SPOILER ALERT ~ Moonlight season 2 spoilers from Harry

SPOILER ALERT!

We have all been wondering just what stories Moonlight would tell us if it has a second season. Harry Werksman (executive producer & writer) gave a bit of season 2 info to the fans. Thanks to Nikki @ Buzzwire & several friends at the convention, I'm sharing what he had to say with you.

As we heard previously, Moonlight's creators Trevor Munson & Ron Koslow were not with the show for the final 4 episodes. Harry confirms this :( They "were fired because CBS wanted the show to move more in the direction of "CSI vampire" (Harry's words). Ron and Trevor couldn't/wouldn't do that."

Of course, keep in mind that all storylines are subject to change as we have seen many times in the past.

WARNING ~ Spoilers ahead!

1 ~ Officially not returning/dead: Ryder, Lt. Carl, and Josef's Sleeping Beauty (Sarah Whitley). Harry said they are all done, though wouldn't reveal how they ended up gone.

2 ~ Josef's attorney & freshie, Simone Walker, was supposed to return in season two. However.... Abigail Spencer, the actress playing her, failed to mention she's pregnant. They're not sure what to do with that.

The Cleaner will also be featured more. Harry said the part was originally written with Claudia Black in mind, but she was pregnant at the time. They were very happy when she finally played the part in Moonlight's season finale, Sonata (episode #1x16).

This is a biggie! For months, we've all been discussing Beth having a rare blood type, "unwanted" link to Coraline & speculated about why she was selected to be kidnapped. Here is the answer.....

3 ~ Beth IS indeed part of the French Royal bloodline. She does hold the key to the cure, which is why she was kidnapped. Harry also said that because of this Beth CAN NOT be turned! Whether that means she can't because it wouldn't work, or because she would die was left up in the air.

Another thing we've been chatting about is who gave the list of vamp names to ADA Talbot. Some wondered if there was a group of "watchers" as you find in other genre shows & films.

4 ~ Season two was going to revolve around a group called "The Legion" who have been around forever. They are humans. THEY GAVE THE LIST TO TALBOT!!! They feel that the vampire population has gotten out of control in Los Angeles and needs to be reduced. The Legion basically declare war with the Vampires. Lance & Coraline return asking Mick to help. Basically, he now only has one choice - fight with the vampires or fight with the humans. Harry said total vampire apocalypse would indeed be the case. One planned scene was having the L.A. River at night FULL with 100s of Cleaners taking on the Legion army.

I will repeat my comment from a previous post... as bad as the cancellation was and as heartbroken as we all were, it may be better to have it cancelled (although even better to have it renewed elsewhere with a chance to develop properly) than to have stayed on CBS and been ruined.

Although (like everyone else) I LOVED MIck/Beth, I can see a situation where Beth is not in every episode, where they had to separate (either physically or emotionally or both) and the story could still be compelling to me.

That said -- I sure hope (a) we get a second chance and (b) Sophia changes her mind!

I think CBS knew they would cancel Moonlight when they fired Trevor Munson & Ron Koslow. They wanted more CSI type formats and that just isn't Moonlight (Thank God)!

I hope Sophia stays in the cast. Her on screen presence with Alex is supurb. The MickBeth love story is as good as Luke & Laura or Scully & Mulder.

Based on what I just read, I'm almost glad that Moonlight was cancelled. With all the changes planned, and all the deaths, it would be a no-go for me.

What? No way,

No Sophia and Alex? No i will not have it any other way it must be them no one else.

Sorry i love those two together in Moonlight...that is the whole reason why i watched. No Sophia as much as i love Alex i dont know if i could watch....Sorry!!!!

These are the changes that MAY likely happen if they continue season 2, not the changes that only would have happened if they stayed with CBS, right?

Also, I love Sophia as Beth, but if she refuses to come because of living in NY, then I for one still want to see Alex and Jason, and the gang in Moonlight---I would be willing to try a new Beth, although very reluctantly, rather than lose our guys completely.

Can't imagine another year without Alex to feast my eyes on!

Alex O'Loughlin and Sophia Myles ARE MOONLIGHT- without either of them there is no show. And it really does show what #@$?*&@'s the people at cbs are with all of the ridiculous changes they had in mind. I agree with Lyn- Moonlight WOULD have been ruined, it would have been unwatchable if it had stayed on that network. Hopefully it can be worked out...

As far as Sophia refusing to move to NYC, aside from the MickBeth stranglehold they have on all of us...which is why we watch.....I think it would be PROFESSIONAL suicide on her part to refuse. And there are a number of reasons for this rationale....

1) she always said you have to go where the work is...
2) she would still get the exposure she dearly needs...
3) what if Moonlight only gets a second season and no other....what's one year out of an actress's life....
4) she'd probably get a bad rap "in the business"....
5) MONEY TALKS, nobody walks, just make her an offer she can't refuse!!!

Hopefully she has as astute manager, handler, publicist & agent who would talk some sense into her.

I would continue to watch without her...alot sadder there would be no more M/B...hopefully I could warm up to a different love interest. (oh please God make it me...HA!)

Moonlight would just take a different turn, that's all. But Alex is worth watching as Mick St John, no matter what happens.

But once again, she would be a very foolish actress to turn it down!!!

Based on what I have read, CBS had planned to cancel Moonlight when they started firing the showrunner, writers & the creators of the show. By wanting Moonlight to become CSI type of show, CBS wanted to control & dictate the creativity of the show. As soon as the strike started, CBS never gave Moonlight a second chance!!

I really appreciate the fact that those writers, creators & showrunner gave us the Mick/Beth love story than going along with what CBS wanted.

The would-be second season sounded exciting & intriguing. I am sure the Mick/Beth storyline will continue in the second season as well. After all, the writers & producers all knew that the love story of Mick/Beth was the biggest draw for all of us fans.

As for Sophia's refusal to work in New York, that to me is too premature for fans to decide they should follow the show or not. After all, Moonlight needs a home right now. We as fans, should all focus our energy to write to USA, SCI-FI, FX, and CW to see if one of them will take Moonlight. We must bombard them with mails, e-mails & phone calls. Strike when it's hot.

Kandye, thank you again for this uplifting news. As always, news like that sure lifted up my hope & spirit. Keep them coming.

When my brother worked at CBS in L.A., I visited him a lot, and I loved it. I always wondered who could afford to live there, but when you're not paying for stuff it's a blast! I can totally understand not wanting to leave there for old-n-cold NYC - ugh! (I love Sophia as Beth, and can't imagine another actor playing Beth, just like I couldn't deal with a different Mick). There are ways to work around that, though, and she wouldn't necessarily have to permanently relocate to NYC if the show was to relocate. BTW, if the cast and creators are already discussing this, something must be looking promising!

I want Beth to be Sophia, but if Alex can go to NYC when his girlfriend has her own place out here in LA ( I think I heard that she does--don't know if that is where they are living together or not---could be wrong), and Jason lives with his wife out here; and both are willing to shoot in NYC, then Sophia, who recently said she didn't have a boyfriend out here and probably didn't have time to form many relationships because of her filming schedule, would be making much less of a sacrifice. I agree with Cobby and Anon. #2. In many jobs, and in her type of work especially, moving is just part of the deal. I need my Moonlight and will reluctantly give another Beth a try----the rest of the cast deserve our support no matter what Sophia does. Having said that, I sincerely hope Sophia changes her mind----or they stay in LA.

It's hard not to agree w/all of your comments regarding Sophia moving, or not to NYC, but I will agree w/Cobby & anonymous 3, Mick/Beth are Moonlight & ML w/out Sophia will be suicide....IMHO. If we remember the 1st pilot of Mick w/the 1st Beth...there was absolutely NO CHEMISTRY WHATSOEVER, so I have the feeling that's exactly what will happen if another Beth is brought in, again MHO!. I pray that Sophia will definitely reconsider if this decision ever come to pass and I doubt she'll be second guessing it. Keeping my fingers XXXX that someone will snatch our ML soon!!

I have to comment on one of the spoilers...the blood line connection with Beth and the Royal family...i always knew that there was more to Beth than just Micks love interest but the fact that they dont know if she can be turned or she would die if tried to be turned leads me to believe that if this were to be the case then Mick and Beth can never be together? I wonder how this would all pan out? Also the fact that Mick would have to fight either the vampires or humans is another obstacle, how do you choose between your own and the one you love? These are all interesting stories and i would love to see how they would all come to life on Moonlight....oh please bring Moonlight back...
need it back...quick...

I was at the MoonlightCon and when Harry spilled the beans on the Season 2 storyline we were all in awe.. Legions and vampires that sounds awesome. About Beth being of part of the Royal Bloodline line and being part of the cure, I always a feeling she did. This storyline is going to kickass, I can't wait to see how it all plays out and what Mick reaction will be.. It's going to put a whole new spin on their relationship.

I just hope Sophia changes her mind, because personally I cannot picture Mick with another woman other than Beth. Moonlight is Mick and Beth.

When Harry spoke about the show, he said CBS wanted Moonlight to become more like CSI-Los Angeles with Vampires,UGH!! how many more CSI can we have. He also said when Moonlight came about, is that the show was the love story between Mick and Beth, that was the main focus, and the rest was secondary, he said who gives a sh*t about crime of the week the focus was the love story.

I agree with him 100%.

I just hope Sophia will change her mind. The show will not be the same without Beth or vice versa, just saying.

Hi, there's been 3 vampire series on air recently, Blood Ties, True Blood & Moonlight - they ALL died the same death - ALL canceled prrematurely, & in ALL of them, the vampire didn't get the girl (human) they seeemed to love. How could Henry just walk out on someone whos life he savedd, & vice versa? You would think, that if he truly loved her, he would want to see her happy, in whatever choice she made, after all he did say he'd protect her from evil. How can he do that when he's in another town. Mick & Beth never get together either. Coraline keeps entering his life when she should have been end of that story. It would be highly unlikly for beth to have the royal bloodline/vamp cure, & just happen to be the little girl he rescued, & sort of love interesst when she's grown. That is not really realistic-it just sounds like someone is just trying to ccome up with another plot angle, the same with the vamps vs. humans thing, sort of like the vamps vs. the weres in Underworld. All of the pilots were good, when the vamp & human come to know & trust each other, then the romance is basically thrown out, in favor of strange & overly dramatic plots - The same thing happened to Charmed- when Cole was on the show, women were glued to their tvs, but when he left, most of the women viewers did too, and the show just died. why don't the networks realize romance is in - every show with the same plot -bad guy in plot- vamp & human conqure bad guy over & over in every show with the exception of a different bad guy- gets boring after a while - a plot where vamps & humans are aware of each other with a general acceptance in society, & the vamps could be used to dole out criminal punishments. vampire crime enforcers. even the vamp in Forever Knight-never really got that romantic with his human female partner either. why do they ALL end the same. Why is Twilight so succcesssful? because the vamp finally bonded romantically with his human female. At any rate, they are all a loss in my book, except Twilight-I don't even want to read the Blood Ties books because I heard Henry was written to be Bisexual & Vicky slept with both the cop & Henry. I honestly don't think a vampire who lived 400+ years through all kinds of social stringents could ever be Bi, unless he already was way back when, before he was turned, & it was totally unacsepted by society, especially in royalty. Not probable in my book. - why do networks even put stuff like this on, only to kill it quickly? in favor of stupid plotless shows that people could care less about. I thought ratings talked, I guess not.

I got an idea, Why not make the so called 'LEGIONS' be elves, (you know the lord of the ring ones) instead of boring humans. That will give 'the legions' an explanation as to why they've been around forever being WATCHERS. If you read any article or history about the watchers they mention these Elven beings.

I mean why do humans get to be watchers? it's so booring!. Elves on the other hand aren't. If you've seen 'Hellboy 2 the golden army' the elves were very powerful and justified. They could hire that actor that starred in hellboy as an elf 'prince nuada' as the starring on 'moonlight'.

Then vampires and elves can Fight for real! on TV just like in the games!!!!

BRING BACK MOONLIGHT!!!

THERE NNEEEEEDDS TO BE A SEASON 2!!!

Everytime I hear their plans - to get rid of Carl, Ryder and that Beth was of the Royal bloodline but couldn't be turned I am appalled. I mean seriously! Royal bloodline makes sense but why couldn;t she be turned? That makes no sense whatsoever! The rest of the Royal bloodline can be turned so why not Beth? And no Carl? Carl was great and belongs in the show. CBS was going to ruin the show I can just tell.

Enough time has passed please bring the show back. Look at all the other vampire shows that are hits.

BRING MOONLIGHT BACK I have watched the first season 4 times from start to end!!!

I would love a season 2 <3

Would still like a 2nd season of Moonlight and think that Alex O'Loughlin can pick up where he left off as Mick without any problems.

Maybe we the fans should do a pitch and get funding for either the start of a second season or a movie like veronica mars show that as some of you may or may not know was funded by the fans. So I'm sure if their fans can do it, we sure as heck can.

I would love moonlight to come back and also beth to become a vampire after all if she was turned beth and mick could be together forever x

I think the show should come back now. Even if it means Beth dies or something.

I watched the season in only 2 days. I'm loving it. But my heart is broken, because there is no second season. I don't need it on TV. A book or only a script of the second season would be enought for me. so pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaseeeeee!!!
WE ALL NEED MORE SEASONS !!!

Anonymous said...

Who will help me to fund the second season by the fans ???
I would give everything...

Can't get over that this show isn't coming back - I've been re-watching it 9 years later!!

It has been off the air for a few years now, I’ve watched the orginial series and now the reruns. The actors are all doing other things but I think a reboot of the show with the same characters will be a hit. Beth and Mick finially get together , maybe get married. Josef turns Simone and Talbot gets turned to save his life. I believe it’s worth a second try.

One episode away from finishing season 1 and I don't want to watch the last episode knowing it is the last... Unfortunately for some reason few TV shows off this type are lasting.. secret circle one season... Vampire diaries played a while.. originals (the spinoff) is on its 5th and final season.. yet supernatural just finished season 13 I believe... And theirs supposed to be a spin-off called wayward sisters... Other networks Freeform have done the same Stitchers not vampire related but definitely a cool show got two seasons .. Shadowhunters continues to struggle and is likely in it's last season and it has it all wolves witches and warlocks vamps angels etc. I don't understand why these shows get cancelled so quickly... It may take a few seasons for a TV show to get going these days... I'd love to see reality shows be pushed off the networks and they spend their money promoting something that is fairytale and mystical instead of people being famous for simply having a big butt and an excessive amount of drama... I could do that with my family the drama part anyway... Who cares about rich housewives.. how about if reality shows are going to be on maybe they make a reality show about something worthwhile like struggling single moms trying to make it and help the other single parents or there figure out ways to help make ends meet.. I'm one of those people and disabled.. just tired of the BS on TV when their could be good put into the world.. maybe a family with an autistic child to bring more awareness or cancer families and how to cope instead of decorating shows or shows glorifying drug use or teen pregnancy.. I have a teen mother whose my daughter I promise theirs nothing glorifying about it the struggles we've face together other than the miracle of my granddaughters birth... Let the rich stay rich they'll survive but regular everyday people need help and have issues in their lives that are definitely more interesting than fake boobs big butts makeup lines etc... I'd rather have my fantasy world than to have rich people lives shoved down my throat knowing their are more families like my own who share the struggles of daily life so people could relate to something real... Not sure if some share my sentiment but that's just my personal opinion... After 10 years it doesn't looking promising for a season 2 but then again a new version of Charmed is coming out and Roseanne was put back on air till she ran her big mouth.. Roseanne and married with children were shows I grew up on and I related to their life it mimiced my own in several different ways.. I'll keeping my fingers crossed as well that if we keep it up requesting another season it may happen... Good luck to all!!!!

Discovered this gem in 2017 and on third binge watch on time of commenting... There just aren't enough GOOD vampire shows! Even in 2019 there isn't all that much more. Moonlight for me I think is my personal favourite. Rest in peace.

Holoh fox said...

I think the actors are a bit too aged now for it to work even if they all somehow agreed to come back along with the writers. In a perfect world, we woulda had our season two, but alas.
