Josef Wallpaper ~ Moonlight Returns on April 25th, 2008

Micksgirl24 asked for a Josef version of the "Moonlight Returns" wallpaper. I already had one in the works since I kinda like Jason Dohring! *wink*

Yes ~ CBS has changed Moonlight's return date to April 25th

Hi all...... I have been receiving tons of mail from people asking about Moonlight's return date. CBS has changed it from April 11th to April 25th. I know it is confusing & frustrating. After telling everyone that would listen and handing out flyers, I have to go back and let them know the date has changed. We just have to go with it! On the positive side ~ now Moonlight will air during the May sweeps :) It also gives us even more time to promote ourselves silly for our show!

CBS releases new Moonlight video ~ Rewind

CBS' Eyelab has created and released a new Moonlight video today. It is called Rewind. You guessed it... scenes are shown in reverse, which is a cool effect.

New info! Fresh episodes of Moonlight will begin airing on Friday, April 25th... not on the 11th as previously reported. However, CBS is still listing our show as returning on April 11th. This could mean that we will get reruns of the last episodes. Perhaps, the network will show Love Lasts Forever (episode #1x11) on the 11th and The Mortal Cure (episode #1x12) on the 18th. I think that would be a great lead up to the first new episode being broadcast on the 25th, especially for new viewers. Of course, I will let you know anything else I find out :)

Wallpaper ~ Mick St John finally returns on April 25th

A little Mick St John photo wallpaper reminder that we will get him back on Friday, April 25th! Counting down the days until Moonlight returns........ :)

TV Guide Poll ~ Which bubble show deserves another season?

TV Guide has posted a new poll question on their website..... Which "bubble" show deserves another season the most? Currently, Supernatural is in first place with 63%. Moonlight is second with 21%. Get over there and vote!

Thank you for my Moonlight gift! :)

When I checked my post office box today, a Moonlight gift was waiting for me! What a lovely surprise :) It was a nice change from the usual junk mail and bills. hahaha.... No return address, note or name was included tho. *pout* So, I am posting this generic thank you message to my secret admirer! THANKS :)

DarkRavyn's wonderful new video promoting Moonlight's April 25th return

I'm sure that you have all read the following statement that CBS released.....

“Thank you for watching Moonlight and for your incredible support of the series. We are excited that the series will be coming back in April with four new, original episodes. Like any new television series, a decision to renew for next season is largely based on how many viewers watch the program. We encourage you to tell your friends about the upcoming episodes and work with us to find more viewers for Moonlight.”

We have been promoting the series for them since day one! I'm jealous of the cool promos the UK's Living Channel have created to showcase Moonlight. Why doesn't CBS do anything like that here? I can't tell you how many people I have spoken to that have no idea our show is even on the air! They watch other shows on the network (like CSI) but have never seen a Moonlight commercial. *growl* I hope CBS will actually promote the four new episodes (beginning April 25th), especially since their decision obviously depends on those ratings.

Of course, we can not depend on CBS. We must continue to spread the word ourselves. DarkRavyn has created this wonderful fan video promo for the April 25th return of Moonlight! She uses some great scenes from the show. If I wasn't already addicted to the show, this video would make me wanna check it out :)

Alex O'Loughlin screen capture from Living's Moonlight interview promo

By popular demand...... This screen capture is from Alex O'Loughlin's interview promo made by the UK's Living channel. When I said that several people were gonna love the appearance Alex's tongue makes in the video, I had no idea how many emails I would receive about it. OK Ladies, here is your photo. Sorry, Alex ;)

New Sophia Myles interview in the UK's TV & Satellite Week

The UK magazine, TV & Satellite Week, has a new interview with Sophia Myles to promote Moonlight's premiere. She talks again about her hair getting the "Hollywood treatment." In a previous interview, she discussed having to get fake extensions because her hair wasn't right for an LA girl like Beth. It is a brief feature on Moonlight, but nice to see Sophia getting some love from her home audience.

Move over, Buffy ~ New Series

Sophia Myles is another Brit wowing America, in a new vampire drama

One of America's biggest recent hits comes to Living this week. Moonlight is a modern-day vampire drama and stars British actress Sophia Myles as internet reporter Beth Turner, who teams up wit Mick St John (Alex O'Loughlin), a private investigator who's secretly a vampire but who wants to use his powers for good. We caught up with Myles to find out more about the show...

What is your character like?

Beth is a reporter who covers hard-hitting, dangerous stuff. In the first episode, she meets Mick at the scene of a really horrific murder and there's some kind of connection. Viewers discover he saved her when she was a very young child, which makes for a very interesting, romantic story.

The show has been a big hit in the US. Why is it so popular?

The chemistry between Mick and Beth works really well. They develop a working partnership, like Mulder and Scully in The X Files. Every episode, you want them to get together.

Have you changed your look for the show?

My hair was given the whole Hollywood treatment. I was taken to this very expensive Beverly Hils salon. I looked like a scruffy dog going into one of those dog parlours, and when they'd finished, I was all clean.

The Brits seem to have taken over American TV lately.

Yeah, it's been an invasion. I'm thrilled that everyone's doing well. I've become very good friends with Anna Friel, who's out here doing Pushing Daisies.

This isn't your first vampire themed project. Are you a fan of the genre?

I've done Dracula on television with Marc Warren, and the Underworld movies. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of the genre, but as a storyteller, I'm interested in the whole immortality theme - an immortal falling in love with a mortal.

Moonlight airs on the UK's Living Channel on Tuesday nights at 10:00 PM

New interview with Alex O'Loughlin in Australia's Sunday Life Magazine

Alex's film, August Rush, just premiered in Australia. The Australian newspaper, Sun Herald, included a new article & interview with him in the Sunday Life magazine insert. What a sweet description he gives of his mom's reaction to his visits. Again, he mentions the crazed fan girls scaring him. Poor baby! ;> Our Lt Carl, Brian J White, is also briefly quoted. Even his co-stars recognize that Alex has that "It" factor denoting a star. CBS is soooo lucky to have snatched him up before anyone else. I hope they remember that when making their renewal decision in May.

Click on the scan above for a larger version. Note ~ according to Alex, he was born on August 24th in 1976, which would mean he's 31 years old.

Sunday Life Magazine

Profile ~ Alex O'Loughlin

Why he looks familiar :
Another NIDA graduate, class of 2000, O'Loughlin starred in 2004's The Oyster Farmer but got his break in the US as the star of Moonlight, a TV series about vampires, which aired on Channel Nine. "I've got a six-year contract [with Moonlight], so I just try to keep my head down. I don't wash dishes any more; that's the main thing."

Why you should care :
After the Moonlight pilot aired, producer Joel Silver realised the show wasn't up to scratch and replaced the entire cast - except O'Loughlin. "A lot of times you do a pilot... and you know if pieces aren't working. And I think they knew right away they had a star in Alex and they just rebuilt around him," said co-star Brian White.

Birthplace :
Born in Canberra but grew up in Sydney. "My parents divorced when I was two. From the age of 10, I went back and forth between the two cities."

Marital Status :
He's been dating Aussie singer and former Neighbours star Holly Valance for the past 18 months and says, "It's going strong."

Family ties :
"Mum's a musician. She plays piano and has a beautiful voice, so she understands the creative need." But that doesn't mean she misses her son any less now he's living in LA. "Mum lights up when she sees me. Her cheeks go pink - she's all over me, pulling my hair, pinching my cheeks." O'Loughlin also has a sister, 31, whom he describes as a "multi-talented volleyball player, gypsy chef."

Bitten young :
"I was in a school play when I was 10 and had fish sticks stuck up my nose and I was wearing these spectacles and making the audience laugh. I remember the rush and knew I loved it."

Surreal moment :
O'Loughlin was taking a break from filming on Moonlight on the Warner Brothers' lot one day when a cart full of sightseeing women laid eyes on him. "They started screaming at the top of their lungs - it scared the shit out of me."

The move to the US was tough :
"There was a whole year, in 2005, when I wasn't getting anywhere. I had to sell my stereo and a few other things. I got my motorbike stolen, it was miserable. I was sleeping on a mate's office floor questioning my talent - that was really difficult."

Home is where the work is :
"I love the Australian industry but it's a boutique industry - the US is where it is." And while O'Loughlin admits that's changing, he can't wait around. "If I want to buy a house, I'd have to stay in Australia making movies for a hundred years."

Career highlight :
Auditioning for Casino Royale. "The screen test for James Bond was a real 'pinch yourself' moment I'll never forget."

Inspiration :
"Daniel Day-Lewis is amazing. Ryan Gosling is also an incredible actor; he's also a friend of mine... well, an acquaintance."

Next :
August Rush, with Robin Williams, is out on Thursday.

Watch with Kristin discusses Moonlight being on the bubble

E! Online's Watch with Kristin has posted her opinion about Moonlight being on the bubble. She talks about other tv programs as well, but of course I concentrated on her Friday night info. Thank you to the sweet Kim for making sure I knew about this :)

Bubble Wrap: Faves That May Be in Danger

We hear you. And feel your pain.

Many of you have been writing in since the strike's end to ask about the fate of your favorite series this season—and beyond. And while the official word on most series won't be handed down until the new season is unveiled in New York City May 11-15 (mark your calendars!), we figure it's only fair to let you know what we're hearing about the current status of shows that are "on the bubble." So, click on to find out which shows are in trouble of cancellation...and how likely they are to be saved.

The crowd of angry villagers is gathering in Comments; the protest captains are handing out pitchforks and torches. And we storm the castle at midnight.

There's a Reason They Call It the Death Slot
• Friday Night Lights (NBC)
• Moonlight (CBS)
• Women's Murder Club (ABC)

If you weren't around for, say, The Tragedie of the Firefly Ship, by bard of the globe Joss Whedon, you might not have heard about this thing called the "death slot."

We fans use the term to refer to any and all shows that get scheduled on Friday nights, where they die a slow, sleepy death because everyone's out getting drunk or at least sleeping off the workweek and then receive a eulogy in the trades that sounds like, "Alas, poor show, we hardly knew ye..." It's a veritable tautology of television: If you get the death slot, you die.

As such, no one should be surprised that three Friday-at-9 p.m. shows are in trouble, namely America's best-ever reality show (Friday Night Lights; nothing else on television is more genuine); a cult-fave vampire detective show (Moonlight); and a smart, fast-talking girlie crime drama (Women's Murder Club). In the end, it's like Jessica Rabbit said, if she were a TV producer instead of a bombshell, "I'm not a flop, I'm just scheduled that way."

Message from Sophia Myles to Moonlight Fans

Here is a sweet thank you message that Sophia Myles sent to her fans. Maria posted it on her great site dedicated to our Beth Turner :)

Sophia Myles passed on this lovely quote about the comeback of ‘Moonlight’ - and addresses especially all the ‘Moonlight’ fans:

“Moonlight is getting ready to come back so fasten your seat belts! I believe that it is our passionate and ever growing fan base that has made it possible for us to tell more of this great story. My thanks to all Moonlight fans for their loyalty, support and seriously cool karma!” Love, Sophia Myles x x x

Matt Roush gives his opinion on CBS not yet renewing Moonlight

Matt Roush was asked for his opinion on Moonlight not yet being officially picked up for a second season. His answer confirms what we have been discussing. It appears that CBS is waiting to see what happens with our four new episodes (which begin airing April 11th, 2008). As we have been told when calling the network, the decision probably won't be announced until mid-May.

TV Guide ~ Ask Matt

Question :

As you can probably imagine, there's plenty of wailing and gnashing of teeth out here in Moonlight-land with CBS' list of 2008-'09 renewals published and no mention of Moonlight. The pickup of the four episodes for April gave us all cause for hope. Now we don't know what to think. What are your thoughts? — Lyn

Matt Roush :

If Moonlight were really dead, CBS wouldn't have gone to the expense of putting the show back into production for just four more episodes. I'd take that as a sign to be cautiously optimistic that if the spring episodes show the same creative growth and fan momentum that Moonlight was exhibiting when the strike kicked in, then CBS will have little choice but to renew it. But I doubt we'll know for sure until the actual Upfronts in May.

TV Guide Poll ~ What is tv's sexiest show?

TV Guide has posted a new question on their website..... What is tv's sexiest show? Come on! We all know that Moonlight easily wins that title. It is not possible to have Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles, Shannyn Sossamon, Brian J White and Jordan Belfi cast on your program and not be the sexiest program on the air :>

Video ~ Rally the fans to Save Our Vampire! Support Moonlight!

I have worked with the lovely & talented DarkRavyn on a new Moonlight fan video. Our hope is to rally even more fans to write, call and email CBS in support of the show. No one can watch these amazing Alex O'Loughlin scenes without being inspired, right? You know how I feel about vamped out Mick St John. *wink* Mick doesn't back down from a fight.... and neither do we! As usual, DarkRavyn did the most amazing editing job.

Please, pass on the news about this video. We need everyone to contact CBS daily until we get that second season renewal announcement Moonlight deserves. SAVE OUR VAMPIRE!

Thank you to our musical guru, DJ Timmy D, for suggesting the perfect song for this project ~ The Longest Road by Morgan Page (deadmau5 remix).

Update ~ No new showrunner for Moonlight per the Hollywood Reporter

Hollywood Reporter has an update regarding the departure of Moonlight's showrunner, Chip Johannessen. According to their information, our show will not hire anyone to replace him unless it is renewed for the Fall 2008/2009 season.

Silver, scribes take over 'Moonlight'
by Nellie Andreeva

Executive producer Joel Silver and the writing team of CBS' "Moonlight" collectively will shepherd the four additional episodes of the freshman drama as showrunner/executive producer Chip Johannessen has exited.

The vampire drama is not expected to name a new showrunner for the four-episode order but will do so if the series is picked up for a second season.

"Moonlight," which has shown promise on Fridays and was the only CBS freshman series kept on the air throughout the strike, has had its share of behind-the-scenes shuffles, including the summer departure of executive producer/showrunner David Greenwalt.

http://tinyurl.com/22azah

Chip Johannessen out as showrunner for Moonlight

Another behind the scenes change at Moonlight. Just a few minutes ago, TV Guide's Michael Ausiello reported that Chip Johannessen is no longer part of our crew. In addition to being an executive producer of the series, Chip also wrote two incredible episodes of Moonlight ~ Arrested Development (#1x05), which is consistently listed as a fan favorite, and The Mortal Cure (#1x12).

Ausiello Report ~ Exclusive: Moonlight Leader Slayed!

More backstage drama at Moonlight — and the timing couldn't be worse. I'm told that Chip Johannessen has been let go as show-runner just as the freshman drama is fighting for a second season. The search is on for a replacement.

This is the second major regime change for the cult fave; over the summer Johannessen replaced David Greenwalt, who vacated his post for health reasons.

The behind-the-scenes upheaval may explain why Moonlight was conspicuously absent from CBS' litany of renewals last week. It's unclear what impact this will have on the four post-strike episodes that the network just commissioned, which are slated to begin airing on April 11. But rest assured, when I know you'll know.

Keep It Dark on Friday Night to Support Moonlight!

Just a reminder..... We are planning to turn off our televisions on Friday nights, and watch Moonlight episodes on the official CBS website instead. The network decided to put our show on hiatus in order to air The Price is Right. The goal of the Keep It Dark campaign is to get huge numbers for the online episode. Hopefully, that will make CBS realize the ratings they are missing out on by not airing Moonlight. Wouldn't it be super cool if we caused their server to crash!??!? :>

This week ~ Friday, February 22nd ~ we will be watching the Fever episode (#1x04) together. Spread the word!

Video ~ The sharp dressed men of Moonlight!

A video featuring our boys.... Darn! ;> All of the men on Moonlight are gorgeous. Lilly has made a fan video for us that celebrates just how wonderful they look. She used great scenes of Mick, Josef, Lt Carl and Josh in the sexy clothes they wear on our show. Have I mentioned recently how much I adore the casting director?!?! Think about it.... they gave us Alex O'Loughlin, Brian J White, Jason Dohring and Jordan Belfi all on the same show! Oooooo my.....

I love how Lilly set the snippets from the show to the lines in the song, which is Sharp Dressed Man covered by Jo Dee Messina. When she used the footage of David Blue's Logan playing Guitar Hero to underscore the guitar solo in the song, I had to chuckle. Very creative!

New MickBeth Fan Video

A new MickBeth fan video for your enjoyment :) Purpldy has created a clip featuring the touching Mick and Beth scenes from Moonlight's The Mortal Cure episode (#1x12). The music is Heart doing a cover of Without You.

Save Our Vampire wallpaper for your computer :) The photo of Alex O'Loughlin in vamped out Mick St John mode is appropriate for our campaign. He is ready to fight.... and so are we! Plus, he looks too sexy! *wink* When we turn on our computers, this graphic will be a daily reminder of what we are fighting for..... and.... for us to work on getting Moonlight renewed for a second season. You can also use it for your MySpace layout, website and so on to remind others to contact CBS. We need to express our devotion. Support Moonlight by contacting talks shows and entertainment magazines

When calling the network, we are being told that CBS will make a decision about Moonlight's future in mid-May. It is obvious that they are waiting to see what happens with the four new episodes that will begin airing on April 11th. This gives us plenty of time to fight to save our show! We will work together to get Moonlight renewed for a second season :)

Fortunately, we are blessed with such a charismatic, good humored and interesting cast. We just need to get them booked on the talk show circuit and profiled in magazines. Think about it.... Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring, Brian J White & Shannyn Sossamon chatting and laughing with Ellen or Conan or Jay or any host. New fans will not be able to resist! Plus, I guess us old Moonlight fans wouldn't mind seeing them on tv too much. *wink*

This video ~ Behind the scenes on the set of Moonlight ~ is one I posted previously when our show first premiered. However, I felt it was appropriate to this post. I really like it because you get to see brief interviews with Alex, Jason and Sophia along with some behind the scenes footage.

Let's write, call and email all of these media outlets to promote the new Moonlight episodes. Get those ratings even higher by capturing fresh viewers!

Day Time Talk Shows

I have said from the beginning that having the entire cast interviewed together would be amazing. They have such wonderful chemistry! Oprah often chats with the entire cast from television programs and movies. Another thing to keep in mind is most of her producers are women. If they are not already in love with Alex, Jason & Brian, they soon will be when we bring our boys to their attention! *grin*

Australian fans ~ Sign petition asking Channel Nine to return Moonlight to their tv schedule

Since Australian television network Channel Nine took Moonlight off its ratings period schedule, the fans have been writing and calling to protest. One fan has started a petition to ask Channel 9 to put our show back on the air. Here is a link to the website so all wonderful Aussie fans can sign the petition......

Video ~ G4 visits the set of Moonlight ~ Talks with Alex O'Loughlin & Jason Dohring

When Moonlight's Sleeping Beauty episode (#1x10) was being filmed, G4's Attack the Show visited the set. This video shows Seth Selwyn getting to wander around Mick's office and Josef's apartment. Lucky! He also talks briefly with Alex O'Loughlin and Jason Dohring. I giggled at Jason saying "There's no stunt guy here, man" along with the look on his face.

Support Moonlight ~ Watch our show on CBS.com every Friday night

Thank you to Suzanne and Leeser for sharing this great idea!

While The Price Is Right is running on Friday nights, the plan is to go to www.cbs.com and to all watch the same episode of Moonlight with the intention of sending CBS a message. We do know that they pay attention to what we're watching on CBS.com, so it should be obvious that we're not watching the available "current" programming. Yes, this may crash their streaming video server, but they're still going to know which streaming vid made it all come crashing down.

Please spread this around to all the other Moonlight sites you can possibly think of during the next week. Let them know that this is a concerted effort and that we need to come together to make this all happen.

Video ~ UK Living's new interview with Moonlight's Alex O'Loughlin

This video is of the Living Channel's new online interview with Alex O'Loughlin. I know a few of you were having problems with their Moonlight website. Now, you can watch the wonderful Alex footage again and again right here. :) For a transcript of his interview, check my previous post.

Moonlight will debut in the UK next week! *cheer* Living Television network on Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 at 10:00 PM.

UK ~ Living's new video interview with Alex O'Loughlin

Living's website describes their new Alex video as "EXCLUSIVE interview with the very handsome Aussie actor, Alex O'Loughlin." I agree!

You know that I just had to get some screencap photos from the video. A couple of smile pictures.... Alex talking with his hands.... In two of my photographs, those manly hands & fingers are pointing to his mouth. Hmmmm....
is he subliminally trying to get us to look at his sexy lips. It couldn't just be my selective screen capturing, right? ;> He is too lush!

More fresh quality time with Alex O'Loughlin courtesy of UK's Living Channel. I am beginning to LOVE them! hahaha.... It just feels like soooooooooo long since we've had any new Alex moments. Living's new video interview with him is a welcome sighting. I could have done without the music tho. At times, it makes it difficult to hear his yummy Australian accented voice. I guess they thought the video needed some type of musical accompaniment... Wrong! Just Alex talking, please.

The interview begins with a little preview from Moonlight's pilot episode ~ No Such Thing as Vampires (#1x01). Then, it is on to the good stuff....... chatting with Alex! I know you will be completely surprised to hear that he is intelligent, lovely, compelling, charming, sexy, interesting, funny. His trademark smiles make several appearances. The thing that does surprise me is we don't hear the *THUD* of the interviewer hitting the floor. ;>

I will try to give you a little interview transcript here because he says many insightful things about our show. And, due to the aforementioned musical drown out at times. I really enjoy how Alex thinks and talks about each topic covered. You know he has answered the same questions time after time.... but he doesn't sound like it.

Alex O'Loughlin on Moonlight

Alex says ~ The show is about a Vampire private eye who... um... was made a Vampire against his will... in the early 50's... by the woman who he fell in love with and married, on their wedding night. And he has since fallen in love with a mortal girl who he is sort of destined not to be with.

My character Mick St John is... um... he's a reluctant Vampire and he's essentially a humanist trapped in this immortal body that needs human blood to survive every day. So he... uh... he's put a few things in place that fit with his moral code like, he doesn't feed from humans. He goes to the blood bank and gets blood from like a dealer at the blood bank. Then, he takes it home and keeps it in the fridge. He sleeps in a freezer. He doesn't sleep in a coffin.

He fought the instinct from the very beginning as well. His wife had to go and find him because she was his sire so... um... as his sire... and as a woman who was deeply in love with him, you know which is why she turned him because she wanted to be with him forever... she has to bring him food. She has to capture humans and take them to him because he won't eat. He lives a life of control, basic denial about the situation.

Wanting to be with Mick forever is the reason why I understand Coraline!

Mick is not an ordinary person, but he thinks of himself as an ordinary person... he doesn't think of himself as a super human. I mean he knows he's a Vampire obviously but he regards himself more human than monster. But he does have special powers.... all of his senses are much more heightened than they were... than ours are. He's much stronger than he used to be. He can leap like up onto buildings. He can scale walls. He's got some pretty cool super powers. And he um... he uses them for good... you know, I mean... Becoming a private investigator is something that has helped him deal with what he is because he's helping other people. And the other thing is, when he eradicates predators... and these bad people from the earth... in his mind he's getting further away from the predator that he actually is.

There's a lot of different reasons why people watch supernatural stuff. Because they invoke the imagination. Because they stimulate parts of the mind and imagination that are not necessarily stimulated on a daily basis... you know... in our 9 to 5 grind... we sort of plug along and do what we do. I mean, we turn on the tv and see these mythical creatures and figments of other people's imagination and also figments of age old mythologies from many, many different cultures... which Vampires go back thousands of years and so many different cultures. So, I mean, it just poses questions constantly.

Alex O'Loughlin on acting

I know several ladies ~ who shall remain nameless ~ who will scream out loud during this part because Alex's tongue makes a pointed appearance. *wink*

As an actor.... even when you work regularly as an actor, unless you're an A list actor, you've still gotta kick and scream to get a job.... You know, it's hard work. Of course, I wish for work to come my way for a long time. I don't know if I wish for the show to go on forever and ever. I think... I don't know... if it was 3 or 4 years feels about right for this show. The other thing is, I'm gonna get older... so unless... unless Joel Silver's gonna pay for my surgery and my hair implants and you know my boob job and that stuff you need... then....

Alex O'Loughlin on age

I'm really glad the 20's are over... but I don't want to get to the 40's too soon. I just wanna enjoy the 30's. So I think I'm probably about right..... sorta 30, 31, 32 would be about right.

Alex O'Loughlin on Bond
~ He talks about auditioning/screen testing for the part of James Bond

It was a great honor to be considered really. I thought they were pullin my chain when they asked me to go to London and screen test. Um... I think I did a good job. Look... I knew I wouldn't get the role. I'm too young. That was a couple of years ago still from there... so yea... I was too young and I don't know if I was right for the role. I presume something about me was right for the role or otherwise they wouldn't have brought me to London. And, I think Daniel [Craig] did a terrific job. I think he's a great Bond.

He thinks there was "something" about himself that made them bring him to England. I can tell him what that something is........... talent! You thought I was gonna say being flawlessly gorgeous, didn't you? ha! That too, of course. However, the thing about Alex is he has the pure acting ability to go along with the crazy good looks. With many hot actors, you just want them to stand there and be pretty cuz they ruin the image as soon as they open their mouth. Not Alex!

Why are a tv show's ratings important? Contact companies that advertise during Moonlight!

Why are a television show's ratings so important? I know you are shocked to hear that it is about making money. *grin* The network wants to sell commercial time to various companies. In order to do so, they need to be able to tell them that their message will be viewed by an enormous number of viewers..... who equal buyers. Next, the ratings are broken down into the coveted 18 to 49 age group. Those who fall in that demo are thought to be the ideal consumers with disposable income. As I am sure you know, the networks get their tv audience numbers from the Nielsen Ratings company. Unfortunately, it is a convoluted & hard to understand system of sample households, meters, diaries, surveys, Fast Nationals, Live Plus 7......

I hope that kinda made sense :) That is why we need to continue contacting the companies that advertise during Moonlight. We want them to know that they are reaching buyers by paying CBS to air commercials while our show is airing. Encourage them to stay with Moonlight when it returns again in April.

We've all been complaining about our viewership of Moonlight not counting because we don't have the Nielsen box. Please, continue to join me in sending feedback & postcards to CBS. Tell them that we watch our show every week, but don't count in the ratings since we are not Nielsen families!

This is a repost of the advertisers I was able to write down while watching the recent reruns of Fever (#1x04) and Arrested Development (#1x05) episodes.

Zap2it & Variety address Moonlight not being on CBS renewal list

Zap2it wrote about the television programs that have not received a second season pick up from CBS yet. Here is the information from their story ~

Among the shows that remain in limbo are beloved Monday comedy "How I Met Your Mother," slightly less beloved Monday comedy "Rules of Engagement," the James Wood drama "Shark," "The Unit" and cult vampire favorite "Moonlight." All of those shows (except possibly for "The Unit") are being brought back into production and will return in March and April for new episodes likely to determine their eventual fate. Presumably the network's schedule will still have room for several of those shows.

Also on uncertain footing is "Jericho," which was brought back from the dead after a fan campaign, but delivered middling returns in its Tuesday return. "Jericho" has finished shooting its mini-season, but six episodes have yet to air.

http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-cbsrenews11for200809,0,7341122.story

Variety has also published an article regarding the CBS press release detailing tv shows it has officially renewed. They have this to say about Moonlight not appearing on the list ~

Missing from the pickup list: critical fave laffer "How I Met Your Mother." Net hasn't yet determined the long-term fates of newcomers "Moonlight," "Cane" and "Welcome to the Captain," while "The Unit," "Shark," "Jericho," "Rules of Engagement" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine" also remain on the bubble.

This just confirms what we discussed previously. We need big, big ratings for the four new episodes of Moonlight that begin airing in April. I know that most of you are already contacting the network. Keep it up! While emails are great, remember that a landslide of snail mail is impressive. Even though it only takes a few short minutes and a stamp, it shows dedication to our show :)

CBS list of renewed tv programs DOES NOT include Moonlight!

CBS issued a press release today listing the television shows that they are renewing for the 2008/2009 season. Moonlight is not on the list! A few months ago, CEO Les Moonves mentioned that The Big Bang Theory & Moonlight were the freshman series that were "likely" to get a second season. Big Bang Theory is on the renewal list. :( This is the reason we can not let up in supporting our show. It is imperative that the four new episodes airing the rest of this season (beginning April 11th) have huge ratings. Continue writing and calling the network, media shows and magazines, keep Moonlight and our stars at the top of Hey! Nielsen. Above all.... spread the word!

One last thing......... please, remember to be polite and concise whether writing or actually speaking to someone at CBS. Threatening to not watch the network ever again or being rude won't get us what we are trying so hard to achieve. Moonlight fans are a great bunch so I don't think it will be a problem. :)

A MickBeth Valentine's Day fan video for you :)

PurpleHippie has created something special for love day. A new MickBeth fan video! I'm glad that it is in black and white. To me, b&w always adds intensity... not to mention, Alex O'Loughlin and Sophia Myles look really good in it! OK ~ so they look lovely in color too. *grin* The Moonlight scenes are chosen with care to add to the romantic mood. The song is My Valentine by Martina McBride.

Happy Valentine's Day :)

CBS announces new episodes of Moonlight beginning April 11th!!!

CBS issued a press release this morning announcing that Moonlight will return on April 11th, 2008!!!! *CHEER* We will get four new episodes (#1x13 to #1x16) beginning that Friday. No long wait until the Fall for more Mick St John, Beth Turner, Josef Konstantin, Lt Carl and the gang. How long will Mick be human? What will Beth do about that? ha! Will we see Coraline or a rescue? That is what I love about our show..... the story can go in a million different directions. The important thing is we will get Moonlight back :) I'm sooooooo excited! Keep spreading the word, my friends. We have to make sure those new episodes get big ratings, and we have plenty of promotion time. Let's be sure to also say "Thank You" to CBS :)

Moonlight Detective talks with Alex O'Loughlin

Melissa, from Moonlight Detective, has done a wonderful new interview with Alex O'Loughlin. I enjoy how candid and funny he always is in his chats. Humble as always, he congratulates the fans for Moonlight's People's Choice Award. He teases about Sophia bugging him on set. Talks about not being recognized and that it is not such a bad thing. I receive questions all the time about Mick St John's ring. Alex discusses it in this interview. He actually picked it out himself and fought for it. That is cool to know. Of course, he has some great things to say about Sophia Myles and Jason Dohring ~ how well they get along and so on. At the time of their talk, the news of Moonlight's April return was not yet known.

You can also listen to an audio version of the interview. Alex sounds so tired :(

ML-D: Hi Alex, my name is Melissa and I’m with Moonlight-Detective.com.

Alex O’Loughlin: Hi Melissa!

ML-D: It’s nice to talk to you.

Alex O’Loughlin: It’s nice to talk to you too.

ML-D: I understand you just got back in town, were you working on the UK launch of the series?

Alex O’Loughlin: Yeah, I was actually, I was in Australia for five weeks first of all, and I was seeing my family and stuff, but I was also doing all of the final installments of the voice over, and I did a lot of press for the Australia launch of the show over there. And then I came back to LA for 24 hours and went to, I’ve been in Europe for three weeks doing that stuff so…

ML-D: Wow, so a couple months of jet lag!

Alex O’Loughlin: Yeah, actually my body, my times are so, they’re completely upside down; thoroughly invert everything so I’m just getting back to normal.

ML-D: Well, how was the experience? Are you getting a lot of fan response overseas already?

Alex O’Loughlin: Not that much through Europe. I mean, in Australia I get a lot of fan response to a certain extent because I’m from there. A lot of those guys know my Aussie work as well, but in Europe not too much. I mean, some people know a movie or two that I’ve done but the show has not played there yet. Yeah, I’m still pretty normal there which is nice. I’m pretty anonymous everywhere, really. Whenever I go out I should wear a hat and glasses and stuff, but no ever really says anything to me.

ML-D: Is it one of those big floppy hats?

Alex O’Loughlin: I wear a lot of hats, like I wear a lot. I always have a lot of hats, and I really love hats. Like, I have floppy ones, I have, kind of, broad, full brimmed, I have baseball caps. I just like hats. I’m a hat guy. So, no one really recognizes me.

ML-D: I guess I can see where that would be nice to be incognito.

Alex O’Loughlin: Yeah, but like I said, it’s not like I’m meaning to be incognito. I’m like, I’ve always worn hats so it’s kinda cool just to roam around. I can’t really imagine what it would be like to have to be a celebrity, and I’m a celebrity. Not being able to leave the house without getting hassled by paparazzi and stuff like all the time. That’d be a bit of a nightmare I’d imagine.

ML-D: I would think it would be frustrating you know? You just wanted to go get some milk and…

Alex O’Loughlin: Right, right, however, it’s a glamorous problem that I don’t have so… (laughs)

ML-D: I don’t know whether to say I’m sorry or uh…

Alex O’Loughlin: Oh, I’d just say “moving on!” (laughs)

ML-D: Yup moving on! Well speaking of accessories, something that the fans have been talking about pretty much since the show premiered is Mick’s ring.

Alex O’Loughlin: Yeah.

ML-D: So I wanted to ask you about that. Do you know what the significance of the ring is?

Alex O’Loughlin: It’s the first thing I chose for Mick, for that character, and I chose that for him when we showed the pilot that didn’t air; the pilot with the original cast. It was, I wanted him to have a piece of jewelry that we could attach a time line to; that we could attach a storyline to, and that could be a piece of jewelry that was… cuz he’s quite a modern character, you know, I mean, he doesn’t dress in long velvet capes and… You know, I mean, he wears … he fits into contemporary society. He looks like any guy, you know? And I wanted him to have one piece one something that was from another time.

ML-D: Kind of a throwback?

Alex O’Loughlin: Yeah, and I know that he’s only, kind of, 90 years old himself, but you know, that ring comes from maybe when he went to Europe one time and he had an association with a six or seven hundred year old vampire and had a love affair with, or, you know, maybe he went to Prague, but it’s definitely from another time and it’s from another place and there’s a definite storyline attached to it that we haven’t sort of released yet and so hopefully you know… But it’s such a beautiful peace that I was looking for - I said, “I want him to have a ring,” and the guys were saying, like, the producers were asking me what I thought and I said, “Well, I don’t know.” And we were looking at the French symbols and we were looking at talking about the French origin of vampires and stuff which we start bringing into [episode 12] as well, and they brought in, you know, hundreds of different rings and I found that one, and I was like, “That’s the one! That’s the one I want.” And the producers were like, “No, no, no, it’s not right. It’s too…” And I was like - I really fought for it and I was like, “No, it’ll be good because…” And I sort of sold it, and it doesn’t actually have any religious iconography, or any fleur de lis, or anything specific on it. It’s just kind of got cool flower patterns, and there is a cross with diamonds, but it’s not like a crucifix, and so it’s… and it’s got that beautiful moonstone underneath, and so, yeah, it’s just a piece of jewelry that Mick wears on his right index finger, which is kind of unconventional as well. It’s not really a finger I associate ring wearing with, but I liked it, that’s different.

ML-D: It’s a pretty spectacular piece, and it sounds like you put a lot of thought into it. I do hope we get to see a storyline attached to it.

Alex O’Loughlin: Yeah, me too.

ML-D: Speaking of that, I don’t know if you have any information on this and you may not be able to say anything about this, but with the strike over, do you have any idea when you guys are coming back?

Alex O’Loughlin: No. [Editor’s note: CBS announced mere hours later that they are planning to order a handful of new episodes to air later this spring.]

ML-D: Nothing yet?

Alex O’Loughlin: No, nothing at all. I wish I had an idea but it’s very frustrating for all of us, but no one knows. But then again, you know, like CBS are reknowned for not saying anything, and are reknowned for dropping info at the last minute, and so I’m not worried. And whatever the case may be, I feel really proud of what we’ve done to date, and we created a show in the face of adversity that’s had three different show runners, two different casts…

ML-D: It’s really an amazing success story for it.

Alex O’Loughlin: Yeah, well, in the shadow of the biggest writers strike in 20 years, I mean, it’s like not only have we maintained serious numbers, we won a really important award and so it’s pretty great.

ML-D: Congratulations on the People’s Choice Award, by the way!

Alex O’Loughlin: Thank you! Listen, congratulations’s to you guys too, to all the fans. I mean, it’s not - I just happen to play Mick St. John. I mean, this is like - that award’s for all of us, you know.

ML-D: Yeah, well we did have a lot of fun organizing ourselves to vote, so we were pretty thrilled when you popped up on screen to say thank you.

Alex O’Loughlin: (laughs) Good!

ML-D: That was a banner day for the Moonlight fans.

Alex O’Loughlin: Awesome!

ML-D: I got to talk to Sophia a few weeks ago when [episodes] 12 and 13 were getting ready to come out, and she was telling us that someone should film you and she on the set, when you’re out of character, because you guys just have so much fun.

Alex O’Loughlin: Yeah, we have a lot of fun.

ML-D: Are we going to be seeing the “Alex and Sophia Show” on the extras on the DVD?

Alex O’Loughlin: Well, I’m not sure about that, you might - she has a lot more down time than I do, you gotta understand. (laughs) I work harder than she does.

ML-D: Oh, really!

Alex O’Loughlin: She’s got more time to come and annoy me, that I’m usually, like, telling her to go away cuz I gotta read the next draft, or the next script, or the next whatever.

ML-D: Right, because you’re more serious and more focused…

Alex O’Loughlin: But, what I do think would be interesting is if we just strapped a camera on Sophia and made “The Sophia Show”, and I could make a cameo appearance from time to time.

ML-D: That would be fantastic! I mean, talking to her on the phone, she sounds like a lot of fun.

Alex O’Loughlin: She’s a lot of fun. She’s a great girl, and she brings a lot straight away. I don’t know if it’s the Brit - Aussie thing or what it is, but you know, we laugh a lot, and we have similar sensibilities, and we have mutual friends as well, and yeah, so I mean, not to mention a great actor and, you know.

ML-D: Right, well you guys have amazing chemistry on screen. It’s nice to know that it’s off screen too.

Alex O’Loughlin: Yeah, no it’s very different off screen, you know. I mean the chemistry on screen is manufactured. Manufactured, I wonder if that’s the right word.

ML-D: A different set of circumstances?

Alex O’Loughlin: Well, it’s a different set of circumstances. We’re acting; we’re playing two characters, and the chemistry, a romantic chemistry, whereas off screen, we’re buddies you, know what I mean?

ML-D: Yeah, it’s her teasing you while you’re trying to focus. (laughs)

Alex O’Loughlin: Well, yeah, we have a relationship off screen, but it’s a platonic relationship that we have.

ML-D: Yeah, well it’s a lot of fun to watch you guys on screen.

Alex O’Loughlin: Cool!

ML-D: We also talked with Jason Dohring.

Alex O’Loughlin: Ah, lovely Jason!

ML-D: Yes, and he has so many nice things to say about you. I think you’re his hero.

Alex O’Loughlin: He’s such a great guy, he’s just, I feel really blessed working with these people, you know. Like, his family threw this Christmas party the likes I’ve never seen, and its just genuine, you know. They’re just genuinely wonderful people, and it’s such a pleasure to ah…when I see him on set, it’s like, YES! YES! And that’s rare, you know what I mean, it’s rare, rare, rare, rare. Especially in this industry, I mean, there’s so many f--kheads!

ML-D: To really like your coworkers, yeah, that is a blessing.

Alex O’Loughlin: You know? I mean there is! It’s a weird thing in acting, you know. I mean, we’re artists, but we deal with the human condition, which can involve emotion a lot, you know. And a lot of people get confused, a lot of people end up living this really introspective life. You can move into self obsession very quickly and very easily. You know, you need to constantly remind yourself it’s not about how you feel, it’s about how the audience feels. And it’s not about your emotions, it’s about the emotions of these characters, and so you are simply the device with which you deliver this character’s reality, or you bring life to this character and you become the mouthpiece for this character and whatever. And so, a lot of actors can be construed as self obsessed. Sort of vain and narcissistic, and Jason is just, like, the most other-centered person that you know. He’s always thinking about other people, he’s always, he’s so generous with his time. I’d work with him again in a heartbeat.

ML-D: I did want to ask you very quickly what else you’re working on. I know that you’ve got “Whiteout” coming up with Kate Beckensale.

Alex O’Loughlin: Yeah, I do. I know “Whiteout” is coming out this year sometime. I don’t know exactly when, you guys probably know more than me, but that should be a cool film. I haven’t seen a cut of it yet, but they’ve been working really hard on it. But yeah, it’s going to be fun. I’ve been going out on a couple of things and I’ve been approached on a couple of different films, because no one knows what’s going on with the tv show.

ML-D: Right.

Alex O’Loughlin: And of course, CBS is sort of still saying, “Well, we’re not comfortable with letting you just go and do something else,” which would suggest that Moonlight will be coming back, but then again I haven’t heard.

ML-D: Well I’m sure they’re not gonna want to let you go since you are…

Alex O’Loughlin: Well, yeah, one would presume that, but anyway, but I’m not actually officially attached to anything else. But there are a couple of things in the pipeline if Moonlight doesn’t go on this year, so. But because I’m not confirmed for anything, it would be silly for me to jinx myself.

ML-D: Sure, I can understand that. We’ll just have to keep our eyes open!

Alex O’Loughlin: There you go!

ML-D: For announcements of Alex, the movie star…

Alex O’Loughlin: And maybe your fingers crossed.

ML-D: Ok, we’ll do that too!

Alex O’Loughlin: Ok, thank you! (laughs)

ML-D: Well, thanks so much, I know you’ve got other things going on, so I just wanted to say thanks for talking to us.

Alex O’Loughlin: It was a pleasure, Melissa. Yeah, absolutely, thank you for your time.

TV Guide updates the status for possible production of Moonlight

Hi all.... Previously, I posted a list from TV Guide's Michael Ausiello of the rumors about if/when tv shows would go back into production after the writer's stike ended. At the time, he had written this about our show ~

Moonlight :
No new episodes expected until fall.

Now, the chart has been updated to say the following ~

Moonlight :
Could produce a handful of new episodes to air in April/May.

YEA! That is in line with the info I posted from Variety. Moonlight fans are doing a smashing job of contacting CBS to encourage bringing our show back now. Keep up the good work! :)

Watch with Kristin's open letter to CBS about Moonlight

Kristin Dos Santos, of E! Online's Watch with Kristin, has written an open letter to CBS about Moonlight.

Words of Advice to CBS: Don't Even Think About Canceling Moonlight

From: Kristin Dos Santos [tvdiva@eonline.com]
Date: Tue, 12 Feb 2008 10:37:30
To: CBS [powersthatbe@cbs.com]
Subject: Moonlight

Hey, CBS, what's up? Just wanted to send you a quick email and let you know that even though you haven't had any news for us lately about what's up with Moonlight, we're cool. Unless, of course, you do something stupid like cancel Moonlight, in which case we are both in a world of pain like you would not believe.

Not sure if you've been informed way up there where the powers that be live, but Moonlight fans are crazy. And I mean that in the best possible way, because (a) I am one of them, and (b) crazy fans are my bread and butter. In case no one has told you, we fan types are seriously, seriously obsessed with Mick and Beth, not to mention that beyotch Coraline, and, oh yeah, Josef, who is played by one Jason Dohring—and nobody's even over the cancellation of Veronica Mars yet—so, for the love of all things unholy, if you take him away from us again...Well, let's just say the Moonlight fans will make the Jericho fans look like uncaring dweebs.

Anyway, if you could maybe reassure us all sometime in the next week that we're getting more Moonlight, that would be super. Thanks so much.

Love,
KDS

P.S.: See all those fans who've commented below? That's what I'm talkin' 'bout.

Australia ~ Who Spotlight Interview with Alex O'Loughlin

Annette Dasey has written a new piece, for Who Spotlight, that is part article and part interview with our Alex O'Loughlin. We already know the information, but every interview is worded differently ~ including one curse word in this one, that is not spelled out. *grin* Plus, we could never grow tired of Alex!

The magazine is featuring him because his film, August Rush, will have its Australian premiere on February 21st, 2008. I'm glad they published an Alex article to promote the movie.... and him :)

Click on the image above for a larger version. What a cute photo of Alex and Holly! I will also type out the interview for you here to make it easier to read.

Alex O'Loughlin ~ Holly's hottie steps up with two racy new roles
by Annette Dasey

Until a year ago, actor Alex O'Loughlin was, by his own admission, such a nobody in Los Angeles that he "couldn't get arrested." Living on baked beans and building work since arriving in 2005, his luck changed a year later when he met a certain starlet.

"I was helping a friend with a pergola and Holly [Valance] came over - they were mates," says ex-Sydneysider O'Loughlin, who is best known here for the 2004 film Oyster Farmer and 2005 miniseries The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant. "I was like, `She's so hot,` but she played it really cool. As it turned out, she was more of a fan than she let on."

The pair shacked up in Hollywood, where O'Loughlin was known for losing the James Bond role to Daniel Craig - "How gutted was I? I didn't think I was going to get it. It was a f--ing fantastic experience. I've held the gun!" - and (erroneous) reports that he is the son of AC/DC rocker Bon Scott. "My dad didn't care [about the rumours] but my mum was upset," says the 31 year old, whose father is a physics teacher and mother a nurse. "Being viewed as a charlatan worried her."

Then he landed a part in TV crime series The Shield and a supporting role in August Rush, a magical drama (opening on Feb. 21) starring Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Robin Williams, about an orphan who is sure his parents are alive. O'Loughlin, whose son Saxon, 10, is in Australia, and Rhys Meyers shared an apartment in New York while making the movie. "We'd work out and see bands," says O'Loughlin.

Nabbing the lead in vampire TV series Moonlight means O'Loughlin has less time with Holly : "We'd prefer to be together more. You want to be with someone you love, but you adapt."

Photo captions ~

O'Loughlin's ability to empathise with other people and roles is "quite astounding," says Tony Knight, NIDA's head of acting.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers (left) and O'Loughlin play brothers in August Rush.

Variety is reporting that Moonlight will be part of the CBS Spring schedule

We may have good news finally! Until now, all the tv critics and columnists have been saying that we will get no more Moonlight in the line-up until this Fall. This evening, Variety's Josef Adalian (I like the way he spells his name *wink*) & Michael Schneider are reporting that CBS will include Moonlight in their schedule to finish this strike altered season! The yellow highlights are my emphasis. Read on.......

TV shows start to learn their fate
Networks plot post-strike schedules

As showrunners flip on the lights and scribes once again occupy long-abandoned writers' rooms, network and studio execs are still figuring out what lives, what dies -- and when it all comes back.

ABC got the ball rolling Monday, renewing nine series for fall in a post-strike pickup binge.

The renewals were essentially no-brainers, encompassing some of the Alphabet web's top-rated scripted performers. Frosh series scoring orders include "Dirty Sexy Money," "Private Practice," "Pushing Daisies" and "Samantha Who?" All four have received 13-episode pickups, as is standard practice among frosh skeins.

ABC staples earning another year include "Brothers & Sisters," "Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy," "Lost" and "Ugly Betty." Most of those received complete 22-episode orders (with some exceptions -- "Lost," for example, was originally slated to produce 16 episodes next year but may produce a few more if a full 16 aren't shot this year).

Several other networks are planning announcements in the next few days spelling out their spring and fall plans.

Network strategists have already worked out templates on how to handle remaining back-nine orders on returning shows: Some have been truncated, some scratched altogether -- and a few skeins will still be asked to deliver that entire full-season order.

But now, of course, the nets will finally be able to sit down with showrunners and writers to see what's doable in the few remaining months of the season.

CBS

Dramas moving forward include all three editions of the "CSI" franchise, "NCIS," "Without a Trace," "Cold Case," "Numbers," "Criminal Minds," "Ghost Whisperer" and "Moonlight
."

Laffers given a greenlight are "Two and a Half Men," "How I Met Your Mother" and "The Big Bang Theory."

Net is hoping to crank out eight segs of its comedies and six or seven segs of each of its dramas. Newcomer "Moonlight" will likely produce fewer segs.

Eye insiders are hoping to begin rolling out new episodes of the comedies by mid-March, while the hope is to have dramas begin popping up the first week in April.

While CBS isn't expected to finalize decisions until Wednesday at the earliest, a couple of shows are likely to stay out of production for now.

So far, CBS hasn't asked for more episodes of dramas "Shark" or "The Unit." Both shows are on the bubble for a return next fall.

CBS has told the producers of newcomer "Cane," meanwhile, that no more episodes will be produced this season. Skein remains a contender for renewal next season, however.

Also up in the air: midseason drama "Swingtown," which had been set to bow in the spring. CBS has produced only a couple of episodes of the show and is now undecided as to whether it will move forward with the project, which offers a vast departure from the Eye's usual crimetime fare.

CBS is also waiting to see more numbers for "The New Adventures of Old Christine" before deciding whether to expand its current midseason run. There's also no word yet on the future of "Rules of Engagement," which has done well when it aired on the net.

It's possible CBS will air originals of a few of its shows as late as June, but so far, no scheduling decisions have been locked in.

Video ~ The Living Channel's promo for Moonlight with NEW footage of Alex O'Loughlin as Mick St John

We have been in need of a fresh Alex O'Loughlin and Mick St John fix. Thanks to Living's marvelous new promo for Moonlight, we have got it! As you know, our show is about to debut in the UK. To hype it.... Living has created a commercial with delicious footage of Alex shot just for their ad. He looks so sensuous, strong and gorgeous! See for yourself with the advert video above.

Mick ~ "You want to know the truth about me? Well, the truth can be dangerous. The truth can get you killed. The truth can destroy us. Once you know what I am... there's no going back."

I don't wanna go back, Mick! ;> The production team did an excellent job of capturing the appeal of our Alex in just 38 seconds. The way it ends with his Vampire eyes staring out at us through the Living logo is fantastic. I can not imagine anyone who watches this on British television being able to resist watching Moonlight, can you?!? We need ads like this here too!

Per the information Kristy provided.... The promo was directed by Kristy Dawkins and Alun Constable. Alex was filmed in an abandoned mill in London's Docklands. The cool atmosphere was shot by Andy Boulter. Calum MacDirmaid provided the great graphics.

Moonlight premieres in the UK on the Living television network ~ Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 at 10:00 PM.

UK's Living Channel issues press release for Moonlight

Virgin Media and its Living television network have issued the following press release regarding Moonlight, which they will premiere in England on Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 at 10:00 PM. I'm happy to see how positive they are about our show. They include a great shout out to the loyal Moonlight fans that support the program here in the States ~ “The show has an extremely devoted following in the US, and we believe we can replicate that success in the UK.” I hope Moonlight is embraced by the UK viewers and receives big ratings. :)

Living sinks its teeth into vampire drama Moonlight, Via agreement with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution

London January 24 2008 Virgin Media Television owned television channel LIVING has acquired brand new supernatural thriller Moonlight from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution for its Q1 2008 schedule, it was announced today by Amy Barham, Head of Acquisitions, Virgin Media Television; Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. International Television; and Chris Law, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, UK Television and Digital Distribution, Warner Bros. International Television. The deal secures the acquisition of the vampire drama, which stars Alex O’Loughlin (The Shield) and Sophia Myles (Thunderbirds, Doctor Who) and was recently voted Best New TV Drama at the 2008 People’s Choice Awards in the US.

Amy Barham, Head of Acquisitions, Virgin Media Television, brokered the deal: “LIVING has a real heritage in the supernatural, and the recent excellent performances of Ghost Whisperer and Blood Ties demonstrate our viewers’ commitment to this type of show. Moonlight is another strong offering in this genre.”

“We are thrilled that LIVING is the home for Moonlight in the UK and know it is a good fit for their audience,” said Schlesinger. “The show has an extremely devoted following in the US, and we believe we can replicate that success in the UK.”

In Moonlight, O’Loughlin stars as Mick St. John, a mysterious, charming and immortal private investigator from Los Angeles who defies the traditional vampire tendencies by using his wit and powerful supernatural abilities to help the living. In a life-altering twist of fate, Mick was bitten 60 years ago by his then-new bride, the seductive Coraline (Shannyn Sossamon – One Missed Call, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), on their wedding night. Forever 30 years of age, Mick is as handsome and charismatic as the day he was "turned.” With only a handful of like-minded confidantes for company, including the eternally young, wealthy and mischievous Josef (Jason Dohring – Veronica Mars), a 400-year-old vampire hedge-fund trader who relishes his uniqueness, Mick fills his infinite days protecting the living, including beautiful, ambitious Internet investigative reporter Beth Turner (Myles).

Moonlight is produced by Silver Pictures Television in association with Warner Bros. Television. The executive producers are Joel Silver, Chip Johannessen, Ron Koslow, Rod Holcomb and Gerard Bocaccio.

LIVING is the ultimate entertainment destination on TV. Commissions like Britain’s Next Top Model, Dirty Dancing – The Time of Your Life, Living with Kimberly Stewart and To The Manor Bowen have emerged as some of the UK’s most talked-about programmes. As the home of the paranormal, LIVING airs cult phenomena Most Haunted and the hugely successful Most Haunted Live. LIVING has also built a reputation for cleverly identifying and out-maneuvering its rivals to the best acquired shows out there such as Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Ghost Whisperer and America’s Next Top Model.

Since its launch at the end of 2004 LIVING2 is one of the fastest growing channels on multichannel. With an emphasis on entertainment reality, LIVING2 feature new exclusive acquisitions of top reality shows.

Matt Roush gives his opinion on Moonlight's return this season

Since the writer's strike is over, a viewer wrote to Matt Roush asking if that means Moonlight will begin production again for this season, or if we will have to wait for next season for more episodes. He answered in his Ask Matt column today on the TV Guide website. Of course, this is just his opinion. All the tv gurus have said the same thing thus far.

Question :

I'm concerned that shows will be in such a hurry to get new episodes on the air after the strike finally ends that the result will not be as good as what we might have gotten if there had been no strike. What are the odds of this happening? I've heard that some shows had episodes written but weren't filmed because so much is rewritten during production, and that couldn't happen during the strike. So those shows should be OK. I've also read that some shows will not finish this season but will hold new episodes until fall. As much as I miss some of my favorites, I think I'd prefer this over hastily written and produced crap. Do you have any intelligence on this? What's your best guess? The shows I'm most interested in are Supernatural, Ugly Betty, Lost, Heroes and Moonlight. I also greatly miss my Monday-night laughs with the gang at How I Met Your Mother. Thank you for an informative and often thought-provoking column.— Cindy B.

Matt Roush :

Once the dust settles from the strike (let it be soon), each show will be judged on a case-by-case basis. The decision to wait to produce new episodes until next season for many series has more to do with economics than creativity, but some long-running shows are enough of a well-oiled machine that they can probably pick back up without too much effort — especially those that knew where their stories were going for the next part of the season. It's all a mess, but of the shows you name, it's most likely that Heroes, Moonlight and possibly Supernatural will make do with what they've already produced. Lost is in such an odd position, having already planned to do a short season, that I'll have to wait to see what they decide before commenting. Ugly Betty is so plot-driven at this point it would be nice for them to move the story a little bit further along, in the way that Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy and Brothers & Sisters appear likely to do in April or May. And comedies are the most likely of all shows to resume production for at least a handful of episodes, so I'd be surprised if we don't get more How I Met Your Mother (along with the other CBS comedies) before season's end.

Darkravyn's cool fan video about the Mick, Beth & Josh love triangle

Darkravyn has made a super cool video about the Mick, Beth and Josh love triangle. She selected some wonderful Moonlight moments. Then, she uses several of Sophia's scenes from the movie Underworld to great effect.... especially making it appear that Mick is biting Beth's neck. Oooooooo my! The music is Cry Me A River by Justin Timberlake.

Writer's Strike Update ~ It is all over, except for the voting!

Writer's Strike Update

After days of rumors and articles, it appears that the writer's strike is over! *cheer* Every news outlet is reporting it as a done deal. However, the Writer's Guild of America members still have to vote to accept the new contract. According to Deadline Hollywood Daily, the standing ovations seem to indicate the vote will be positive. Writers may be back at work by Wednesday :)

What does the end of the writer's strike mean for Moonlight? From everything I've heard, CBS is not planning to put our show back into production for the short time remaining in this season. BOO! Several sources ~ including the list I published earlier from TV Guide's Michael Ausiello ~ have said Moonlight will return with new episodes this Fall. While that is good news cuz we want a second season, I have been writing and calling CBS asking for the remaining episodes they ordered of Moonlight for this season! Our show is relatively inexpensive to produce.... and... it never hurts to ask, so I hope you are doing the same!

Deadline Hollywood Daily's info on the strike negotiations held Saturday, February 9th, 2008 ~

SATURDAY 9:00 PM: I've received word from inside the Shrine Auditorium meeting that the WGA West membership was obviously "very positive" about resolving the writers strike as soon as possible and accepting the deal negotiated by the guild leadership with the Hollywood moguls. Also, the WGA governing bodies wisely decided to ensure that guild members be able to vote within the next 48 hours before the strike can be called off by leaders -- even though the AMPTP made the deal contingent on the writers going back to work immediately. Under this new end game, Hollywood could now get back to work by Wednesday at the earliest (not Monday as previously arranged). This also means the Academy Awards, just 14 days away, won't be picketed. A writer who just left the confab told me: "There was cheering for everything and standing ovation after standing ovation for all the leadership. There is no question in my mind that because of the atmosphere in that room this strike will be called off. There is no gearing for a fight. It's over."

WGAW President Patric Verrone announced that there would be a vote by the membership over the next 48 hours on whether or not to lift the strike. I'm told Verrone said specifically that the decision to call off the strike, regardless of the WGA Negotiating Committee's or the WGAW Board's or WGAE Council's recommendation, was to be in the hands of the membership (which wasn't originally planned). Pending that outcome, the 10-day ballotting process for members to accept the tentative deal would begin. Since the moguls insisted that vote not delay the lifting of the strike, WGA leader Dave Young Young told the auditorium that the writers, and therefore all of Hollywood, could get back to work by Wednesday. That means Back 9 orders of some scripted TV series could be saved along with a no-frills pilot season with less scripted series ordered than ever before. (And expect the upfront presentations to advertisers to consist of a lot more pleading than preening.) Some of the force-majeured deals could be reinstated. (But it's important to remember that three times as many pacts would have been cancelled if the agents and lawyers hadn't lobbied the networks and studios.) Feature films that were halted could get going immediately.

About 25% of the attendees left the auditorium after Dave Young explained the deal points. But the meeting is still going on as members now ask questions about specific terms.

Ratings for Moonlight's Arrested Development episode (#1x05) on Friday, February 8th, 2008

As you can expect on a February Sweeps' Friday night of reruns, the ratings were low across the networks. Moonlight's repeat held steady, ranking #2 with over 5 million viewers and with exactly the same demo numbers again this week.

Ratings for Moonlight's Arrested Development episode (#1x05) on Friday, February 8th, 2008 ~

Fast Nationals : 5.53 million viewers (2nd), 18 to 49 demo share 1.5/ 4 (3rd)

A few other numbers from the night.....

House won our time slot again for Fox with 8.20 million viewers. On NBC, Friday Night Lights had 5.22 million viewers in 3rd place. ABC's Desperate Housewives finished in last place with 3.79 million viewers. Ouch! It just wasn't a very good night for ABC at all.... The rebroadcast of Grey's Anatomy in the 7:00pm/8:00pm period only had 3.95 million. At least, the network's night finished better when 20/20 in the 9:00pm/10:00pm slot grabbed 6.29 million eyes and 3rd place.

Bands and songs from tonight's Moonlight episode ~ Arrested Development (#1x05)

This is a list of Moonlight's soundtrack for the Arrested Development episode (#1x05)...... Cool songs and bands were used, as always!

Believe by The Bravery ~ plays as Mineo, the teen vamp, is on the Internet viewing and selecting an escort ~ video above of the band's performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live

All My Life by DJ Harry ~ music playing at Beth and Josh's brief anniversary party

Paranoid Disease by Black Jack ~ heard when Mineo meets Cherish at Greenes Bar on the boardwalk

The Bird and The Worm by The Used ~ background for the roller coaster fight scene between Mick and the teenage vamp

Sleep by Meiko ~ playing to underscore the amazing first, & second, kiss between Mick and Beth (final scene)

Spoiler ~ Recap of Moonlight's episode tonight ~ Arrested Development (#1x05)

SPOILER ALERT ~ My little recap of Moonlight's Arrested Development episode #1x05

Great voiceover tonight. It was very informative for us to hear what Mick was thinking during this episode.

Can you imagine being a teenager for eternity? Or, until a roller coaster chops off your head? No, thanks! I see why Mick felt for the teen vamp. Not only because he will never grow out of the awkwardness of puberty, but being turned without consent.

Love the look Mick gives the guy who pushed past him to get on the elevator.

Josh insisted that Beth get a blood test because of her "chain link fence" injury. Ha! That is a pretty good cover for a Vampire bite. The look on Mick's face when a blood test was mentioned & then Beth's instant denial about marrying Josh.... I felt bad for the guy.

Happy anniversary, Josh..... I'm headed to the morgue!

As he will again in Sleeping Beauty (episode #1x10), Josh tells Beth he saw the way she and Mick looked at each other.

Mick instantly knew that Beth was in the morgue. I like his line.... "No, the one hiding around the corner goes first."

Josef meets Beth! I love the looks exchanged between Mick, Beth and Josef. "Mick says you have a great voice." That little comment got Josef a different kind of look from Mick. When Beth says "Whatever you want" that definitely got the attention of all the boys. ;>

Rider got a pat on the back from Josef for his good work.

How good did Mick look on the boardwalk?!

Mick tried until the end to talk Mineo down. He is so sweet and wants to save everyone.

Mineo ~ "Have you ever loved someone completely, so that she was your whole world? You'd do anything she asked... anything at all. Have you ever loved someone that way? You forgot about yourself and all you thought about was her." Mick closes his eyes and thinks of Coraline, then answers ~ "Yes." Mineo ~ "See, I never have!" He has always been a sad, lonely & pimple ridden teenager. That would make me a bit angry too.

Our writers and stars do the best last scenes in the biz! I love the expression on Mick's face when Beth kisses him. On a typical show, the girl would probably apologize or break down after kissing the hunk. Not Beth.... she looked Mick right in the eye afterward and gave him a little smile.... THEN gave him another kiss. As always, Alex has the perfect facial expression for the moment. The smile Mick gives as the scene fades out says it all.

Video ~ Final scene from Arrested Development (episode #1x05) ~ The Kiss!

SPOILER ALERT for those who haven't seen the Arrested Development episode (#1x05) yet. I know there are a lot of readers in England and other countries where Moonlight is about to premiere.

What did I tell you about Moonlight and the final scene!? They know how to end an episode. This video is of the last moments of tonight's repeat of Arrested Development. The Kiss! or Kisses to be exact :> I have watched this scene sooooo many times since it originally aired and again tonight. Still gives me goosebumps! Beth just takes charge and kisses Mick..... can you blame her? Then, Alex and those killer smiles..... when Mick shows Beth the keys he dropped and the perfect smile to sum up how he feels after that last kiss. Ooooooooooooo my!

The music playing during the kissing is Sleep by Meiko. Another great song choice!

CBS creates a new video ~ Moonlight ~ A Bloody Valentine

CBS has created and released a new Moonlight video. It is titled A Bloody Valentine. Their tag line says "Happy Valentines Day to all you MickBeth fans out there!" Awwwwww.........

Ausiello ~ No new Moonlight episodes until Fall

TV Guide's, Michael Ausiello, has addressed the question of which tv shows will go back into production when the writer's strike ends. Unfortunately, he says no new Moonlight episodes until the Fall season. I am conflicted by the news.... Yea! for Moonlight returning for the Fall season.... BOO! I want more now! Of course, this information is not set in stone. Have you contacted CBS lately??

At long last, a strike chart you can get excited about!

With an end to the three-month-old WGA strike imminent (yay!), the networks have quietly begun outlining plans to salvage what's left of the current TV season. At the same time, I've been quietly picking at my moles to get a preview of those plans — the results of which appear in chart form below.

What is Moonlight's upcoming schedule?

I have received many messages from readers asking for Moonlight's upcoming schedule. Unfortunately, tonight's episode ~ Arrested Development (#1x05 ~ will be the last rerun that CBS gives us for quite a long time. :( Next Friday (Feb 15th), the network is airing a Celine Dion special instead of our show. Then, for the following six weeks, The Price is Right gameshow will be on in primetime in Ghost Whisperer's time slot. That will bump GW down to Moonlight's time period. *growl* So, as I said before, we have to enjoy the show tonight even more! Thank goodness, all of Moonlight's marvelous episodes are available on YouTube. We can also watch great fan videos. Moonlight has the most creative fans! *cheer*

Let's use this down time constructively. Channel our disappointment into more fuel for supporting our show! The rumors are growing louder that the writer's strike will be ending soon. Along with that... there are also rumors that only older, established television programs will be chosen to produce a few episodes to finish this chopped up season. The tv gurus are saying that new shows will be held and re-launched this Fall instead. We can use this time to let CBS know that if/when the strike is resolved we want more Moonlight NOW!

Michael Eisner declares that the writer's strike is over!

Writer's Strike Update ~ Michael Eisner, Disney's former CEO, made a live appearance on CNBC's show, Fast Money, this afternoon. During the chat, he declared that the writer's strike is over! Do we dare believe him?!?!? For several days, we have been hearing and reading rumors that the WGA and AMPTP were close to an agreement. Here is what Eisner had to say today........

Deal Has Been Reached to End Writers' Strike: Eisner

A deal has been struck between the major media companies and the Writers Guild of America to end the writers' strike, former Walt Disney chief executive Michael Eisner revealed on CNBC.

"It's over," Eisner said. "They made the deal, they shook hands on the deal. It's going on Saturday to the writers in general."

Eisner, speaking live on CNBC's "Fast Money," seemed to hesitate initially about whether it was possible that the writers could still reject the agreement, but finally suggested the deal's acceptance was inevitable.

"A deal has been made, and they'll be back to work very soon," Eisner said, adding, "I know a deal's been made. I know it's over."

Eisner did not elaborate on terms of the agreement. He said he expects most of the media companies affected by the strike to have "small" write-downs as a result of the deal. Eisner said the deal was struck last Friday.

As a result of studio cutbacks, however, many of the writers who went on strike are unlikely to return to the same big-money contracts they'd had as individuals with the studios, Eisner said.

Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston, Prince, Beyonce, Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, U2, Faith Hill, Ray Charles, Alan Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Sting, Celine Dion, Jamie Foxx, Michael Jackson.... some greats! Of course, Bon Jovi is featured because their song "Make a Memory" is the music playing.

TV Guide's Michael Ausiello answers a question about Moonlight's return

I'm proud to see that Moonlight fans are still pestering critics, reviewers and CBS about the future of our show :) Connie has asked TV Guide's Michael Ausiello for his opinion on a very important subject. He included it in his Ask Ausiello column today.

Question :

Just want to know what the buzz is concerning the return of Moonlight on CBS — there are all sorts of rumors that CBS won't be airing any more original episodes until this fall. — Connie

Ausiello :

That's assuming it comes back in the fall. And that's a big assumption at this point. I spoke to a Moonlight insider late last week and he/she told me that before the strike, CBS informed producers that they had every intention of picking up the show's "back nine." But since the strike started, they haven't heard a peep about whether they'll be going back into production. My guess? Moonlight will be renewed for a 13-episode second season.

Information about Moonlight's Paley Center event from LA blog readers

I have received messages from wonderful Moonlightfan Blog readers who happen to live in LA ~ Cinnamon and two others who wish to remain anonymous. According to their information, the Moonlight event to be held at the Paley Center for Media is part of their "An Evening with.... " series. Similar to the Paley Fest 2008 that is being held in March, Moonlight's cast & producers will take part in a panel discussion Q&A session, sign autographs and such. Each reader has told me that they found out this information from very reliable sources.

What a great night for Moonlight fans who live in the Los Angeles area or who can travel there for the event! Believe me, I wish I could be there. However, hopefully I will get a full report from those who are lucky enough to attend. I'm excited that our show is receiving this attention, which it more than deserves :)

Again.... thank you so much to my friends for the information!

Cult TV website promotes Moonlight's upcoming debut in the UK

I've already been receiving great emails from folks in England, Ireland and Scotland who are excited about seeing Moonlight and the lovely Sophia Myles on telly there soon!

Cult TV holds festivals for fans in England. It is a grass roots organization that puts together gatherings for those who love cult television shows. Television production workshops, autograph sessions, charity auctions, interviews with celebrity guests, awards, competitions, memorabilia traders and much more. This is all done using an unpaid volunteer staff so they can not only avoid charging hefty prices like other conventions, but also give money to several charities. Very cool, huh? Cult TV also has a UK website where they promote and discuss various programs and stars. They published the following article about Moonlight's upcoming premiere in the United Kingdom.

LIVING to broadcast new vampire 'tec series in the UK in February

Recently voted Best New TV Drama by The People’s Choice Awards 2008 in the USA, Moonlight is already leaving its mark on Stateside viewers and arrives on LIVING this February.

Private Investigator Mick St John (Alex O’Loughlin, Detective Kevin Hiatt in The Shield) is a vampire who ironically makes it his mission to help people, rather than adhere to the usual vampiric tendencies. He teams up with beautiful and tenacious reporter Beth Turner (Sophia Myles, Lady Penelope in the "Thunderbirds" movie, as well as Reinette in the Doctor Who episode "Girl In The Fireplace").

Mick makes it his mission to uncover murders and mysteries, and protect the innocent. Garlic and ornate crucifixes are no match for this modern-day vampire; a stake through the heart will only render a vampire paralysed ... but only until someone kindly removes it.

In a life-altering twist of fate, Mick St John was bitten 55 years ago by his new bride, the seductive Coraline, (Shannyn Sossoman, Kira Klay in Dirt), on their wedding night. Forever 30 years of age, Mick is as handsome and charismatic as the day he was "turned". With only a handful of like-minded confidantes for company, including the eternally young, wealthy and mischievous Josef (Jason Dohring, Logan Echolls in Veronica Mars), a 400 year old vampire hedge-fund trader who relishes his uniqueness, Mick fills his infinite days protecting the living, including Beth Turner.

But, unbeknownst to Beth, she has met Mick before. One night many years ago, Mick saved her from being kidnapped by Coraline as a young girl, making him realise he wanted to use his powers for good, not evil. Now their paths cross again, and Mick feels a distinctive bond with Beth, who has grown into a beautiful, courageous woman. Mick knows he can't pursue his feelings without exposing the part of him that would make him a monster in Beth's eyes. As he lives between two realities, fighting his adversaries among the undead and falling in love, he discovers the mysteries and pleasures that a valuable life has to offer.

Here's a preview of the first two episodes, and details of transmission times on LIVING in the UK:

Episode 1 – Tuesday 19 February, 10.00pm
“No such thing as vampires”

A string of vampire-like murders have been hitting Los Angeles. It's up to Mick St John to find out who's behind these murders and stop them from happening again. While he's on the case, he meets a woman from his past, Beth Turner, who's going to change his future. As she struggles to remember where she knows him from, they team up to find out who is committing the murders and giving vampires in LA a bad name...

Episode 2 – Tuesday 26 February, 10.00pm
“Out of the Past”

In 1983, Mick attacked his client's killer and, in the process, revealed that he was a vampire. Having failed to finish the job and kill the murderer, Lee Jay, Mick has left himself exposed and vulnerable. Lee Jay was arrested and charged with the murder, but has now been released after years of imprisonment, vowing revenge on the vampire. Mick must also face one of his worst fears: having the truth of his immortal identity revealed to Beth.

Moonlight debuts Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 at 10:00 PM on the Living Channel.

I thought this cool photo of Sophia Myles and Alex O'Loughlin behind the scenes on the Moonlight set would go well with this post. :)

Matt Roush's opinion about why CBS hasn't announced Moonlight's renewal yet

In his TV Guide "Ask Matt" column today, our pal Matt Roush answers a question about why television networks often seem to treat the shows the fans adore so badly..... changing the schedule, airing lame shows instead, etc. For example, the hiatus Moonlight fans are about to endure as CBS airs Price is Right primetime specials on Friday nights. BOO! While answering, Matt mentions our beloved Moonlight. :) He addresses our chief complaint and question ~ why hasn't CBS announced that Moonlight has been picked up for a second season?!? The yellow highlight is my emphasis.

Question :

We are getting a little upset with ABC, which keeps scheduling and then canceling Men in Trees. There are many programs on this network that are more inane than Trees (a show that is somewhat similar to Northern Exposure, which was quite successful a while back). There are very few good adult comedies (if that's the correct characterization) left that we can enjoy. When will the network get its act together with a consistent schedule?— R. Bressler, Austin

Matt Roush :

It's been a while since I've aired this complaint, which still generates a lot of mail and seems timely again in the wake of ABC leaving duds like Cashmere Mafia and October Road on the air week after week to diminishing returns. All the while ABC is sitting on a cache of 11 Men in Trees episodes, which aren't scheduled to begin airing until Feb. 27. I understand that ABC is trying to preserve some fresh product to get us through the last months of what's left of this ragtag season, but how much worse could Men in Trees do than these losers? (And why, when it returns, put it on Wednesdays, when it could air on Mondays with an eventual Dancing with the Stars lead-in?) I guarantee this wouldn't be happening if Men in Trees were an ABC Studios (as opposed to Warner Bros.) production.
Same reason probably applies as to why CBS has been so mum about the future of Moonlight, which is also from Warner Bros. and not an in-house (in that case, CBS/Paramount) production.

While we are at it..... Matt also answered another viewer inquiry that is relevant to Moonlight. The second most asked question after "will Moonlight be renewed?" is "when will Mick and Beth finally get together?" Do you agree with his opinion?

Question :

Can you please explain to me why viewers feel the need for interesting characters to immediately get together? Sometimes we know that they will come together eventually (like Gilmore Girls' Luke and Lorelai), but it's all about the journey. As soon as a new cast member appears, people immediately scream for him/her to hook up with a favorite regular. Why don't we just enjoy interesting characters by themselves? And if we must force them into couplehood, can we at least wait two or three episodes before screaming for instant satisfaction?— Laura, San Diego

Matt Roush :

What a well-timed question under the circumstances. When it comes to plotting out relationship arcs, it really does feel at times like you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. Bring characters together too quickly and you may have robbed the viewer of investing enough stakes in the relationship. Sustain the tension too long and you risk boring and frustrating them, especially in the current viral climate of overzealous fan sites and message boards. I'm with Laura. Make the journey enjoyable and dramatic enough, I can be patient.

Ratings for Moonlight's Fever episode (#1x04) on Friday, February 1st, 2008

Friday night shows do not usually have huge numbers under normal circumstances. Even though this is the February sweeps period, most networks only have reruns to show due to the writer's strike. Sooooo.... that means last Friday's ratings were especially low across the board for all the television networks.

Ratings for Moonlight's Fever episode (#1x04) on Friday, February 1st, 2008 ~

Fast Nationals : 5.91 million viewers (2nd), 18 to 49 demo share 1.5/ 4 (3rd)

In my opinion, those are not bad numbers for a repeat episode. Comparing Moonlight to the other shows that night, none had high ratings. For example ~

In Moonlight's time slot (8:00 PM CST/9:00 PM Eastern), on Fox, House won with 7.83 million viewers.... NBC's Friday Night Lights got 5.64 million.... ABC's Desperate Housewives had a very low 3.64 million.

7:00 PM CST/8:00 PM Eastern

Ghost Whisperer (CBS) 7.31 million viewers.

Bones (Fox) 5.59 million viewers.

Grey's Anatomy (ABC) 4.13 million viewers.

9:00 PM CST/10:00 PM Eastern

Numb3rs (CBS) 6.89 million viewers.

Las Vegas (NBC) 6.86 million viewers.

20/20 (ABC) 6.75 million viewers.

E! Online's Watch with Kristin comments on the writer's strike

Writer's Strike Update ~ E! Online's Watch with Kristin column has published the following comments about the possibility of a resolution to the WGA's strike!

It seems this week's rumors that the writers' strike is coming to an end may indeed be true. We are hearing from several sources that the WGA and the AMPTP are "very close" to a deal, which could be announced as early as later today.

According to reliable insiders who asked not to be named, the writers and producers were in talks for nine hours yesterday and made a "staggering amount of progress," as all of the major sticking points have been settled.

"We are 99.9 percent of the way there," one source inside the negotiations said. "As of late yesterday, just a few small issues remained."

The stickiest issue of all, compensation for new-media projects, has been agreed upon by both sides, according to sources. Said one: "There is most certainly light at the end of the tunnel, and we are rapidly approaching it."

Stay tuned, and keep those fingers crossed. An announcement could come any minute.

Video of the biting scenes from Moonlight's Fever episode (#1x04)

Thanks to Purpldy who have a video of the sensuous biting scenes from Moonlight's episode last night ~ Fever (#1x04). See what I mean about Beth's breathing? I would be doing the same thing if I were her.... practically was just from watching.

Spoiler ~ Recap of Moonlight's Fever Episode (#1x04)

Spoiler Alert for those who still haven't seen Moonlight's Fever episode (#1x04).... do not read my recap below.....

Fever is the episode that changed the mind of many television critics and reviewers who initially weren't so kind to Moonlight.

It was bittersweet seeing Josh alive and well. We also saw the sweet relationship between him and Beth. The ease with which they teased each other. Beth saying she had to stick to the facts in her BuzzWire report about Josh's case because she was afraid she "would start babbling about how hot you are." Then, when Josh jokes that he might be cheating on her, she says "who would cheat on this?"

The desert is no place for our Vampire!

Who didn't want to rush to Mick's side to feed him and save his life?!? Or, just feed him anytime! *wink*

Beth and Josh went to Mick for help because our vamp is good at his job. And, he is a gracious host making coffee for his guests.

Love the touches of humor in Fever. Mick daydreaming that he had found a "vamp friendly vending machine." The humor also led to some of my favorite quotes.... Beth ~ "you're a delicate flower, Mick St John." Mick ~ "it's a giant thrill ride that never ends." Mick agreeing that he is indeed a delicate flower when Beth arrives to save him.

We watch Beth becoming more and more fascinated with Mick.

Mick tipping his hat to the women coming out when he went into the ladies restroom after Leni.

If I were Leni, my knees would have buckled when Mick said to look into his eyes and then pledged to save her and the baby. Awwwwwww......

At this point, Beth had known Mick for a relatively short amount of time. I think she seems much more upset when she thinks Mick has been killed than when Josh actually dies. We do see her usual reaction of lashing out due to guilty feelings.

Those ice cubes were really fake... but give them a break... can you imagine what a continuity nightmare it would have been if they had used real ice.

Mick was willing to die rather than bite Leni. He has such honor.

I could write pages and pages after every episode about Alex O'Loughlin's outstanding performance. He makes it all so real and believable.

In the Dr. Feelgood episode (#1x03), Mick told Beth that he trusts her. Tonight on the verge of dying, he told Leni that he trusts Beth.

That bite scene.... Ooooooooo my! Beth offering her blood willingly. Did you notice her breathing?! :> Mick trying to get her to leave with Leni. Finally, giving in and allowing her to save his life again! Mick ~ "At some point, you're gonna have to stop me." Gave me goosebumps!

I enjoyed the way Mick broke through the door and simply snapped the annoying assassin's neck.

Another unforgettable final scene from Moonlight! I had to use photos of that last scene for my post. Mick leaning on one side of the door, Beth doing the same on the opposite side. Connected, yet separated. Underscored by the haunting melody of Into Dust by Mazzy Star. Perfect!

Music from tonight's episode of Moonlight ~ Fever #1x04

A list of music from tonight's wonderful Moonlight episode ~ Fever (#1x04). They sure know how to enhance the atmosphere with the right band and song at the right time.

Vanished by Front Line Assembly ~ song playing at the beginning & midpoint of Fever ~ while Mick is taking his ice bath at the desert motel (video above)

Just Like Everyone by Saturn Missiles ~ music playing when Mick gets Leni a drink at bus stop diner

Into Dust by Mazzy Star ~ powerful background music as Mick and Beth are simultaneously leaning on either side of his apartment door ~ final scene

It's Moonlight Friday Again!

It is finally Moonlight Friday again! *cheer* I'm counting down the last hours and minutes until Fever (episode #1x04) tonight. You know that this is one of my favorite episodes :) Some of the best scenes between Mick and Beth are in Fever!

We have to enjoy Fever and next week's episode ~ Arrested Development (#1x05) ~ because after that Moonlight will be on hiatus for 6 long weeks. :(

TV Guide's Michael Ausiello comments on the Writer's Strike

Michael Ausiello, from TV Guide, received questions from viewers anxious for a Writer's Strike update... including a subject near and dear to Moonlight fan's hearts ~ if the strike ends soon, will tv shows begin airing new episodes or wait until the Fall season? He gave his comments and possible scoop in his Ask Ausiello column.

Question :

I hear that the strike is over! Is it true?— Danouk

Ausiello :

Nothing's official, but the buzz is that a tentative agreement has been reached, with an announcement coming as early as tomorrow. But it's hard to tell what's solid intel and what's just spin. To wit: In the past 24 hours, one source close to the negotiations insisted that talk of a resolution was way premature. "There's no deal," maintained my spy. "That's just misinformation put out by the AMPTP to pressure the WGA." But moments before I put this column to bed, I heard from another very plugged-in source that the deal is done. Short story shorter: There's cause for optimism, but not celebration. Yet.

Question :

If the strike ends in the next week or so, can the current TV season be salvaged? — Donald

Ausiello :

Depends on the network and the show. A source at one of the Big 4 tells me that should the strike end by mid-February, one best-case scenario being bandied about has established series going back into production and working through June, making more episodes for this season and some for next. Then they'll take a summer break before starting regular production on next season. The reason for this is twofold: They don't want to bail out on this season, but they also don't want to go to the expense of putting shows back into production for just two or three episodes. One industry observer describes this as "a smart plan," while acknowledging that there's another variable in all this: the actors. "The trouble is, a lot of actors schedule hiatus movies, or just elaborate vacations. And if they ask them to work through certain dates, that could trigger some contract issues." Now, continue reading for the worst-case scenario….

Question :

G'day, fellow Snapple lover! Pushing Daisies is my absolute favorite new show. Any scoop/news? — The Doctor

Ausiello :

I posed Donald's strike-aftermath Q to Daisies creator Bryan Fuller, and here's his sobering response. " Even if the strike ends in the next week or two, it looks like they will scuttle the rest of the season. This is for many reasons. One is that it will be hard to launch a big promotional campaign for four or five episodes; it's just not cost-effective. Two is that if we did come back we would land right in the path of the American Idol juggernaut, and would likely be decimated. Three is if we came back in the fall with a full slate of episodes, then ABC could relaunch the show in a big way. The tentative plan now is to start the writers immediately [after the strike is resolved] so we can get some scripts stockpiled, and then hit production in June. But that's all tentative. We've talked about so many options since the strike began and they fluctuate on a weekly basis. But right now a short first season seems the most likely."
