safe and permanent family, access to quality health care, a quality education, and all of the support and services they so rightfully deserve."

During their 15th anniversary dinner on Monday, March 10th, 2008 Nina Tassler (President of CBS Entertainment) will be presented with the National Champion for Children Award! I am happy to hear that she is so involved with such a wonderful charity.

Of course, you are aware that Nina supported Moonlight from the beginning. She has famously been quoted as saying she was "smitten" with Alex O'Loughlin the first time she met him. Who isn't?!? *wink*

I have made a donation to The Alliance for Children's Rights specifying that it is in honor of Moonlight and Nina. A card is sent to the person to notify them of your donation in their name. My thinking is this charity more than deserves our support.... I want to thank Nina for standing up for Moonlight.... AND encourage her to continue to do so :)

Moonlight fans are a generous & caring bunch, so I knew you would want to hear this news also. For others who would like to volunteer, contribute to this incredible organization or find out more about their programs, here is a link ~

Toys for Tots at Pole Position Raceway

I just returned from dropping off oodles of toys at the Pole Position Raceway here in OKC. The staff members were so nice. Of course, I explained that the only reason I knew about their Toys for Tots drive is because of Alex O'Loughlin and Moonlight :) We talked about the show for quite a while. I try to recruit new viewers where ever I can. It was a lot of fun. We encourage you to donate to this wonderful charity!

Reminder! You can see Alex O'Loughlin in person today :)

Morning..... I want to remind you that Alex O'Loughlin will be making a public appearance TODAY at the Pole Position Raceway location in Corona. He is going to be racing go-karts & signing autographs to help Toys for Tots. I admire him even more for supporting such a wonderful charity! Helping kiddos and having fun ~ does it get any better than that?!?

A great band of fans from Moonlightline.com will be going to the event to represent us. Yea! You know they are only doing it for us, they won't enjoy seeing Alex in person at all. *wink* I am so glad they will be there to show him (and CBS) that Moonlight fans are a caring and wonderful bunch.

Please, share your Alex stories, photos and videos. If you find yourself with an extra autograph, you can always send it to your old pal Kandye. hehehe....

We will be going to our Pole Position location here in OKC to donate :) If you are not near a track, you can use this button to contribute directly to Toys for Tots.

You can see Alex O'Loughlin at 9:30 AM today, December 2nd.

Alex to appear at Pole Position Raceway's Charity Toy Drive

Normally, around this time, I would be happy because Friday had finally arrived. Two weeks to go! At least, we made it through one long week of waiting. Since there is no Moonlight tonight, how about some positive Moonlight news :)

First up ~ Alex O'Loughlin, along with other CBS stars, will be doing his part for a worthy charity. Pole Position Raceway is sponsoring a great toy drive! All of their locations will be accepting donations. Alex will appear at their Corona, CA track this Sunday, December 2nd at 9:30 AM. That's right ~ you can see him in person AND give to underprivileged children. What a great combination! Alex, Skeet Ulrich (Jericho), Kathryn Morris (Cold Case), Stanton Barrett (NASCAR) & Mike Metzger (X Games) will be accepting donations, signing autographs & doing interviews.

If I lived in California, I would so be there :) Can you imagine how overrun they are gonna be with Moonlight addicts?!? I have faith in my blog readers. I know you will do us proud! If you go, please share your videos, photos and stories ~ I'd like to hear about it. Or, a kind soul could get me an Alex autograh too. *wink*

Luckily, they also have a location here in Oklahoma City. We give to Toys for Tots, the Christmas Connection and so on. This year, we will be adding the Pole Position toy drive to our list in honor of Alex and Moonlight!
