Debra, from TV Squad's website, has written an article detailing television shows that she misses since they were canceled. Moonlight is at the top of the list.

Recently canceled shows I mourn

There will always be Buffy, Angel, Quantum Leap and Magnum, P.I. on my "Oh Man I Want New Episodes of These Shows" list, but what about the more recently canceled shows of the past few years? Are there any worth mourning?
Maybe not in the same way I mourn my culty loves and classic '80s shows, but there are a few worth mentioning....
Moonlight
Yep, I know, I am one of Those People -- a fan of Moonlight. Though I agree it was weak when it returned after the writer's strike, there were lots of things to love about this show: the vampire lore, the episodic mysteries, the way they could have taken the love story (had they not muffed it up in the last four episodes), the actors (Jason Dohring and Alex O'Loughlin; not Sophia Myles). I can't believe that I won't find out more of the back story with Josef's family and Coraline.

I DON'T AGREE WITH ONE WORD OF HER STATEMENT. ESPECIALLY ABOUT THE LAST 4 EPISODES.
I get annoyed when so called fans talk about the negatives of the show.....it only reinforces those people and CrapBS ideas about the reasons why the show was cancelled. Along with the idea of not enough viewers and the fans only liked Alex and not the show.
I'm sick of reading the negatives!!
Not even in death can the true fans love their show in peace!!!
Not really a glowing review. Doesn't like Sophia and didn't like the last episodes. Not sure if this is really a positive for us. :-(
I think that this article points out something that we may have overlooked - understandably given our shock and misery at the cancellation - and that is the role the strike may have played in Moonlight's fate. The show was going from strength to strength (after what we all would admit was a weak start) when it hit the wall of prepared scripts prior to the strike. We were all so happy to see it back that I think we overlooked the weakness, lack of direction and general fuzziness around what had been developing as strong storylines before the strike stopped it dead. The remaining four were welcome, but they didn't deliver on the promise of the pre-strike episodes and I think this loss of momentum was probably a main cause of the non-renewal.
But boy, do I miss it!! I keep thinking that if it had been renewed our cast would be back on the lot and we would be only weeks away from more Moonlight. Oh boy, it really hurts, doesn't it?
The reason for the weakness in those last 4 episodes belongs on CBS's head. They wanted more procedural and less noir/romance. THEY screwed up the show by asking for it to go in a different direction. Blame CBS for everything...I do.
Yes, Wondergirl9847 - you are absolutely right. CBS didn't know what to do with it and screwed it up. I certainly do blame CBS for everything that happened with this promising show that should have had a bright future. I don't watch CBS anymore for anything and I don't even surf up to it (its the first channel on my cable list at #3) anymore.
Yes I think the last 4 episodes suffered from being purely stand-alone episodes. The first 6 of the series had the Mick/Beth getting to know them/romance story at the forefront, the next 6 were all about Coraline/The Cure. I think they needed a small 4 part story for the last 4 episodes. Sure we had the Mick/Beth romance but no-one was really sure in what direction that was going, Alex & Sophia included.
I now wished CBS had not brought back those last 4 episodes. I think before them they were willing to give it another season. However I think the direction of the show was still the downfall. They wanted more procedural, SP wanted more character driven drama, hence no more ML.
Yeah, to think we would have been receiving spoilers by now breaks my heart.
