I am watching Three Rivers because Alex is in it. Although I was one of those crazy Moonlight addicts (still am, still watch those few episodes they gave us) I made a HUGE effort not to judge 3 Rivers or compare it to Moonlight. When Alex did the Criminal Minds episode, he was almost as mesmerizing as when he played Mick St John - so I thought, this is going to be good. I knew Alex was a great (and I believe under-rated) actor and after that episode was really expecting great things of 3 Rivers. I have been really, really disappointed.

Alex is just NOT given a chance to show what he can do. The show itself (despite an interesting premise which has a lot of possibilities) is bland and Alex's part is bland too. Despite the fact that he is billed as the Lead and is shown on all the posters front and center, this is really an ensemble case, with everyone having more-or-less equal screen time, dialogue and storyline.

There was one recent scene where Alex's ability to bring charm and depth to a character showed through... the end of the episode where he was playing Guitar Hero with the Somalian patient. That hasn't happened again.

The most recent episode, where some of "Andy's" past and a potential threat from it shows promise, maybe giving Alex more to do in upcoming episodes. I sure hope so.

Also, whats with the changing timeslots? Not only this week, but (in my area at least) this show can often follow the NFL game and is often pushed back because of it. So the DVR'd episodes are half football and only half the episode. Luckily Comcast is at least showing this through OnDemand so you can still catch the episode, but this kind of thing can't be helping.

I am pretty sure Alex's future is bright despite this pedestrian show... he will be back somewhere, sometime showing us his considerable talents and I will continue to watch to offer support to someone I feel has been given (and continues to be given) a raw deal by CBS. I knew it wouldn't be Moonlight... I just expected it would be better than this.

I hope I get some responses, I would like to know if any of the "old gang" that used to post regularly here about Moonlight are feeling the same way about 3 Rivers.
