Moonlight debuts on German television today

All our friends in Germany are especially happy....... Moonlight premieres on ProSieben ( Pro 7 ) today! More international love for our show :) This cover is from German guide "TV Spielfilm XXL." As you can see, Holly Valance is the cover story. Poor Alex O'Loughlin ~ er ~ Mick St John is relegated to a small photo and Moonlight mentioned at the bottom. At least, he is still on the magazine cover. I know you are shocked to hear that I think Alex should have been the only one gracing the front page. *grin*

They did a nice write up for the show. I'll post it here for you. The translation was hilarious but very confusing, so I left it in the original German. Here is an example of the translator's English version...........

"No less than 20 tons wobbled with the transmitter in, and even in the hospital CBS president Nina Tassler before the loud cult municipality was not safe: " A physician in the laboratory smock came purely. I feared already, I would have an incurable illness, when he suddenly hervorzog" a bag of peanuts; , Tassler remembers."

See what I mean ~ hahaha! Basically, they are talking about fan campaigns to save shows, such as Roswell & Jericho... with emphasis on our Save Moonlight efforts, the blood drive and so on.

The Super Summer Series : Dr. Psycho - Moonlight - Doctors Diary

Moonlight - Pro Sieben, Mo., 23.6.2008, 20.15 Uhr:

Hey Kiba ~

It definitely made me laugh too :) That translation was using the Yahoo &/or Goggle online translation programs. Hopefully, the fate of our countries never hinge on a conversation translated by their software. hehehehe....

I guess Germany thinks it has to use the recognition factor with Holly to promote the show, but Holly Valance? Just because she is Alex's girlfriend? The show is so much more than that! It is not about Holly at all! I find it a bit insulting myself.

"It is not about Holly at all! I find it a bit insulting myself."

I understand why they used Holly but in total agreement with above quote from anonymous.
I felt the insult as well.

Hi Anonymous ~

The magazine has one article about Holly Valance ( which probably mentions Moonlight since she plays Lola in the B.C. episode and is dating Alex O'Loughlin ) and a separate entry about the show itself. Since Holly is a star in Europe & Australia, I'm guessing they may have timed her cover story to coincide with Moonlight's premiere.

Holly is on page 5 and Moonlight is on page 10.

Also, a German friend told me that TV Spielfilm XXL only features women prominently on the front page.

I work for SIEMENS a huge German Company and some of my German engineers agree is not the best translation. One thing thou...they do recognize Holy Valance as a famous Sex Symbol in Europe and think she is a knockout!

@moonlight i hope so, that translation just made me think like "What? That's so wrong..."

and about the magazine, most of the time they put some female celebrity on the cover because it sells the mag.
to be honest, I don't think holly is such a big celeb in germany i remember one of her songs..nothing else. Of course if there was a little bit of alex eye-candy on the cover i'd be tempted to buy the magazine ;)

also @moonlight² i think you're great for featuring all the "save moonlight" stuff, the show is lucky to have such great fans and since I'm basically half german/half czech I really enjoyed the video from the czech fans!just sort of the most off-topic comment ever ;)

Personally, I think they need to come into the 21st century and put ALEX on the cover instead of Holly. He has proven to be quite a sex symbol and in my humble, albeit FEMALE, opinion, his draw would be 10 times greater!
That pic doesn't even look like Holly (not her hair, her eyes)---it is amazing what professional make-up can do. Now Alex looks good every which way! :-)
