SPOILER ~ My Recap of Moonlight's season finale ~ Sonata (episode #1x16)

SPOILER ALERT! This is my little recap of Moonlight's season finale ~ Sonata (episode #1x16)

I hope you will bear with me. I'm trying to write my usual episode recap, but I'm a bit upset.

First of all, I must say that I am soooooooooooooooooo glad the feared cliffhanger ending did not happen! When Jason mentioned that in an interview, he must have been referring to the list of Vampires that was mysteriously sent to ADA Talbot.

The producers said Moonlight fans would love the last scene. Very true! Often, fans of beloved, canceled shows are left with nothing but unanswered questions and unfinished storylines. I'm just grateful that we have some closure. However, IF we are fortunate enough to get our show back, they still have amazing stories to tell.

So sweet to see Josef funding a memorial for his Sleeping Beauty. Hearst College ~ funny!

We learn about the willing freshie world. Could Mick have been more uncomfortable when Beth asked how many he has enjoyed over the years?!

Mick and Beth's 4th actual date. I knew it was jinxed as soon as she said it's a date if a dead body is not involved.

Lots of jealousy tonight.... Josef & Simone, Mick & Beth, Emma & Jackson....

Talk about guilty looks as Beth walks in on Josef & Mick sampling Simone's blood. She is confused because feeding was a big deal in the moment she & Mick shared in the desert. Then, Mick says this was no big deal. Of course, there is a difference. Love! He does not have feelings for Simone.

I laughed out loud at this exchange. Beth asks Mick if he is ok after the scuffle during their visit to the frat house. Mick ~ "I got hit in the face with the sacred ass paddle." Beth ~ "Karma!" *grin*

Side note ~ Is being able to tell someone's blood type by taste a new power he has due to Josef's blood? Previously, he was surprised when Beth revealed her rare type.... even tho he had tasted it already.

Beth & Mick both observed the 150 year marriage that Emma & Jackson shared, yet had different perspectives of what that meant.

I chuckled when Jackson, being the gracious host, brought in the drinks. Blood for himself & Mick. Water for Beth.

As always, LOVED the scenes between Josef & Mick. Discussing his possible beyond freshie relationship with Simone... a human.... Josef ~ "Who doesn't like me? Did she say that?" hehehehehe

The gathering of the major vamps in LA. I smiled thinking that Logan got to meet Josef. Remember how envious he sounded about Mick knowing the richest & most powerful Vampyre?

When Jackson was allowed to have a final moment with Emma, I knew he would not leave her side.

Mick seeing their love led to the final scene between him & Beth. At first, he seems to be doing his usual routine. I had no doubts that he would go back to Beth.

"You want to know what Emma & Jackson made me realize? That you were right. You were right all along. This isn't about being a Vampire or a human. This is about us. How we feel about one another. Right here, right now!"

Their love also influences Beth. She asks Mick what she was wearing the night the met.... well... met again. ;> Of course, he knows. All he had to say was his response to her asking how he remembered. "Because, I love you."

Spoilers ~ Recap of Moonlight's What's Left Behind episode (#1x15)

SPOILER ALERT! My recap of Moonlight's What's Left Behind episode (#1x15)

I feel so sad for our boys.

This was a serious episode. A few light moments here and there, mostly courtesy of Josef as usual. Making Mick go couch shopping at 4 am. I snorted out loud when Mick asked if he should check the now infamous tar pits for Josef's fired designers.

When the detective tried to kick Mick out of the crime scene, Talbot stood up for him by saying all help is needed when a child is missing. I think he wants to be around Mick to check him out up close, since he is obviously investigating him.

Is that also why he offered Beth the job as a civilian investigator?

They brought back Erika Ringor as Detective Theresa Novak. Remember her from Fever (episode #1x04)? I like it when tv programs bring back characters. It adds a bit of realism.

Little Jacob Fordham is kidnapped. Bad memories for Beth. This also brings up bad memories for Mick.... in more ways than one. Not only reminding him of Beth's kidnapping, but of his history with the Fordham family.

Loved when Mick vamped & threatened the kid blood drinking Vampire, Leo. Dangerous! and sexy ;>

Of course, we already knew that Mick had been a medic in WWII. Tonight, we learned that his unit was stationed in Italy during the late summer of 1944.

Mick's best friend, Ray, is thought to be killed in action. The last thing he asked Mick to do was tell his wife, Lila, that he loved her and to take care of her. He tries to do just that. Both are grieving for Ray. They have that in common, plus years of close friendship. They end up taking comfort with each other, which often happens in these situations. However, Ray was not dead. When he returns, Mick simply disappeared from their lives. Can you imagine the guilt he must have felt? Still feels! We know how our Mick takes everything to heart.

This leads Mick to think that Jacob could be his grandson, and that the distraught father, Robert, may be his son.

I thought Beth was going to cry as Mick explained the story to her, especially when he admitted to loving Lila.

"See, I've sired plenty of vamps in my day, but no rugrats." One of Josef's only regrets about his Vampire life is that he can never have children. The look on Jason's face said it all. He can go from humor to a serious line like that with ease. And back to humor when he realizes Beth is standing there having overheard him say that Vampires can't have kids. "Hi Beth. Beth is here" Ooopppsss!

I agree with Beth. It is too early for having the kiddos conversation. They've only had one passionate kiss for goodness sake. Wow... that look Mick gives Beth when she says "We haven't even slept with each other yet. It may not be any good." He is too hot! If I were her.....

Beth had to know that Mick was not going to wait for the warrant before rushing to save Jacob.

Mick's eyes glowing in the dark! Super cool!

The DNA test proves that Robert is not Mick's son. "I didn't know how much I wanted a family until I almost had one." Alex's expression and voice did me in.

As I said at the beginning of this recap, I feel sad for Mick & Josef. Even though they could adopt sweet babies, then what would happen? Watch their children grow old and die? Turn them into vamps too? *sigh*

Spoiler ~ my recap of Moonlight's Click episode (#1x14)

SPOILER ALERT! My recap of Moonlight's Click episode (#1x14)

I was hoping that Mick's temporary humanity would give him a new appreciation for his Vampire life & power. He seems to be embracing life period. Putting himself out there, as he says. Mick has a facebook page!?!?

Was it just me, or did Alex seem extra magnetic last tonight?

Mick's mantra of "you can't die" while enduring Tierney's driving made me bust out laughing.

After all this time of Mick and Beth's romance being longing glances and hinted conversation, I'm still getting used to the openly dating thing.

Tension in those stares between ADA Talbot & Mick. Alpha males guarding their territory.

More Josef and Mick scenes please! Love the banter between our boys.... especially the scene when Mick goes to Josef's office and teasingly called him dad. "Step-sire" Too funny!

Not surprised that our adorable Josef dated Jean Harlow and apparently Garbo.

We were correct in our spoiler speculation that "Ann Booker" was the writer's code for Beth.

Speaking of the spoilers...... the scene where Mick & Beth run into each other on the Queen Mary was changed. The dialogue of "we had something once but it's over.... it's complicated" became "I think we're dating.... it's complicated." Beth's nod to meet outside was gone, etc.

As I wrote before when I posted a spoiler video for Click, the debate that has been churning over Mick's line in the pilot episode, "60 years is a long time to deny yourself the touch of another" is answered. Mick makes it very clear to Beth ( and us ) that he has not had sex with a human since becoming a Vampire... and that he has slept with a vamp.... vamps?

Mick leaning in for a kiss was soooo sexy, even tho it was interrupted.

Tierney didn't last very long.

Poor Mick ~ having someone murdered on his watch :(

A sleep over.... but not quite how Mick & Beth pictured her spending the night at his place.

Moonlight is about vamps who walk among us. We saw that in action with the too little tabloid photographers. Giggled when Mick said "The camera... lost boy!" A fave film of mine, and Alex too.

The actor playing Dean Foster did a great job of making him a scummy paparazzi for us to hate.

When he caught the killer, Mick had to control himself. He was on the verge of going Vampire on that guy. If I say that I really wanted Mick to vamp out, does that make me a bad person? ;>

I've always wondered how Mick was able to stay in LA this entire time without being discovered. When Beth asks what would happen to a vamp if outed, you see her heart sinking as Mick says it would require moving, changing identities & so on.

Of course, I knew Beth would go to Josef when Dean tried to blackmail her with his Mick photos & threatened to further investigate. And.... we all knew that Josef would take care of the problem! One of the reasons that I love him. Beth was well aware of what would happen if she went to Josef, but she stepped up to protect Mick.

Now, Josef & Beth have a shared secret that they are keeping from Mick.

Continuing the protection by quitting her BuzzWire job. She wouldn't have stayed there anyway with the new editor's trashy, unethical approach to journalism. Not that you can call what he does journalism.

Mick ~ "I suppose we're all Vampires in one form or another."

Totally not surprised that Talbot is investigating Mick.

Ooooooo..... before I forget.... Click on the photograph above of the delicious Alex O'Loughlin for a larger version of the image.

My recap of Moonlight's Fated to Pretend (episode #1x13)

SPOILER ALERT! This is my little recap of thoughts from tonight's Fated to Pretend (episode #1x13).

We have all discussed Beth wearing Josh's engagement ring to his funeral, her guilt & blaming Mick. Glad they addressed those issues at the beginning of this episode. Beth apologizes to Mick, which she should. She also says what we all did.... Josh wouldn't have wanted to be turned. She tells Mick she wouldn't have accepted Josh's marriage proposal because "there is someone else... and has been for a while." Hmmmmmm.... wonder who she means *grin*

Great humor tonight..... especially from our Josef and Logan. Jason Dohring & David Blue know how to put just the right spin on their lines.

As Beth pointed out, Mick was also much happier and showing off more of his sense of humor. Alex O'Loughlin is such a talented actor. Look at how he shared with us the difference between Vampire Mick and human Mick. Even his voiceover work was different. A lesser actor would not be up to the task.

Mick admits to Josef that he is in love with Beth. Josef is completely unsurprised. But.... Mick doesn't tell Beth that he loves her.

Poor Mo! And poor Beth. Yet another person close to her dies.

Eric Winter makes his entrance as the new ADA Benjamin Talbot. He is much, much hotter than Josh. We knew he wasn't gonna like Mick. You could feel the tension in the air.

Guillermo wasn't to thrilled about being stuck with that A+ he stocks up on for Mick. Jacob Vargas had much more of a presence in tonight's episode. He made the most of it ~ "starts with a V... you used to be one"

Loved the banter between Mick and Beth. When they broke into Maureen's place.... Beth ~ "Breaking and entering was more fun when you were a Vampire." I agree with her about the "sexy Vampire jumping thing."

The Logan scenes were soooooo funny! Mick and Beth walk in with the cat.... Logan ~ "Since you brought lunch." Mick figures out the key to Mo's encription is the cat's name, Travis.... Logan ~ "We shall never speak of this again."

Josef is part of a story Mo was working on due to a charity scam. Mick ~ "Josef probably murders ever day." *grin* Then, when they confront Josef he mentions his bodies ending up in the tar pits. I like the way he handles business! Mick wants to speak to the pr man in charge of the charity. Josef ~ "remember the tar pits" hahahahaha......

Or, when Josef says it's like "role playing without the leather."

I could quote practically the entire episode. Must stop!

Mick doesn't stop stepping up to save people just because he is human.... and could die himself. Look at him on that roof with Bonnie. He finds it exhilarating! Beth has a great line there ~ "I'm not used to worrying about you like this."

Bad vamp, Dr Anders, obviously has the ability to tell blood types. Comes in handy for his little biz of selling special ones. Incredibly icky when he licks Beth. Ewwwwww! Since Mick tasted her blood before but didn't realize her rare blood type, it seems that Moonlight vamps can have different powers. That is common in most vamp lore.

I completely understand why Jason Dohring was emotional for several hours after the scene where Josef turns Mick. Very well done! Jason & Alex do amazing work together. Vamping out to show his currently human friend Mick that he can not hope to take on a Vampire. The expression Alex gave when Mick admits to himself that he has to be a vamp to save Beth was heartbreakingly perfect. Who didn't get teary eyed during that scene as Josef says he would be taking something from Mick that he had always wanted... his returned humanity. "Forgive me!" He has heard for YEARS how much Mick hates being a vamp. Yet he has to be the one to take that away from his friend. At least, Mick makes the choice himself this time. I'm sure Josef will take comfort in that. As for the actual turning..... *swoon* Sensual does not even begin to cover it! If you didn't dream of being turned before, this scene surely changed your mind. I could not breath! HOT!

Mick willingly became a Vampire this time.... to save "my Beth."

LOVED the fight scene! My action girl heart is still beating fast over that. Our first time seeing Josef vamp out and fight. Plus, Mick relishing his powers. "It is SO on!"

Even tho Talbot was blindfolded, he could still hear the hissing and fighting going on around him. He knows that Mick came to their rescue. The same Mick that he thought was dead. You know he is not going to let this go.

Our final scene! I will say it again..... Moonlight gives its fans the best last act of any television show out there! Mick and Beth still had their rooftop picnic date despite him being a vamp again. He couldn't join her in eating, but did drink the wine. I'm glad Beth stood up for herself & their possible relationship.

That kiss.... Can you imagine Mick grabbing you, spinning you around and kissing you like that?! What am I saying, of course you can *wink* How romantic and sexy!

If I were Beth, there is no way NO WAY you could have gotten me to leave Mick like that.

Beth ~ "You may have forever, but I don't."

My recap of Moonlight's The Mortal Cure episode (#1x12)

Recap of SciFi's rebroadcast of Moonlight's The Mortal Cure (episode #1x12).

SPOILER ALERT!

Mick still tries to reach out to Beth. He is so sweet. I know she is grieving and feeling guilty because of her emotional affair with Mick, but I hated how cold she was to his attempt. "You did everything humanly possible."

I think Beth was quick to jump to the conclusion that Josh was having an affair with Celeste because it would assuage her own guilt. This is also an example of the story changing from the spoilers that come out. Originally, Celeste was written to be helping Josh investigate Mick and Vampyres. In the finished product, she morphed into his jeweler. Side note ~ did anyone else think that was pretty personal service? My jeweler doesn't meet me for dinner.

Laughed when Coraline's friend, Cynthia, and Mick are sniffing each other through the hotel room door.

Josef is back ~ and he forgot his shirt! YEA! Mmmmmm.... All the boys on Moonlight are so hunky. Josef was just trying to help Mick relieve some stress by offering him a willing freshie massage. :>

Beth finally comes to Mick. How tender did he sound when he said "Come here" to her. As usual, Alex O'Loughlin conveys so much with just two words, his expression and body language. No matter how Beth treated him or made him feel, he is instantly there for her.

She doesn't know what her answer would have been to Josh asking her to marry him. Accepting that may have been what allowed her to seek out Mick.

Mick wants to be human so badly. The look of hope & excitement on his face when Coraline gives him the "cure." We knew he hated being a vamp, but that look really brought it home. Human again, if only for a brief time, after 55 years. Can't even imagine!

I also laughed at the way Alex says his line "you ate food!" to Coraline.

Mick ~ You once told me you were giving me the greatest gift by turning me" Coraline ~ "That was a long time ago, Mick"
Mick ~ "Yea, but what's happened? Why this sudden interest in becoming mortal?"
Coraline ~ "I wanted to feel life again. And, maybe love can't exist without mortality."

Jason Butler Harner was scary good as Lance. I wouldn't want to be on his bad side!

Lance's hand immediately healed when burned. As I wrote previously, I think we now know how Coraline survived the fire.

"I think Beth is starting to like me. She didn't stab me this time" ~ Coraline. Hahaha.....

So, the Reign of Terror was actually a Vampire genocide. They definitely do not tell you everything in history books. We learn that the cure is indeed temporary and is linked to the French Revolution. The French royal family were all Vampires. During the Reign of Terror, they used the cure to pass as human & avoid being killed.

Coraline turned Mick without permission and then stole the "cure" for him ~ both brought on the family wrath. Lance is so invincible & he is the errand boy for whoever he's taking her to ~ yikes! I would not want to be Coraline. She surrendered to this scary fate in exchange for Lance not killing Mick.

While watching this, I wondered if a future episode might revolve around Mick trying to rescue Coraline.

A bit about Mick's fight scenes......... When Lance first corners Coraline at the lab, Mick is looking on. Instead of allowing Coraline to be taken, Mick intervenes... and is beaten badly by the much older & more powerful vamp. Later, he comes to her rescue again by fighting Lance WHILE HE IS HUMAN. Not good for our Mick. :( It is obvious that he is on the verge of being killed. Equally obvious is the fact that he knew he couldn't hope to defeat Lance as a mortal. However, Mick is not the kind of man who can stand by and watch even tho the odds are completely against him. I loved how he still staked Lance's sidekick with flair as a human!

Mick pigging out was priceless! Exactly what I would do in his place :) FOOD!

Why is Beth wearing Josh's engagement ring? Hopefully, it was just a sign of respect. If I were her, I would return it to his family since it was his grandmother's ring.

"Are you human?" Even with the pain, it feels amazing to Mick.

Mick tells Beth Coraline is gone ~ that it is over ~ and was never meant to be. Beth says she kinda knows what he means. Hmmmmm....

Spoiler ~ Recap of Moonlight's The Ringer episode (#1x07)

I am about to burst into my thoughts on tonight's Moonlight episode (The Ringer #1x07). If you haven't seen it, do not read any farther.

SPOILER ALERT!

At the start of the show, two firefighters were struggling to turn on a fire hydrant. I loved how Mick helped ~ casually turning it on with barely a flick of his wrist.

The build up to this Coraline focused episode was well worth it! Shannyn Sossamon is amazing as "Morgan" and Coraline. The mixture of the present along with 1950's flashbacks to when Mick fell for her was a good choice for the episode's structure.

Mick could not stay away from Coraline. Hurling a chair through her window because it stood in the way of him being with her. As I mentioned in the previous post, accompanied by a song that seems to be made for the scene (Kingdom by Dave Gahan). Chill bumps! Whoever selects the music for Moonlight deserves a raise. I hope they issue a soundtrack for the series.

Soooooooooooooo.... when The Ringer originally aired we were all debating.... does this mean that there is a "cure" for Vampirism? Mick and Josef could smell Morgan's humanity. Did Coraline become human again? Or, find a way to disguise her vampire scent? This is going to be good!

I was giddy when Josef and Mick went to work together. When they were about to break into the bad guy's house, Josef was obviously not happy about or used to the manual labor thing. "Can't we hire someone else to do this?" Rolling his eyes after Mick leaps to the roof ~ "Why don't you just let me in the door?" Ha! He was also a bit out of practice when it came to following Mick's jump.

We found out that Mick "killed" Coraline 22 years ago (1985). Josef was 4 years old in 1603. Looks great for his age. hehehe... Also, he knew Coraline for a 100 years before Mick. Interesting! He said she is capable of doing anything, which we know because of the whole Beth kidnapping thing.

Ooooo yea ~ Beth! I had almost forgotten about her. The dynamic between Mick and Coraline does not leave much room for others. Poor Beth! She was so jealous and couldn't hide it. I also liked that Mick told her he noticed. Funny how they both kept trying to convince everyone (and each other?) that they are 'just friends,' and protesting that she has a boyfriend.

Beth normally has Mick's undivided attention. When she was giving him details about her background check on Morgan, she reached out ~ placing her hand on his. Trying to regain that connection.

Since I am also addicted to New Orleans, I love that Coraline has a Fleur De Lis tattoo. Revealing it in the last scene! Excellent Cliffhanger!

Spoiler ~ Recap of Moonlight's 5th outing on the Sci-Fi Channel

SPOILER ALERT ~ My little recap of Moonlight's Arrested Development episode #1x05

Great voiceover tonight. It was very informative for us to hear what Mick was thinking during this episode.

Can you imagine being a teenager for eternity? Or, until a roller coaster chops off your head? No, thanks! I see why Mick felt for the teen vamp. Not only because he will never grow out of the awkwardness of puberty, but being turned without consent.

Love the look Mick gives the guy who pushed past him to get on the elevator.

Josh insisted that Beth get a blood test because of her "chain link fence" injury. Ha! That is a pretty good cover for a Vampire bite. The look on Mick's face when a blood test was mentioned & then Beth's instant denial about marrying Josh.... I felt bad for the guy.

Happy anniversary, Josh..... I'm headed to the morgue!

As he will again in Sleeping Beauty (episode #1x10), Josh tells Beth he saw the way she and Mick looked at each other.

Mick instantly knew that Beth was in the morgue. I like his line.... "No, the one hiding around the corner goes first."

Josef meets Beth! I love the looks exchanged between Mick, Beth and Josef. "Mick says you have a great voice." That little comment got Josef a different kind of look from Mick. When Beth says "Whatever you want" that definitely got the attention of all the boys. ;>

Rider got a pat on the back from Josef for his good work.

How good did Mick look on the boardwalk?!

Mick tried until the end to talk Mineo down. He is so sweet and wants to save everyone.

Mineo ~ "Have you ever loved someone completely, so that she was your whole world? You'd do anything she asked... anything at all. Have you ever loved someone that way? You forgot about yourself and all you thought about was her." Mick closes his eyes and thinks of Coraline, then answers ~ "Yes." Mineo ~ "See, I never have!" He has always been a sad, lonely & pimple ridden teenager. That would make me a bit angry too.

Our writers and stars do the best last scenes in the biz! I love the expression on Mick's face when Beth kisses him. On a typical show, the girl would probably apologize or break down after kissing the hunk. Not Beth.... she looked Mick right in the eye afterward and gave him a little smile.... THEN gave him another kiss. As always, Alex has the perfect facial expression for the moment. The smile Mick gives as the scene fades out says it all.

SPOILER ~ Recap of Moonlight's 4th outing on the SciFi Channel

Spoiler Alert for those who still haven't seen Moonlight's Fever episode (#1x04).... do not read my recap below.....

First off ~ Am I the only one who did not see the scene of Mick talking to Leni in the ladies room?!?! Either I blinked for too time, or it was cut out. That is an important scene. We see, again, the gentleman side of Mick as he tips his hat to the women coming out. It establishes his longing for the family & children he can never have as a Vampire. Also, if I were Leni, my knees would have buckled when Mick said to look into his eyes and then pledged to save her and the baby.

Back to your regularly scheduled recap :)

Fever is the episode that changed the mind of many television critics and reviewers who initially weren't so kind to Moonlight.

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT for anyone who has not seen all 16 of Season One's episodes...... It was bittersweet seeing Josh alive and well. We also saw the sweet relationship between him and Beth. The ease with which they teased each other. Beth saying she had to stick to the facts in her BuzzWire report about Josh's case because she was afraid she "would start babbling about how hot you are." Then, when Josh jokes that he might be cheating on her, she says "who would cheat on this?"

The desert is no place for our Vampire!

Who didn't want to rush to Mick's side to feed him and save his life?!? Or, just feed him anytime! *wink*

Beth and Josh went to Mick for help because our vamp is good at his job. And, he is a gracious host making coffee for his guests.

Love the touches of humor in Fever. Mick daydreaming that he had found a "vamp friendly vending machine." The humor also led to some of my favorite quotes.... Beth ~ "you're a delicate flower, Mick St John." Mick ~ "it's a giant thrill ride that never ends." Mick agreeing that he is indeed a delicate flower when Beth arrives to save him.

We watch Beth becoming more and more fascinated with Mick.

At this point, Beth had known Mick for a relatively short amount of time. I think she seems much more upset when she thinks Mick has been killed than when Josh actually dies. We do see her usual reaction of lashing out due to guilty feelings.

Those ice cubes were really fake... but give them a break... can you imagine what a continuity nightmare it would have been if they had used real ice.

Mick was willing to die rather than bite Leni. He has such honor.

I could write pages and pages after every episode about Alex O'Loughlin's outstanding performance. He makes it all so real and believable.

In the Dr. Feelgood episode (#1x03), Mick told Beth that he trusts her. Tonight on the verge of dying, he told Leni that he trusts Beth.

That bite scene.... Ooooooooo my! Beth offering her blood willingly. Did you notice her breathing?! :> Mick trying to get her to leave with Leni. Finally, giving in and allowing her to save his life again! Mick ~ "At some point, you're gonna have to stop me." Gave me goosebumps!

I enjoyed the way Mick broke through the door and simply snapped the annoying assassin's neck. So easy for him.

Another unforgettable final scene from Moonlight! I had to use photos of that last scene for my post. Mick leaning on one side of the door, Beth doing the same on the opposite side. Connected, yet separated. Underscored by the haunting melody of Into Dust by Mazzy Star. Perfect!

Recap ~ Moonlight's Out of the Past episode (#1x02)

SPOILER ALERT ~ Recap of Out of the Past ~ Episode #1x02 ~ airing on Sci-Fi Channel

Since we were introduced to Beth Turner and Mick St John in No Such Thing as Vampires (pilot episode #1x01), the writers were able to explore their budding relationship in this episode. Alex O'Loughlin is so into the character. Even when he is not speaking, his eyes and body language talk to us.

Lee Jay had great reference books. Everyone, including Beth and the assassin in Sleeping Beauty, assumes that the old stories of stakes killing vamps and such are true. However, Lee Jay knows that staking will only paralyze and silver is poison to Moonlight vamps.

If Mick told me that someone was trouble, I would believe him. He is so sincere when he says "Trust me."

How funny was the exchange between Mick and his former police pal, Bobby? "Hey... what's with these muscles? How you stayin so fit? "Uh you know... diet"

Mick looks sooooooo good at the book release party. :)

You have to really hate someone to bash your own head into a glass and then to shoot yourself. No escape for Mick in that restroom.... turning in circles... caged.

We learned more about Mick in the past. He calls himself "young and stupid." He sure gave Lee Jay a beating. Of course, that is when he thought violence solved everything.

Love the 80's flashback scene of Mick and Josef. "Red or White?" Duran Duran! I would like to see an entire episode about that time in their long lives.

Tough love from Josef.

Who did Mick go to for help? Beth!

Poor Josh! Beth calling out another man's name in her sleep had to hurt. He is a decent, cute and good guy..... just can't compete with Mick. Who could? He did the right thing and helped Mick.

I also like that Mick is a gentleman and thanked Josh.

Beth learning this early in the series that Mick is a Vampire has been the source of debate. Many people feel that it was too soon, or that she shouldn't have known until the final episode. I happen to like the fact that she already knows. Beth is an investigative reporter after all. She wouldn't be very good if she ignored the facts. When the hero has a secret identity, it has always bothered me that the love interest has to be blind to all the evidence piling up around them.

Another symptom of the love interest is the constant need to be rescued. Which is why I love the fact that Beth saved Mick this time! "I thought I told you to stay in the car." haha....

Alex was amazing in the last scene.... his breathing and voice. You could just feel Mick's pain. When he showed up at her apartment, he wanted to tell Beth that he was a vamp but couldn't. Now he was not only going to be forced to reveal himself, but had to do so while vamped out. Showing her the "monster" he believes himself to be.

Photograph ~ Mick St John (Alex O'Loughlin) in Moonlight's Out of the Past episode (#1x02) from the climactic scene when he reveals himself as a Vampire to Beth Turner. Click on the image above for a larger version of the picture.

Recap ~ No Such Thing as Vampires ~ Pilot Episode #1x01

Let's talk about Moonlight's pilot episode ~ No Such Thing as Vampires (#1x01).

SPOILER ALERT! If you STILL haven't seen the first episode of the series, do not read this post..... unless you want to know what happens :)

I enjoyed watching the pilot again! Reviewing it with the knowledge of what happens in future episodes made it especially interesting. We know that Moonlight just gets better and better every week.

Did you notice it is Beth's voice asking the questions during the "Interview with a Vampire" opening scene? Mick wants her to understand him. He is afraid she will see him as the monster that he perceives himself to be since being turned.

The first time we see Mick in his trusty freezer. YUM!

Marshall sighting! I like the show Alias, so it was nice to see Kevin Weisman pop up as Beth's camera guy. Just wish he had more to do. He had one of the lines that made me giggle. When Beth says, "I've become a news whore overnight." Steve replies, "Not overnight." ha!

When the handsome Lt Carl and Beth are talking at the crime scene, I wondered (again) just how well they know each other. They appear to be pretty familiar. Is that just from Beth's crime reporting? It is mentioned that this is her first on air story for BuzzWire, but she has obviously been writing articles for a while before making the move to being on camera.

I still want one of those cool iPhones.

Many of my favorite Josef quotes are from this episode. "Sooner or later your inner vampire is going to demand to be fed." <--- currently my profile phrase on MySpace. "What is it? Like... Non-fat, soy, Vegan blood?" "Vampire experts ~ beautiful! Now, we got the food mouthing off about the farmer." "Vampire solidarity ~ rah, rah, rah and all that." Better restrain myself or I will end up quoting every line that Jason Dohring utters.

Rudolf Martin plays Professor Christian Ellis. He thinks he is a vamp on our show, and he portrayed Dracula on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Beth smashing a vase over Mick's head and his emotionless "Ouch" makes me laugh every time. As does this exchange.... "How do I know you're not the killer? Well, because I'm not killing you. ......let's go with that cuz that's comforting..."

She is surprised that he knows who she is and all about BuzzWire.

I've mentioned this before.... this bit of dialogue between Beth and Mick gets me laughing too. "So, we're talking Vampires? You know, some people actually find them attractive. Really? Yea." Poor Mick! His "yea" sounds so deflated.

Leaving the funeral, Mick gets into his car. Beth places her hand on his to stop him & ask for the blood vial. He looks down at her hand on top of his for a split second. Alex is great with these little moments that tell you so much about Mick's feelings.

Mick is so smooth with the professor's wife. Imagine him showing up on your doorstep. Ooooo my....

The scene in which Mick confronts the professor, and he thinks he is schooling Mick in the ways of the Vampire is too amusing. "When most people hear the word Vampyre, they immediately conjure up an image of some undead monstrosity running around at night trying to drink human blood." With the perfect expression on his face, Mick says "hate that" under his breath. *chuckle* This scene also reminds me of one in Alex's film, Feed, in which he faces off with the cop.

Love the camera angle used when Mick closes the blinds in the professor's office.

Carl.... "Threesomes never end well" hehehe

Josef in Mick's loft when he returns is a cool scene. They play so well off each other. I will contain my desire to quote the whole thing. :)

Since I'm super into diners, Cadillac Jack's is my kinda place. Well.... except for the possibility of getting murdered by a crazy grad student thing.

Speaking of.... How come the creepy killer TA, Daniel, gets to use an accent but Alex O'Loughlin doesn't?!? *grin*

Adore how Mick is protective and concerned for Beth.

We got to see Mick vamp out several times in this episode. YEA! He easily manhandles the professor (priceless expression on his face when Mick transforms into a Vampire in front of him) and the killer.

Even though he is hurt during the car chase/crash, Mick wills himself to get up and run to save Beth. The silly killer thinks he has triumphed by stabbing Mick. That smug expression quickly changes to shock & fear as Mick stands again... and hurls him effortlessly!

During the flashback fight scene with Coraline, they are beating each other senseless. In the middle of it, for a brief moment they starting kissing! Then, back to fighting. Josef is correct in his assessment of their crazy love.

Throughout the episode, Beth is convinced that she has seen Mick before they "met" at the crime scene. After he rescues her from Daniel, she awakens on his couch. She says that he saved her when she was little. Mick dismisses the truth again by saying, "You got a really nasty bump on your head tonight."

Moonlight does ending scenes better than any other show. It all began with the one tonight. Beth hugs Mick in gratitude and he slowly puts his arms around her in return. Just the look on his face conveys the emotions.

There are some time line discrepancies, which we have talked about previously. Josef says Mick is 90 years old, but Mick tells Beth he is 85 in a future episode. When Mick holds out his hand to Beth at the end, the voice over states, "60 years is a long time to deny yourself the touch of another." However, he has only been a vamp since 1952. He was on & off with Coraline until she kidnapped Beth (and he thought he killed her) in 1985. Several things could explain these differences...... We have all rounded years up and/or down in telling a story. Or, exaggerated to make a point. There were sooo many behind the scenes changes before Moonlight ever even aired. Originally, Mick was supposed to meet & marry Coraline in the 1940's. None of this keeps me from loving the show ~ in case you hadn't noticed *wink*

SPOILER ~ Recap of Moonlight's season finale ~ Sonata (episode #1x16)

SPOILER ALERT! This is my little recap of Moonlight's season finale tonight ~ Sonata (episode #1x16)

Spoilers ~ Recap of tonight's episode ~ What's Left Behind (#1x15)

SPOILER ALERT! Recap of Moonlight's What's Left Behind episode (#1x15)

It is too early for the having kiddos conversation.

*sigh*

Spoiler ~ Recap of Moonlight's Click episode (#1x14)

SPOILER ALERT! My recap of Moonlight's Click episode (#1x14)

I was hoping that Mick's temporary humanity would give him a new appreciation for his Vampire life & power. He seems to be embracing life period. Putting himself out there, as he says. Mick has a facebook page!?!?

Was it just me, or did Alex seem extra magnetic tonight?

Click on the photo above of the delicious Alex O'Loughlin for a larger version of the image.
