CBS brags about Moonlight winning a People's Choice Award
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 9 - The fans have spoken. MOONLIGHT was chosen by the people as this year's "Favorite New TV Drama" on last night's telecast of THE 34th ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS on the CBS Television Network.
Alex O'Loughlin, who plays Mick St. John, a captivating, charming and immortal private investigator from Los Angeles, accepted the award on behalf of the cast via video from Australia.
This year, fans logged over 10 million votes for their favorites by logging onto http://www.pcavote.com/. Three categories, Favorite New TV Comedy, Favorite New TV Drama and Favorite User-Generated Video, were still open for voting during the first hour of the telecast.
MOONLIGHT airs Fridays from 9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.
Video of Moonlight's People's Choice Awards win and Alex's speech
This is a video showing Queen Latifah announcing Moonlight as the winner, Alex O'Loughlin's acceptance speech and his answers to the fan's questions. I know that he won over even more fans with his thoughtful words and easy going manner. He looks soooooo good in this clip. He really needed, and deserved, the time off. I adore that lovely Australian accent.
Of course, one of the fan questions was "What do you think will happen between Mick and Beth?" Part of his reply "...the relationship can only go so far for the show to continue to be a show..." is what he has said in many interviews.
Who else thought the answer to "What makes Vampires so sexy?" should be "DUH ~ just look at him!?!" *grin*
Alex was the only winner not holding the People's Choice Award trophy in their video, right? Hmmmm.... maybe the organizers did not have time to ship it all the way to Australia.
Alex O'Loughlin's People's Choice Awards Acceptance Speech
Several great Moonlight fans and blog readers have emailed me transcripts from Alex O'Loughlin's People's Choice Awards acceptance speech. Thanks to all :) Here it is for those who missed it on the award show, or those of us who just wanna read his gracious words again. "I'm lost for words. Well... I'm not. I've got some words, and I'll give them to you now. I'm so incredibly happy. I feel so privileged to be a part of this show in the first place. Having to stop it at 12 episodes, because of you know, because of the writers strike and stuff has been really frustrating. But to even be considered for this award was thrilling to me, because it's not about a panel of judges. It's about our fans, and it's about all you people that watch the show. It's about the people. The people voting. To know ~ I found out today ~ we've had over 10 million votes, which is incomprehensible to me. I'm just really, really thrilled. I'm so, so happy to accept this award. I'd love to just say congratulations to Private Practice and Gossip Girl... the other two finalists with Moonlight. Thank you so much to all you people who voted for us. And, let's all pray for another season. Thank you! Thank you!"

Moonlight WINS People's Choice Award!!!!!!!!!!
How adorable was Alex O'Loughlin's gracious acceptance speech. He took the time to give a shout out to the other finalists ~ Gossip Girl & Private Practice. What a class act! They filmed him with an ocean view. Beautiful background to go along with our beautiful Mick. I love that he mentioned hoping Moonlight gets renewed. Surely, CBS can't cancel our show now! I am off to email the network a congratulations message, and remind them that the fans deserve more seasons of Moonlight.

I have also already bugged the PCA folks for a video of Moonlight's win & Alex's clip. Oooo... and told them that he definitely has my vote for best acceptance speech.
People's Choice Awards voting open during show!
The People's Choice Awards winners will be announced TONIGHT! We will see if all of our Moonlight voting has paid off. :) This year, they added the new feature "Ask a Nominee a Question." Can you imagine how flooded they were with questions from Moonlight fans? I'm curious to see if they show Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles, Brian J White, Jason Dohring, Shannyn Sossamon, Trevor Munson, Joel Silver or Ron Koslow answering any. That would be too cool!
Remember...... Voting for Moonlight's category ~ Favorite New TV Drama ~ will be open during the show. According to the PCA website, voting will continue through the first half of their East Coast broadcast. VOTE!

CBS video congratulating their People's Choice Awards nominees
CBS created this video to congratulate their shows and stars that were nominated for People's Choice Awards. It includes CSI (original in Las Vegas), The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Neil Patrick Harris and... of course... Moonlight! Among the show moments they chose to use is the scene in Fever (episode #1x04) of Mick telling Beth "It's a giant thrill ride that never ends." One of my favorite quotes.

Alex O'loughlin & Moonlight in People's Choice Awards Promo Video
Hey guys..... A new promo video has been added to the People's Choice Awards website. Queen Latifah is urging everyone to vote for their favorites in movies, music and television. When she mentions each category, a small clip is shown as an example. For movies, it is Johnny Depp as Captain Jack in Pirates of the Caribbean. What do they use for television?!? A spot of Alex O'Loughlin as Mick St John.... of course! YEA! CBS will air the People's Choice Awards, so it makes sense for the network to feature their own program. They could have used a snippet from one of their other series that were nominated, such as Two and a Half Men or CSI. Instead, they chose Moonlight! To see for yourself, use this link to their website. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the 1st video on the left. It has the American flag as a background.

People's Choice Awards show cancelled, but winners will still be announced!
The People's Choice Awards show has been cancelled. However, winners will still be announced so please keep voting every day!
Since the WGA would not give the award ceremony a strike waiver, the organizers feared that the usually celebrity filled evening would be star-less. There would also be no one to write the jokes and lines for the evening. The plan is to pre-tape clips and such for each category. Queen Latifah will also tape her segments on a sound stage instead of at the Shrine Auditorium. If the writer's strike does not end soon, the upcoming Golden Globe Awards may be in the same predicament.
I think you will be excited about another change to the show. They are asking the fans to send in questions they have for the stars. During their acceptance speeches, the winners will answer a few of them. :)
Thus far, over 10 million votes have been cast this year!
CBS will air the awards program on Tuesday, January 8th, 2008 as scheduled.

CBS updates their official Moonlight site
CBS has updated the official Moonlight web page! It now has a link to the People's Choice Awards site for voting (only 5 days & 14 hours left for us to vote), and has a button to allow you to get a TIVO season pass for the show. Recently, they finally added promo photos from 12:04 (episode #1x08) and Fleur De Lis (episode #1x09). I try not to get my hopes up just because they made a few changes, but I can't help hoping it means they realize Moonlight deserves their attention. Join me in sending CBS feedback to thank them for the new content.

Only a week left for People's Choice Awards voting!
When I hopped onto the People's Choice Awards site to perform my voting ritual, I noticed that there is only 7 days 10 hours and 39 minutes left before the show voting ends. Keep those votes coming! Remember, you can vote every day. Ask family, colleagues, neighbors, friends, strangers to do the same. I have added the PCA site & info to my email signature.
We had dinner with a friend last night at Hideaway Pizza (Super yummy!). They have a computer set up in the waiting area to amuse their customers. I ended up with a whole crowd gathered around it to check out Moonlight and to vote for it on the PCA web page. Several said they would vote from home too. It also got some people who have not seen the show interested in giving it a try. YEA!
