CBS issued a press release today listing the television shows that they are renewing for the 2008/2009 season. Moonlight is not on the list! A few months ago, CEO Les Moonves mentioned that The Big Bang Theory & Moonlight were the freshman series that were "likely" to get a second season. Big Bang Theory is on the renewal list. :( This is the reason we can not let up in supporting our show. It is imperative that the four new episodes airing the rest of this season (beginning April 11th) have huge ratings. Continue writing and calling the network, media shows and magazines, keep Moonlight and our stars at the top of Hey! Nielsen. Above all.... spread the word!
One last thing......... please, remember to be polite and concise whether writing or actually speaking to someone at CBS. Threatening to not watch the network ever again or being rude won't get us what we are trying so hard to achieve. Moonlight fans are a great bunch so I don't think it will be a problem. :)

Eight of the Top 20 Scripted Series on Television to Return
CBS has renewed 11 series for next season in a move that will return 10 hours of the Network's primetime schedule and eight of the top 20 scripted series on television.
The 11 series are COLD CASE, CRIMINAL MINDS, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, CSI: MIAMI, CSI: NY, GHOST WHISPERER, NCIS, NUMB3RS, freshman comedy THE BIG BANG THEORY, TWO AND A HALF MEN and WITHOUT A TRACE. They join the previously announced SURVIVOR, another top 20 program, and THE AMAZING RACE, which ranks among the top 30.
COLD CASE is averaging 12.38 million viewers. COLD CASE is produced by CBS Paramount Network Television in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Warner Bros. Television. Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Meredith Stiehm and Veena Sud are executive producers.
CRIMINAL MINDS is Wednesday's top scripted program in viewers, averaging 14.06 million viewers in its competitive Wednesday (9:00-10:00 PM) time period. CRIMINAL MINDS is produced by ABC Studios in association with CBS Paramount Network Television. Mark Gordon, Ed Bernero and Deb Spera are executive producers.
CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION remains Thursday's Number One program with a weekly audience of 17.78 million viewers. NUMB3RS has placed first in its time period in viewers (9.36m) and key demographics in 11 of its last 12 original broadcasts. NUMB3RS is produced by Scott Free Productions in association with CBS Paramount Network Television. Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Ken Sanzel, David W. Zucker, Nicolas Falacci, Cheryl Heuton and Don McGill are executive producers.
THE BIG BANG THEORY, in its freshman season, is averaging 8.36 million viewers and, with original episodes, has improved the year ago Monday (8:30-9:00 PM) time period by +15% in adults 18-49 and +5% in viewers. TWO AND A HALF MEN is television's #1 comedy, averaging 13.6 million viewers. Support Moonlight!
Think of all Moonlight has given to us! A crescendo of ever increasingly wonderful episodes each week. The Mortal Cure (episode #1x12) is evidence alone of the outstanding writing and acting. It is up to us to keep our end of the bargain and show what true Moonlight fans we are. Now, more than ever, we need to support our show by asking for it to be officially renewed. I've already sent emails of thanks for tonight's episode to all the CBS addresses I have, as well as sending feedback. I'm sure you have done the same. Next, I will be writing more postcards and letters. I had to write to you first ;)
You know how important it is to continue supporting Moonlight. We will show the network that we are not bandwagon fans who lose interest when new episodes run out!
Visit the official CBS Moonlight website as often as you can. They track the hits, so we want the number to be very high.

You are such wonderful Moonlight fans, I have no doubt that you are writing and calling CBS about our show. :) I just want to encourage you to keep up the good work! Moonlight has received some great news lately.... winning the People's Choice Award, Les Moonves saying it is "likely to return," being number one in our time slot this past Friday, etc. I know that Alex O'Loughlin's humble acceptance speech gained many new viewers! Emailing is great.... however, sending postcards and letters has a lot of impact. Even though it only takes a few minutes to write & stick a stamp on a postcard, the network knows more effort is involved than sending email at 3am. ha! They think it is a sign of really dedicated fans. Show them how devoted Moonlight fans are to our show! Keep our messages polite, well written and to the point.

Contact CBS & Nina Tassler In Support Of Moonlight!
You may be wondering who this lovely lady is pictured above. She is Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment. When Jericho was cancelled, their fans went to work, famously sending pounds and pounds of peanuts to the CBS offices. Ms Tassler is the one who decided to renew Jericho after all.I have read quotes from Ms Tassler about Moonlight in several articles. Here is an excerpt from her interview with Maria Elena Fernandez and the Los Angeles Times Newspaper regarding our show ~
"Oh, I love my vampire!" CBS President of Entertainment Nina Tassler said recently, beginning a conversation about her network's new drama, "Moonlight." Other networks might have postponed the series or decided not to air it, but Tassler, who says she's always had "affection for the vampire character" and admits she was "smitten" by star Alex O'Loughlin the first time she met him, remains steadfast.
"You have to remember that this is under the auspices of Joel Silver and we've got a lot riding on Joel," Tassler said. "As you continue to work on a show, if I still feel inspired, and I feel they are making exciting choices, then our enthusiasm remains. This is not a perfect science. It's an evolutionary process."
Although CBS has not picked up a full season of episodes, Tassler ordered four more scripts a few weeks ago."I am pleased," she said. "I am encouraged. I know we have great episodes ahead. It's an interesting season. It's a marathon, not a sprint."
As we know, the show was completely recast except for Alex. The reporter asked Ms Tassler if they ever considered replacing him also ~
"No, no, no, no," Tassler said. "Mick St. John was Alex O'Loughlin. Alex is so warm and genuine and such a wonderfully talented actor. We had seen his episodes of 'The Shield,' and he's got such great charisma and is so unassuming in his crazy good looks that he just endears himself to you."
Sounds like Alex casts his spell on everyone!
While what she has said in the past seems encouraging, we do not know what she & the rest of the executives are thinking now. I'm sure you have also read that Moonlight's producer, Joel Silver, said "it will kill us" when asked how the writer's strike could affect the show. :(
I suggest that we contact Ms Tassler! Writing letters, emailing and calling. Thank her for previously supporting our show, and ask her to continue to do so. Also, show her what an extensive and LOYAL fan base Moonlight has grown in such a short amount of time. CBS needs to see that we are dedicated to keeping our show on the air!

Writer's strike begins today! Will it affect Moonlight?!
It is official ~ the writer's strike that has been talked about for months began today in New York City and Hollywood. Already, "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" have both announced that they will be showing repeats. They rely on daily and topical jokes, which takes ~ you guessed it ~ writers. And you thought they wrote all of their material. :)
One of the reasons those of us who adore Moonlight have heard so much about this is because new TV shows, which are already vulnerable, can be devastated by the strike. From reports, there are several episodes that are filmed and ready to go. That should mean that we will get our Mick and Beth fix for a few more weeks. What happens after that though? Will CBS stand by Moonlight if the strike drags on and on? It has great momentum now. If the strike lasts a long time, will the program have the same following when it begins airing again?!?
I know that you have also been sending them feedback expressing your feelings about the show. Now, more than ever we have to keep showing them how loyal and serious we are as fans of Moonlight!
