E! Online's Watch with Kristin talks about Moonlight

You are wonderful Moonlight fans! All the voting and comments you have left for the Watch with Kristin polls I told you about are really paying off :) Kristin Dos Santos has written an article regarding Moonlight's upcoming episode ~ The Mortal Cure #1x12 ~ AND giving her thoughts about the possibility of Moonlight being renewed. I like what she has to say, so you know it is positive. *wink* Kristin has nice things to say about Alex O'Loughlin.... who doesn't?! She also gives a shout out to Moonlight's "incredibly devoted and vocal fan base!" That is you, my friends!!!

She includes a video of a red carpet interview with Alex from before Moonlight premiered. I remember watching it and thinking how adorable & down to earth he is. Since I had the pleasure of seeing Alex on The Shield, I was already a fan. However, if I hadn't been, this funny interview would have turned me into one. I'm glad she found the clip for us to enjoy again.

Moonlight Sets...but Just for Now!

Time flies! It seems like just yesterday I was talking to the adorable Alex O'Loughlin about CBS picking up Moonlight—a moment you can see above—and now we've reached the end of the first season, assuming the strike doesn't break, like, tomorrow.

The last ep completed, "The Mortal Cure," airs this Friday on CBS at 9 p.m., and it's the last chance for you would-be fans to get in on the action and (please, oh please) help to send off the series with a nice uptick in the ratings.

So, why should you watch? Well, I have three good reasons...

1. The fans are bat-poop crazy over this show, as evidenced by Moonlight's number two ranking in our TV Throwdown poll, which asked fans to vote for the best series of 2007.

2. Star Alex O'Loughlin is charming and likable and an all-around nice guy. See for yourself in the clip above!

3. This show is strangely addictive—just the sort of series you'll want to catch up on during these here strike-riddled times. You can do so by visiting iTunes or the show's official site at CBS.com to watch full-length episodes of the series.

As for you existing fans, you'll be happy to hear that this Friday's season finale episode will not disappoint. It features Mick and Coraline vamped out and vicious and more tears for poor brokenhearted Beth as she deals with a new crisis, even though she has yet to get over you-know-who's death last week.

Now, if this is the end of the first season, could there be a second season? Many of you have written me at tvdiva@eonline.com about this, concerned that CBS has yet to give the series a commitment. Now, that's true—I checked on this for you, and the official word is still that there's no word.

However, I can tell you I would be astonished if Moonlight didn't get a pickup. It's a relatively inexpensive show, and the ratings are respectable, but more important, it has you guys. Yes, you. Moonlight found an incredibly devoted and vocal fan base right out of the gate, and you can't buy that kind of passion with any amount of treasure.

Keep Moonlight at the top of Hey! Nielsen's rankings

We want Moonlight to stay at the top of the rankings on Hey! Nielsen. Let's keep writing opinions about our show & its amazing stars. It is fun and shows the Nielsen folks what a huge fan base Moonlight has online.

As I am writing this, our show is #1, Alex O'Loughlin #3, Jason Dohring #6, Sophia Myles #7 and Shannyn Sossamon #9 on the overall rankings chart. Over on the Top Personalities chart ~ Alex is #1, Jason #3, Sophia #4 and Shannyn #5. *cheer* You are doing a great job! Moonlight is the only show to have ALL of its stars on the ranking charts, along with the program itself.

Now, we just need to get Brian J White, Jordan Belfi, Tami Roman, Holly Valance, Nate Mooney, Kevin Weisman, Vanessa Lengies (who doesn't like Leni?), Wes Robinson, Alice Greczyn and anyone else who guest starred on our show onto the charts. hehehehe.....

TV Guide ~ Matt Roush gives his opinion about Moonlight being renewed

TV Guide's Matt Roush was questioned about which television shows he thinks will be picked up for a second season. He answered in his Ask Matt column. Of course.... I will post it below for you :) The yellow is my happy emphasis!

Hey, how 'bout telling all of us what your top five and bottom five new shows are, whether they've been canceled or not? In order if possible. Will Chuck make it into your top five list? Also, what new shows do you think will be around for a second season? If there is a second season — or any seasons left with this forever-strike, that is.

Matt Roush :

I'm assuming you're asking about new "fall season" network shows, as opposed to new shows of 2007 in general, in which case I'd probably flood the list with summer series like Mad Men, Damages and Burn Notice. Going by the criteria of new fall network series, the five new shows I've enjoyed most consistently would include (in order) Pushing Daisies, Chuck, Dirty Sexy Money, The Big Bang Theory and Gossip Girl. The list of five shows I most actively disliked would include (starting with the worst) Viva Laughlin, Big Shots, Cavemen, Bionic Woman and (because of how far it falls below expectations) Private Practice, which works my last nerve. Predicting renewals is tricky because of the strike, but I'd think most of the shows that got even a symbolic full-season pickup would have to be considered strong contenders to return for a second season. That list includes my above top five as well as Private Practice, Samantha Who?, Life, possibly Back to You, Women's Murder Club and, despite not having been picked up yet, Moonlight.

Matt Roush updates his opinion of Moonlight! :)

I have been reading Matt Roush's reviews and show information on TV Guide's website for years. He is always funny, which I like, informative and intelligent ~ which I also like. :) Normally, I agree with his assessments of shows. Until! When Moonlight first appeared, Matt was none too thrilled. However, he has since changed his opinion of our show. YEA! In his latest "Ask Matt" column, he had the following exchange........

I am going to preface my question by trying to establish a little street cred. My favorite shows include Veronica Mars, Friday Night Lights, Battlestar Galactica, The Sopranos and The Wire. While I have enjoyed new shows like Dirty Sexy Money and Chuck, there has been one show, to my big surprise, that has become my favorite: Moonlight. I know, the pilot was horrible. I originally checked it out to see alums from Veronica Mars and Alias, but I have stayed because of Alex O'Loughlin. I think he has created a really interesting, layered character, and the show's mythology and character development are really starting to take off. It's a fun guilty pleasure. It's not award-winning TV, but it's a lot of fun with a very charismatic lead. I think critics should give it a second chance. It's the first time I have watched anything on CBS in, like, 10 years. Any news on the prospects of this show given the strike?

First off, you don't have to justify your enjoyment of any TV show by listing your priors. It's OK to like Moonlight, and I've been enjoying it more and more by the week. Is it a classic? No. But is Alex O'Loughlin a classic leading man? Absolutely. And the show has grown exponentially more interesting since the "Fever" episode in the desert, when Beth saved Mick's life by letting him feed on her. (How long until she dumps her deadwood DA boyfriend?) I still feel the show is unbalanced by having no one in the supporting cast (including Sophia Myles, who's improving, but not enough) worthy of sharing the screen with O'Loughlin. But the cases have gotten kickier and more interesting, and now that Mick's presumed-dead ex-wife/vampire sire Coraline is finally back in the picture (hardly a surprise, since Shannyn Sossamon has been in the credits all along), things should really start getting interesting. As for Moonlight's future vis-à-vis the strike: Who knows? As in the earlier discussion about Pushing Daisies, I would think CBS should be encouraged enough by Moonlight's steady growth, creatively as well as among viewers, that it's not going to make another Jericho-style mistake and put a stake in this one too hastily. A long and premature hiatus is going to hurt a lot of shows, but Moonlight has cultivated a loyal enough fan base already that I can't imagine CBS won't be eager to feed their need once things get settled.

Of course, I believe that Sophia, Shannyn and Josef do an excellent job with their characters. However, I could not agree more with Matt's assessment of Alex! Thank you for being open minded and giving Moonlight another viewing, Matt. I'm really glad you did. :)
