SPOILER ALERT ~ Moonlight season 2 spoilers from Harry

SPOILER ALERT!

We have all been wondering just what stories Moonlight would tell us if it has a second season. Harry Werksman (executive producer & writer) gave a bit of season 2 info to the fans. Thanks to Nikki @ Buzzwire & several friends at the convention, I'm sharing what he had to say with you.

As we heard previously, Moonlight's creators Trevor Munson & Ron Koslow were not with the show for the final 4 episodes. Harry confirms this :( They "were fired because CBS wanted the show to move more in the direction of "CSI vampire" (Harry's words). Ron and Trevor couldn't/wouldn't do that."

Of course, keep in mind that all storylines are subject to change as we have seen many times in the past.

WARNING ~ Spoilers ahead!

1 ~ Officially not returning/dead: Ryder, Lt. Carl, and Josef's Sleeping Beauty (Sarah Whitley). Harry said they are all done, though wouldn't reveal how they ended up gone.

2 ~ Josef's attorney & freshie, Simone Walker, was supposed to return in season two. However.... Abigail Spencer, the actress playing her, failed to mention she's pregnant. They're not sure what to do with that.

The Cleaner will also be featured more. Harry said the part was originally written with Claudia Black in mind, but she was pregnant at the time. They were very happy when she finally played the part in Moonlight's season finale, Sonata (episode #1x16).

This is a biggie! For months, we've all been discussing Beth having a rare blood type, "unwanted" link to Coraline & speculated about why she was selected to be kidnapped. Here is the answer.....

3 ~ Beth IS indeed part of the French Royal bloodline. She does hold the key to the cure, which is why she was kidnapped. Harry also said that because of this Beth CAN NOT be turned! Whether that means she can't because it wouldn't work, or because she would die was left up in the air.

Another thing we've been chatting about is who gave the list of vamp names to ADA Talbot. Some wondered if there was a group of "watchers" as you find in other genre shows & films.

4 ~ Season two was going to revolve around a group called "The Legion" who have been around forever. They are humans. THEY GAVE THE LIST TO TALBOT!!! They feel that the vampire population has gotten out of control in Los Angeles and needs to be reduced. The Legion basically declare war with the Vampires. Lance & Coraline return asking Mick to help. Basically, he now only has one choice - fight with the vampires or fight with the humans. Harry said total vampire apocalypse would indeed be the case. One planned scene was having the L.A. River at night FULL with 100s of Cleaners taking on the Legion army.

Harry Werksman discusses Moonlight's future and fans

Moonlight writer & executive producer, Harry Werksman, was a special guest at the convention in LA. He spoke of his gratitude for the amazing fans of the show :) The dvd we all can't wait to get should be out in September. When asked about the future of our show, Harry said that talks continue in an effort to bring it back for season 2. If all else fails, he plans on pitching the idea of doing a movie & hopes the studio might be interested. However, they are concentrating on trying to get the show back on tv right now.

He feels the same way we do ~ there is no Moonlight without Alex O'Loughlin! Also, Harry confirmed that Alex really was nude in his freezer in the B.C. episode (#1x06). Ooooooooooooo my!

Harry brought the 3 minute Moonlight trailer they are using to shop around our show. Everyone says it was wonderful and they can't imagine any network that sees it turning us down.

Also, Harry said that IF the Sci-Fi channel does become Moonlight's new home, our Vampires will move to New York City. This does not mean that Sci-Fi or any other network has picked up our show yet. Moonlight fans must keep contacting the tv networks urging them to see what a treasure they could have in our show.

Since Harry singled them out, we definitely need to continue writing, emailing and calling Sci-Fi!

11 Questions ~ AOL interviews Alex O'Loughlin & Jason Dohring

AOL Television has a great interview with Jason Dohring & Alex O'Loughlin. They discuss how hard it is not knowing if Moonlight will be picked up for a second season. Our boys have more glowing things to say about the Moonlight Blood Drive. Alex gives us some insight into the emotional & amazing scene of Josef re-turning (as Josef would say ~ ha!) Mick. When you read his comments about the "blood," you may think twice before drinking it. And.... wait until you read what Alex says about Mick & Beth's relationship. ;>

I like the strength in Alex's statement regarding Moonlight's behind the scenes drama ~ "We changed show runners again, and we survived again. It's a testament to the show and [to] how much of an entity unto itself it is. We're knocking it out of the park. We've got full great scripts and a whole second season pitched, so it's good."

They do talk a bit about future episodes, but it's only mildly spoilery.

11 Questions with Alex O'Loughlin & Jason Dohring

When devoted fans get a chance to interview two vampires, be sure to bring earplugs. 'Moonlight' hasn't been renewed for a second season yet, but stars Alex O'Loughlin and Jason Dohring got a thunderous welcome at NY Comic Con. After a Q&A with the rowdy crowd, they talked to AOL TV's Kelly Woo about the show's future, a bloody fan campaign and vampire therapy.

1. Has it been difficult to wait for word on the show's renewal?

Alex O'Loughlin : It's really hard, but that's my life, you know? You may or may not get fired. You kind of get used to it. I think that they will [renew]. I have to think that they'll pick us up, otherwise I'll just give up.

Jason Dohring : We were always on the bubble for ['Veronica Mars']. I'm a pro at being worried.

2. What's your reaction to fans donating blood to save the show?

Alex O'Loughlin : They came to me and [said], "We can make it happen if you can come on board." I was like, "Hell yeah! Absolutely!" So we shot a couple of [PSAs] on set. I'm really excited and really honored to be a part of it.

Jason Dohring : I heard that 4,000 people already signed up for it. If I can man up, I'll make it 4,001. Talk about a useful gift. It's not like signing a poster -- it's like, "Here, you want some life?"

3. At NY Comic Con, a clip revealed Josef turns Mick back into a vampire. What happens?

Alex O'Loughlin : Josef turns Mick back because Beth is in danger. As the result of that decision, he realizes that being a vampire isn't so bad.

Jason Dohring : It's a very emotional scene. We've hired a 30-piece orchestra to do the music. I was stirred up for an hour or two after I saw it and I'm not really that kind of person.

4. Was it weird to shoot such an intimate scene?

Alex O'Loughlin : It was intense. You've got to get over weird, when you shoot a show like this. As an actor, you have to get over yourself ... so you don't judge the characters you play or the scenarios you find yourself in. I'm forever finding my mouth on men's necks or wrists, and yes, it is bizarre, but I am used to it.

5. What else can we expect from the rest of the season?

Jason Dohring : In Episode 16, the vampires are all going to meet, from different walks of life -- a vampire conference. We all get together and talk about how we're going to deal with this and in what way each of us can deal with it through our position on the social spectrum.

6. Where is Mick and Beth's relationship going?

Alex O'Loughlin : They are ready to get it on. They've been dating long enough to get it on. It's about time, I think.

7. When is Josef going to kick some butt?

Jason Dohring : Next episode. We go off and kick some a** together. It's like 'Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid,' where we break through doors. There are some stunts in this one that are just awesome. There's this one thing that is 'Matrix'-inspired where there are two wires up to the top where my character and another guy meet up and cross together and come down. It's like really bada**.

8. Will we ever see Josef's 'Sleeping Beauty,' Sarah, again?

Jason Dohring : In Episode 16, you'll see a memorial being built for her and then there's possibly more love interest stuff that comes out with Josef. And [he and Mick] share emotional troubles so I guess it's like 'Oprah' but with 'Moonlight.' Vampire therapy.

9. What would you like the show to explore in the second season?

Alex O'Loughlin : I would really like to explore the blood lines and the royalty, the mythology of where [the vampires] actually come from. It's really fascinating and we have a lot more of that coming.

10. There have been so many behind-the-scenes changes. Is the show finally on steady ground?

Alex O'Loughlin : We changed show runners again, and we survived again. It's a testament to the show and [to] how much of an entity unto itself it is. We're knocking it out of the park. We've got full great scripts and a whole second season pitched, so it's good.

11. What does the blood taste like? And do you ever just do a shot of it?

Alex O'Loughlin : It tastes like a gauva and pomegranate. If you drink too much, you get a really bad stomachache and it makes you fart. A farty vampire. It's an interesting set.

UGO interviews Alex O'Loughlin

Underground Online has posted their new interview with Alex O'Loughlin. They met up with him at the NY Comic Con. Alex's description of Josef made me laugh out loud ~ Josef is like, "Dude, this is awesome. Let's bite some chicks. And spend some money." Not to mention, it is completely accurate!

They vaguely discuss a Mick & Josef scene from Fated to Pretend (episode #1x13), that some may consider kinda spoilery.

Alex O'Loughlin, Moonlight Interview
By Tod Emko

We met Alex O'Loughlin at New York Comic-Con and got the bite on his show Moonlight, Dracula, and the tastiness of chicks everywhere.

UGO: So did something attract you to the genre, or are you just a fantastic businessman who knew the show was going to blow up?

ALEX O'LOUGHLIN: Oh no, not at all. I mean I love the genre. So I had more passion. Also, I felt that Joel Silver being at the helm, it's easy to keep focused when you've got a guy like that doing what he does. He's efficient with time and he'll fight the fight, and he'll make sure everything's ok and the show stays on the air. So when you've got someone fighting as hard as he does at his end, at the top, every one of us will fight just as hard.

UGO: So if you're a big fan of the genre, do you geek out a lot? Are you a big vampire fan or a general scifi fan?

ALEX O'LOUGHLIN : No, I geek out about vampire stuff. I do love certain sci-fi, like I'm a big Blade Runner fan, you know I'm that level of sci-fi fan, that movie's just rad. Like, Tron is just awesome. I don't just lap it up. I mean, some of it's terrible. And, Star Wars is incredible. But yeah, I prefer the vampire genre moreso than any other supernatural thing. It's the king of supernatural. Vampires are raaaad.

UGO: Huh. Then what's your favorite vampire thing ever?

ALEX O'LOUGHLIN : Well, that's difficult because I mean, Nosferatu I have the utmost respect for, you know what I mean? But Bram Stoker's was just - Gary Oldman was, breathtakingly good. Then again, for boys, for the age I was when that came out, for what the film represented, that was really, really good. Then when I read the Anne Rice books, they were good as well, so it's all relative isn't it? I don't think I have one particular favorite, but I really liked the Anne Rice books, how she went and did it, how far she went with every character, so that's really helped me to give myself permission to go as far as I need to.

UGO: What do you like best about vampires then?

ALEX O'LOUGHLIN : Unbridled, unashamed passion and a lot of the sensuality of them. And the fact that they're so close to the animal kingdom. They're just like animals.

UGO: I'm getting the sense that in real life, if you someday became a vampire, you'd be like the Josef type of vampire, where you'd be like, "This is AWESOME being a vampire!" Rather than the Alex type of vampire.

ALEX O'LOUGHLIN : Yeah, I totally would, I'd totally be more like Josef. I'd be much more... hedonistic. [laughs] No, I think I'd just be more gregarious and more... I'd be better at it. You know what I mean? Than Mick. I don't think Mick is very good at being a vampire. I think he's kind of s*tty at it. And so reluctant, so nostalgic. Whereas Josef is like, "Dude, this is awesome. Let's bite some chicks. And spend some money." So yeah, I would be. I'm more of a lush.

UGO: So you'd like to take on more of the role of a vampire? Do more of the jumping and fighting on the show?

ALEX O'LOUGHLIN : Oh I do! I do all of that! I own my own harness, and I do a lot of my own stunts. I do a lot of my own wire works, a lot of the jumps, a lot of the fights.

UGO: Speaking of action, there's a scene between you and Josef that you know we have to address. I think you know which one it is (the one where Alex and Josef "share blood" in an intimate scene). Did you simply expect something like that to happen, this being a serious vampire drama?

ALEX O'LOUGHLIN : I think that scene, I think it's awesome, once you see it. It's on Friday night. Awesome. The thing with that scene is that I knew what was at stake since I read it, I knew how high the stakes were and how important that scene was, and how the drama and the choices were at an all-time high, you know what I mean? And that we had to really go for it, so I thought yeah, let's do it. And, we did. And I think the scene is fantastic. The on-screen chemistry between the two characters is truly powerful.

UGO: I see. Well, one question we have to ask everyone, is who do you think would win in a fight between a minotaur with a battle ax and a centaur with a crossbow.

ALEX O'LOUGHLIN : The minotaur. Because I feel like he could protect himself with the battle ax, and use it as a shield to an extent, and then getting close, and then it'd be all over. That battle ax would just tear through like butter.

Entertainment Weekly covers meeting Alex at the NY Comic Con

The lovely Mandi Bierly, at Entertainment Weekly's Pop Watch Blog, wrote a fab article about going to the NY Comic Con and meeting Alex O'Loughlin. Love her line about "Apparently, When you have an opportunity to be in the same room with Alex O'Loughlin, you take it is the second rule of journalism." Everyone is intoxicated just by being near the man. Fortunately, he uses his powers for good not evil.... hahaha!

Mandi's story is a nice little glimpse at how affable our Alex is to all who meet him. He "willingly" held the handmade sign she created for the photo above, and sent a greeting with it. We hear from Jason Dohring about how emotional a certain scene in Fated to Pretend (#1x13) made him. There is humor about he & Alex seeing the final cut of it tho. It is the same scene we read the boys joked about in a previous convention report. Reading this highlights again how lucky we are to have these amazing people creating our show!

Mandi also included a link to my little blog in her article. How nice is that? :)

Spoiler Alert!

'Moonlight' gets steamy(ier); I get star Alex O'Loughlin to pose for this hot photo!

Have you ever met a star that someone close to you just loves? And if so, did you find yourself asking that celebrity to do something for him or her?

Here's why I'm asking: In honor of Moonlight returning with the first of four new episodes on April 25 (CBS, 9 p.m. ET/PT), I suggested that I do one of my PopWatch Duels with Alex O'Loughlin, who plays Mick, and Jason Dohring, who plays Josef. (Look for it later this week.) When my colleague Michael Slezak found out that O'Loughlin and Dohring would be in town April 20 for New York Comic Con, he decided that I would be doing interviews for that Duel in person. (Apparently, When you have an opportunity to be in the same room with Alex O'Loughlin, you take it is the second rule of journalism. Right after, When you have a picture of a water-skiing squirrel, you run it. That one I read in Time Out New York once, and I vehemently concur.) So, yesterday, at the end of my chat with O'Loughlin, I asked him to pose for a photo — with a sign that I made for the occasion. (He, by the way, did so willingly. And told me to tell Slezak he said, "Hi.")

After the jump, some serious and STEAMY Moonlight spoilers.

• Ladies (and Slezak) really do love Alex O'Loughlin... O'Loughlin and Dohring participated in a panel to promote the show's return. When the moderator asked them to name their favorite episodes, O'Loughlin said he had "favorite scenes." Cue the suggestions from women in the crowd: "The shower scene! THE SHOWER SCENE!" (You know the one, with Shannyn Sossamon, who plays his ex Coraline.) When it came time for the official audience participation, 25 fans queued at a mike to ask a question — only one of them was male.

• But they do not like Coraline. The panel began with a 12-minute clip reel. O'Loughlin and Dohring noted that the loudest applause was for Beth (Sophia Myles) staking/stabbing Coraline — and that it was "such a shame" that Sossamon couldn't make it that day.

• I am, apparently, actually a gay man. When we last left Mick, he'd become human, albeit temporarily. In the April 25 episode, Beth is in danger — again — and Mick realizes he can't save her without his vampire power. He demands that Josef turn him back. The short clip shown, of Josef drinking from Mick's neck? Kinda hot, y'all. "It wasn't our intention to make the scene hot," O'Loughlin said, when I asked him about it after the panel. (Because you know that I did.) But it is to the show's advantage if we, the viewers, find it hot, right? "Sure, absolutely. What my intention is as an actor — as is Jason's, it's safe to say — is to make the scene true. In any dramatic scene you play on a show, you can't play 'hotness,' you can't play 'humor.' You've just got to go for the truth of the scene. And we did, and I think it kinda worked." According to Dohring, it hellaworked. "Dude, when you see the scene, I swear to god, I was emotional for an hour or two afterward. I'm not f---in' jokin'," he told me. "Usually, it doesn't hit me like that, or it's five or ten minutes. It's very f---in' moving, because we got a 30-piece orchestra for that scene and our director, David Barrett, kept telling these guys, 'Play like you're never gonna play again,' and these guys were, like, going crazy. That clip didn't do it justice. You'll see some f---in' amazing stuff." (Like them ending up on a table? But again, Dohring stresses that it wasn't their intention to make the scene "hot.") "The thing is, the dude's human, which is what he's wanted. It's the thing he's always bitchin' to me about: 'I want to be human.' And then he f---in' can't. It's like, here, I have to take from you the one thing that you want. That's f---ed up." (Or, what I call good television. And, of course, hot.)

• Mick and Beth may finally get it on. "I think that they are going to do that," O'Loughlin said, when an audience member asked if the pair will "seal the deal." Now whether he meant sometime during Season 1's final four episodes, or just eventually, he didn't say. I can tell you that one of the clips from an upcoming episode included a passionate kiss. Beth tells Mick that she's not the thing keeping them apart, and neither is his vampirism. It's him — he's afraid of getting hurt. She starts to walk away, and he grabs her. (You can hear the squeals, right?)

• The future of the show is still up in the air. There's been no pick up, but the rabid fan support (Moonlight Blood Drive!) gives O'Loughlin hope that there will be. He told me he's turned down film roles that would conflict with work on Moonlight's hypothetical second season. Dohring said they're filming the final episode of Season 1 now, and it includes a cliffhanger. "You see vampires from a bunch of different circles, all walks of life, meeting together to deal with a threat that comes on all of us..." What can you do, besides open a vein, if you want a Season 2? Tune in now, Dohring says. "I think the better we do [in the ratings] with these first two episodes, the better the chance we have." And, hey, if you haven't heard, this Friday's episode is gonna be hot.

Video ~ Alex, Jason and audience participation at NY Comic Con

Alex, Jason and audience participation! hehehe...

In this video from RoxyMadrid, the crowd at the Moonlight Panel during the NY Comic Con can be heard yelling out their favorite episodes and scenes. It all began when the moderator asked the actors what their fave episode is and they couldn't seem to pick one. Alex O'Loughlin & Jason Dohring are trying to field their questions and understand what they are saying. Fever (episode #1x04) was obviously shouted out cuz the video begins with Alex saying. "That was four, right?" They don't know the episodes by name like we do. Alex ~ "I can't remember. I'm only in it."

The fans mention liking Josef's "snark." Alex doesn't understand what they mean by that, so Jason & the group explain. Alex then understands and says "Oh yea, he's a smart ass." *grin*

At one point, Alex teasingly says "Shhhhhhhh!"

The audience members are also not shy about voicing their dislike for Coraline. Love the expression on Alex's face when the resounding chorus of yeahs respond to his asking if she really deserved a chair leg through the chestplate. Jason & Alex laugh and cringe at the audience's venom for her. Alex ~ "Such a shame Shannyn couldn't make it." When the highlight scenes where shown, Jason says they noticed the biggest cheer was for Coraline getting stabbed in the heart. Then, the boys inspect the chairs they are sitting on to make sure they are not stake worthy. hehehe....

Alex says, "I'm a little distracted." Too adorable!

Video of Alex O'Loughlin laughing ~ Moonlight Panel at NY Comic Con

RoxyMadrid's video is of Alex O'Loughlin at the Moonlight Panel of the New York Comic Con today. He's talking about being accident prone, when he is distracted by a baby making noise in the audience. I like this clip because it shows Alex's good natured side, which we know and love :) That laugh of his is just irresistible!

Major SPOILERS for Fated to Pretend (episode #1x13) from today's Moonlight Panel

Mariah posted this super cool, informative and spoilertastic report about today's Moonlight Panel at the NY Comic Con. The preview reel shown during the panel contained lots of huge spoilers for Fated to Pretend (episode #1x13)! We get to hear a bit more of the conversation we glimpsed in the EyeLab promo of Josef asking "you sealed the deal yet?"

I knew the new episodes were gonna be amazing.... but.... all these details are killing me! Can I make it to Friday?!?! *grin*

Alex admits to being both squeamish about blood (which is interesting for a guy who plays a vamp AND who says he would become one in real life if given the opportunity) and accident prone. Poor baby!

Jason and Alex are so handsome.... but Alex does look tired. I can only imagine how worn out he is from the grueling hours spent filming Moonlight, flying around the country to promote it, etc.

SPOILER ALERT

There is more context for the rooftop scene that apparently leads to the MickBeth kiss!

We get a longer version of Alex's answer to whether or not Mick & Beth will "seal the deal." From what he says, it doesn't happen in the first three of the new episodes which have already been shot. However, Alex thinks the sealing *wink* may take place in Sonata (episode #1x16).

Day Three: Moonlight Boys at Comic Con
by Mariah at Pop 'n' Fresh

The panel kicked off with a spoilery montage scenes from the last 12 episodes, scattered with bits from the next three (Episode 16 hasn't started filming yet).

Spoiler alert now folks, skip this bit if you want to stay virgin white for the next few episodes.

According to the footage, we've got several juicy bits to look forward to. For starters, the MickBeth romance is in full force. We got to see Mick genuinely ask Beth out on a date "Want to come over for dinner tonight?" what appears to be a a rooftop picnic with Beth and an overnight visit (with Mick heading up to the freezer and Beth downstairs) -- scenes in which Mick is apparently a vampire again -- and a confrontation between Mick and Beth during a rooftop picnic in which Beth calls Mick out on the fact that the thing keeping them apart isn't the vampire issue -- it's him.

But the biggest spoiler of all was a scene in which Mick tells Josef that he can't save Beth as a human and asks his friend to turn him. And, in a moment that will inspire slash fanfic around the world, Josef does. Laying flat out on a table. In a, um, slightly homoerotic fashion. But exciting and wonderful and tragic.

It was the first time the two had seen the finished scene. "The table moment is a little dubious," Alex said. "Jason, you're beautiful in the scene."

There's also a fast car chase with an unknown brunette (Mick has to remind himself that "I can't die, I can't die") and hints of a new nemesis, the new assistant district attorney (who suspects that Mick is not quite human).

And, for those who are busy lusting over a MickBeth hookup, check out this exchange between Josef and Mick:

J: "Vampires and humans can have sex, Mick, it's not about physiology."
M: "It's not about sex"
J: "Of course it's about sex. Everything's about sex."

M: I'm 58 years older than her i sleep in a freezer, I buy blood I buy from the morgue. I have this tendency to bite down."
J "Some women like that."
M: "It's complicated ... It's not the sex I'm worried about."

Spoiler alert over

There are some general spoilers within here, but mostly speculation and general notes. If you want to stay completely spoiler-free, um, stop reading.

Alex and Jason both would take the opportunity to become vampires. Tops on Alex's list of things he'd miss are Whole Foods (yum) and apples. Jason named "all that pleasureable stuff" and then his family (to the requisite awes and oohs of the audience), so Alex added that he'd miss his mom. Both drew inspiration for their characters from the Anne Rice novels. Jason sees vampires as cat-like, with a feline grace, while Alex has a snake-vibe going on (at least that's how Jason described it). "I was doing a lot of animal work with the character. I was looking at birds. ... I was looking at sparrows and finches and how they ... but it didn't work, so I did the snake thing." "Cool though, isn't it?" Jason said.

Alex is also a bit squeamish about blood, too, in part because he's accident-prone.

It was Kids Day at Comic Con, so there were plenty in the audience paraded up for the gentlemen to see. Tragically for all the Moonlightline.com and Moonlightfans.com, neither really has time to check the boards.

"I've never really had fans before ... And then to have like no fans and then Moonlight fans, it's quite a transition for me," Alex said. "I think the fact that we're still on the air is due to you guys, really."

Josef's lady love, Sara, will not be back this season, but Jason wasn't sure that the actress had been cast for a speaking role. There is a future storyline which involves her, though she won't be back by episode 16.

As for the main romance of the series, Alex truly believes that Mick and Beth will "seal the deal" "I think that they are going to do that. The thing is, we haven't shot 16 in its entirety and you know, I'm pretty sure they are going to but, yes I think they are going to."

Spoilers ~ Alex & Jason answer important fan questions during Moonlight Panel

Eric Goldman has written a good report of what happened at today's Moonlight Panel at the NY Comic Con. Of course, the wonderful fans in attendance asked the question we all have.... Will our show be picked up for a second season? Alex answers that we don't have a renewal order yet, but he sounds positive.

Josef memorably asks Mick, "You sealed the deal yet?" Check out Alex's answer to that question. :>

Major SPOILERS about how Mick becomes a vamp again in Fated to Pretend (episode #1x13)! So, read with caution if you don't wanna know.

NYCC 08: Moonlight - Vampires in New York
The stars talk about the possible future of the CBS series.
by Eric Goldman

April 20, 2008 - The Moonlight panel at New York Comic Con today certainly proved the enthusiasm the show's fans have for the vampire series, as there were frequent cheers and shrieks from those in attendance, who were clearly very excited to see stars Alex O'Loughlin ("Mick St. Jones") and Jason Dohring ("Josef") in person. "That was so awesome! I can't breathe!", one girl breathlessly exclaimed after the panel.

Moonlight returns with new episodes on April 25th, though not many details were given by the cast about the four episodes that will close out Season 1. However, O'Loughlin promised, "We've got some great shows coming up." Asked if Josef's relationship with Sarah will be brought back into the story, Dohring said he wasn't sure if Sarah herself would be seen again, but, "There is a future storyline where it comes up and I build her a memorial."

However, there were some notable new sequences included in a long clip reel that opened the panel (Spoilers follow). Not only was some big action shown, but also an important scene in which a newly human Mick tells Josef he wants to be made a vampire again. Josef says he's sorry, as he bites into Mick's neck, beginning his transformation back into a vampire.

Dohring of course starred on Veronica Mars and said that going from that show to Moonlight was interesting, noting Moonlight had, "A much broader audience, but still has an intense fandom." For his part, O'Loughlin said, "To have no fans and then Moonlight fans is quite a transition."

Moonlight has yet to be renewed for Season 2, though clearly the fans are hopeful it will be. O'Loughlin was asked by a fan what he thought the chances were, and he replied, "I really want to tell you that we've got the pickup, but we don't. What I think is that we have a really good show with a really dedicated cast and crew and the numbers are evident." Addressing how the writers' strike has affected the next TV season, he added, "It's not like we had a pilot season and the networks have a lot of choices this fall. I don't see why the network would pull the show. It wouldn't make logistic sense to me. Then again I don't run a network."

Another fan ended up asking if Mick and Beth (Sophia Myles) would finally, as she put it, "Seal the deal." To a great many joyous female cheers, he answered, "I think that they are going to do that."

Report from the Moonlight Panel at the NY Comic Con

A great report from the Moonlight panel at the NY Comic Con. Empress Eve, from Geeks of Doom's site, had never even heard of it until today. Read what she has to say about Moonlight fans. I am so proud!

Note ~ David Greenwalt is actually no longer with the show.

NYCC: ‘Moonlight’ Panel

Hey, do you guys know about a television show on CBS called Moonlight?

Because before today, I certainly didn’t. Then I saw the massive amounts of diehard fans of the show who were waiting to get into the IGN Theater at the New York Comic Con this morning, I figured I’d check out the Moonlight panel to see what all the fuse was about.

Let me start off by saying thanks to these fans of this supernatural vampire drama, most of whom can be found on the Moonlight Fans board, for educating me about the series before the event started. You guys certainly got my attention!

I also must mention that after sitting through panel after panel at the Con on Friday and Saturday, none of the fan reaction compares in intensity to the Moonlight crowd. It’s rivaled possibly only by The X-Files crowd, but it’s a too close to call.

As I mentioned before, I’ve never even heard of the show; I don’t know what it’s about, or who stars in it. Luckily, the panel began with a 12-minute clip of highlights from Moonlight, which gave me a good idea about the show, and I must admit, I liked what I saw.

And guess who’s in it? One Jason Dohring who played Logan on Veronica Mars. Awesome! He plays Josef Kostan, an over 400-year-old vampire who is the friend and mentor to the show’s star, newcomer Alex O’Loughlin.

Australian actor Alex O’Loughlin, who bares a striking resemblance to Hugh Jackman, stars as Mick St. John, a private investigator who was turned into a vampire by his bride Coraline on their wedding night over fifty years ago.

Also starring in the show is Sophia Myles (High School Confidential), as the human Beth Turner, an internet reporter who’s St. John’s love interest, and Shannyn Sossamon (One Missed Call) as Coraline Duvall, St. John’s former wife and creator.

In the clip, I noticed a few familiar faces in the supporting cast, too, and after doing some research on the show, I see that the executive producers are Joel Silver and David Greenwalt, co-creator of Angel.

Moonlight has yet to be picked up for a second season, and there’s still four more episodes for the first season to be aired starting April 25, 2008. Apparently, this series was a victim of the writers’ strike, so it’s uncertain if it will return. People from CBS were in attendance at the panel, so if they pay attention to the fans, I’d think the show will return.

But there’s always the chance that Moonlight might go the way of cult favorites like Firefly and Jericho. Thought, instead of 20 tons of peanuts, CBS might get gallons of blood.

By the way, most of the Q&A session involved questions like “What color are your eyes?” and the like, but for fans who couldn’t make it to the Con for this, there was one question everyone in attendance wanted to know the answer to: Will Mick and Beth coming to seal the deal?

O’Loughlin’s response: “I think that they are going to do that.”
